[Kavinsky was at home, sitting at the kitchen table. The interior of his house had a lot of wood surfaces and it was the complete opposite of what he was used to back in Henrietta. The mansion he'd lived in with his mother had been concrete and glass and tile. He'd get used to it though. He was good at adapting.

His Omni was sitting on the table in front of him while he lounged in a chair.]

What the fuck's up, squid people?

[Trenchies was lame and no, he wasn't going to use it.]

Got a few questions. First off-

[Looking down, he leaned over and reached out of view, picking his omen up off the floor and bringing her (him? it?) into camera frame. It was a dragon the size of a house cat, feathered, with multiple eyes, a little intimidating except for how small it was.]

Where the hell did this come from?

[He cradled the dragon in his arms until it climbed up onto his shoulders and draped across them, making itself comfortable.]

I'm not complaining, really, but the little shit appeared out of nowhere the other day.

[He scratched under the dragon's chin and it squinted its eyes shut contently, just like a cat.]

Second question. What the fuck is that lamp thing? Things, whatever. Besides being creepy as hell.

[Please tell him he could dress up the lamp friends. The idea hadn't even crossed his mind, yet.]

Last question. How often do people throw parties around here? I know- 'just go to the club'- but that's not the same, you get me? Similar atmosphere, completely different in the end.

That's your omen. They're kind of like...a familiar or something.

[Her own omen is a dragon as well, although it's ostrich sized rather than cat sized, peeking its golden head over Tory's shoulder.]

People don't throw parties too often around here because of all the monsters and other shit. I for one wouldn't say no to there being more parties, though.

One: Omen. They're a part of you. Some of them speak, some of them don't, but they can help you out when you're in a tight spot. They can get bigger or smaller or give off light.

Two: Lamp buddies. Friends. [ she likes buddies better ] I think they're cute but whatever. They can teleport you to other lamp locations around the city.

And three: [ here she shrugs her shoulders somewhat lazily ] I don't fucking know. I don't do parties.

They're less creepy if you put a hat on 'em. Or a little scarf, bow, whatever. They're clingy and a little noisy but not picky. Like, do you mean what's it for or just "how can I get it to stop hugging my neck?"

Lotsa clubs. Some parties, but usually for a milestone kinda thing, less for the sake of just party.

Get used to creepy things around here. It'll only get worse from here on out.

[Why yes, that might be something a bit creepy on the screen right now given it's an alien who doesn't blink once the entire time he's on-screen. Maul looks like a demon from hell with his strange appearance but his voice doesn't really fit his appearance at all. It's soft-spoken, low, and smooth as he talks.]

Haven't been to a good party in a long time.

[obvious choice would be sansa. but. maybe rose? she knows about fancy parties. should this be fancy? maybe not too fancy. what is the right amount of fancy?? why is sne so anxious about this?]

[He didn't know how omens were decided, what made them take the form they did, but he'd always had a thing with dragons. It wasn't really surprising. He was just a little grumpy. For reasons.]

Why? Monsters don't like parties or something?

[If the club could do its thing all the time, he failed to see why monsters would impact parties.]

Wait, so this thing might talk sometime?

[He craned his neck a little to eye his dragon. Not suspiciously, just curiously.

Lamp buddies on the other hand, made him laugh.]

Don't worry, I won't judge you for thinking they're cute.

[Some people thought babies were adorable, after all, instead of wrinkly little potatoes.]

I'd just like it if they groaned a little less. It's not the kind that's appealing, you know?

[And he absolutely had to ask now, because the door was wide open, so to speak-]

Why don't you do parties?

[He sat up a little straighter at the mention of dressing up the lamp things. He was already getting ideas. Just give him a little time and all of his lamp whatevers would be wearing little snapbacks. Maybe necklaces, too.]

A little noisy's one way to put it. Also, both.

Too bad we can't really fix their ugly. But I guess hats are a step in the right direction.

There's always a reason to party. Sometimes, life's fucked up and you just need to take your mind off it.

[He'd thrown such good ones back home, but he had a feeling fireworks and pyrotechnics might be off the table here if people were worried about monsters. There was nothing lowkey or subtle about one of Kavinsky's parties.]

Holy shit, dude. Pretty sure I saw something like you in a dream, once.

[Was it an insult? A compliment? A simple stating of the facts? It was hard to tell with Kavinsky.]

Also, I can be used to creepy shit and still acknowledge it's creepy. I've seen shit that would make people piss themselves.

[So long as they knew how to have fun. That was the only prerequisite.]

Speaking of parties, are there any good places to stock up on booze?

Yep. Well, maybe. It depends on what it wants to do. Some of them keep quiet but they're no less an important and useful companion. [ at least, that's been her personal experience with her own.

when he says the word appealing she wrinkles her nose in a fleeting look of mild disgust but doesn't comment on it. instead, she focuses on his question. ] I wasn't allowed to attend any back home and, frankly, I'm not big on being around large groups of people, especially strangers.

It's cool whether it wants to talk or not.

[He'd already named his omen and was quite attached to it. He was just getting more and more curious about what this little dragon could do. He wasn't even going to judge it for being so small. It wasn't size that mattered--though it did help sometimes.]

Strict parents? Parties are fun though; you should give one a try sometime. Go with a friend, someone you trust. Safer that way.

[Kavinsky was an asshole but he wasn't a creep.]

[He was definitely amused. At least until he heard about shitty beer.]

Ugh. Is there vodka? Whiskey?

[Or did he have to do everything himself? It wouldn't be the worst thing to ever happen but still.]

They get quieter when they have stuff. Little paper hat? Leaf if you don't have paper handy. And they'll let go, they just don't wanna. Good thing is they don't eat, so if you put 'em back in your bag they're fine until you find a place to set 'em down. They won't cry from inside your bag or anything.

Good call. It's not like we can do anything about the part where shit sucks, except ...try and make it suck less.

[she's nodding, a brow arches to consider.]

Mm, it was a little more complicated than strict parents. My dad and I were kind of on the run from a cult and they were pretty aggressive. [ she says it in such a way that implies that it's kind of boring ] I couldn't do parties or after-school activities or do the whole 'friends' thing.

I am trying to branch out more here, though. You know, get that bullshit teenage experience. So, maybe I will go to one of your parties when you throw one.

What're they like? [ she really only knows parties from movies and shit. ]

[ Oh! Oh! Sansa's birthday! Okay, look, she might not have any clue about parties but she's gonna do research! ] A karaoke contest might be cool? But IDK about what other competitions we could do.

Pin the tail on the donkey? I mean. I don't know if anyone can be blown away by someone's skill in that game, though.

Think there are any competitions that we could use from her world?

i know theres stuff like jousting and swordplay but i dont think she cares too much about all of that

Considering what that thing looks like, it's probably your Omen.

[ But Ange figures that people probably explained as much already - it's a relatively easy question for most people who aren't new to this place, after all. Just like the thing about the lamps, so she skips that as well in favour of something she imagines would be at least a little bit more useful. ]

But if any other weird beings appear near you after that, you can probably assume those are out to eat you. It's usually what happens when weird creatures suddenly appear in this place. [ The girl says it with an entirely too calm tone for the subject matter, considering there hardly seems to be any emotion in her voice at all as she speaks about this. ]

I've got a stock of that in my place but I doubt that's enough for a party.

There's shops around that sell. Vodka, whiskey, rum, scotch, all that liquor shit that you seem to want. Wine if you're looking for the distinguished bit.

I like the art idea but then again that's kind of what I'm good at so I'm biased. I think she'd really like storytelling and poems, though! Especially if they're romantic.

It's like a kid's game! No sex! No real donkey! You basically have a picture on a wall of a donkey's backside and you give the player a picture of the tail that has a pin on it. The goal is to pin the tail on where it's meant to go on the donkey but you're blindfolded and spun around and shit so you're basically blind and stabbing at a wall in hopes you get it.

...it was funny when I was a kid. We might have done it in school a few times.

More or less. They take all different forms.

It's more that people don't want to risk getting drunk when they might encounter monsters on the way home.
