That dryly delivered and awful joke was said by Vira-Lorr's head, which was resting on a metal plate in front of her. She was seated in her fortune teller's booth, relaxed back and reclined in her chair, wearing a particularly high necked Ao Dai that completely concealed the clean cut from sight. Trails of smoke extended from within the collar, floating upwards. Her head, meanwhile, was resting in the spot that the crystal ball usually would, looking about as acrid and "Over every last minute of this" as she possibly could. There was no way in which she was pleased by this.]

Ahem. It appears that some of the masks are a bit too effective at making us seem like monsters. This was an experience I was not planning to have again. But, rather than search high and low for blood in this situation? I will tolerate it as long as I must until it returns to normal. The discomfort is ... minimal. It's just very disorienting.

However, until this remedies itself, I will be sticking to the shop closely. I don't have a collar to keep from losing my head after all, you understand. And... [she switched which leg was crossed on top of each other and, in the process her leg accidentally bumped her head, causing it to topple over with a yelp of distress.]

This! This is exactly why I am not going out right now! Damnit! I'll have whoever's head for this!

[The answer came when a small litwick hopped up on top of the table and waved at the camera angle beatifically, touching a button and blessedly ending the feed.]

Indeed. Still, I get the feeling that this is much more temporary. It's just a remembrance i was not planning on experiencing at this stage in my life.

[It took a minute, but when she'd settled, her head was in her lap and firmly in her grasp. No more rolling away thank you very much. She sighed and shrugged.]

So... I used to have a neck brace, and that magical ribbon, but neither of those came to this world, so at the moment? No. If this lasts a week or more, I might just look into getting a brace again.

Ugh, I hated wearing that.

[It took her a moment to get her head back into her lap, and now she was holding it there, looking over at the screen with a ruffled and tired look on her face as she spoke.]

My 'shop' is basically this one small room. My ware is fortune telling or mystic consultation, so I can do that without worrying much about parts and pieces. It even arguably helps the ambiance a little. Sadly.

Thankfully it acts like it did before. There's a ... mystical connection I suppose you'd say. It ends up going through all the way.

Trust me. The first time this happened, we had concerns until I was sure that it wouldn't be a problem. The idea of any form of alternative is too horrible to imagine.

Let's... talk if it lasts past three or four days. I can handle a couple days like this, but if we find ourselves with a week of it then it might last the month and a brace of some kind would be wise.

Oh... there were ways to solve that, but yes. Yes, it would have been awful. It was already bad enough as is.

[She sighed, shrugging. One hand reached up to ... damnit. No, her head wasn't in that spot. Habits died hard.]

It can help a lot when you are certain it isn't going to last and have dealt with it before.

Well, in that case I can see if we can somehow make one for you that's a little less bothersome.

[ .. though it'll probably be hard, Ange figures. It's not like neck braces are ever designed to be stylish - or very comfortable. They couldn't very well do their job otherwise. But maybe they can alter it a little, especially since she'd just conjure it up magically..

Though the initial hope is just that this doesn't last long for Vira-Lorr at all. Ange can't imagine the situation is very comfortable in general. ]

But his dragon mask had given him a cute set of horns on his head sticking out of his hair and curling back over his head to stick up slightly from there. His ears had elongated slightly into a point, and the fangs from his corruption had gotten a bit longer and pointier, too.

The wings were kind of visible behind him... big leathery looking ones.]

So, I'm guessing you picked some sort of headless thing for your costume?

Oh... I will probably make use of it when I'm done being aggravated. I might as well be a very authentic disguise, yes? There should be at least some use in this.

Oh, if it comes down to it, I can carry my head around in the crook of my arm like an actual Dullahan. Perhaps I'll even throw it at children to terrify them.

But I do appreciate you putting in the effort on my behalf. Since this has happened every once in a while, even if it isn't used this time? It might be helpful to have.

To be a little more precise, I picked up a pumpkin head for my disguise. There is apparently a fable about a Dullahan who lost their head and replaced it with a flaming pumpkin while chasing a man over and over again.

Ah... gotcha. [Keith nodded. He didn't exactly know the term 'dullahan', but he knew the legend of Sleepy Hollow.] I didn't know that's what the Headless Horseman was called. Dullahan? Was that his name or something?

Adaptation is a skill you learn when you have to do it a lot.

It's... a fae? Yes, a fae. They're spirits from mythologies in Earth, though they also exist in my own. So, it's a class or species. Like a human or Onelthes, or perhaps more accurately a type of human? In this case, a type of Spirit.

But basically, Dullahan is what the Headless Horseman is. the Headless Horseman was a specific one that the stories talked about. Most of them wield their spines as whips, believe it or not.
