Why hello there! [Snow White looks even cheerier than usual, which is impressive considering her general nature.]

What a lovely winter we're having! [Snow, having come from German winters of the Renaissance is honestly quite cozy with all the inventions Trench has to keep you warm. ]

Now, I've never gotten to celebrate my birthday before, and since it's today, I was hoping for some ideas on what I might do! I have been told, quite vehemently by my beloved, I'm not allowed to bake my own cake.

Though, I don't think there should be a party, I don't wish to waste food for something that doesn't matter all that much. Just something small should be alright. So, I would love to hear any recommendations you might have!

I hope you're all staying nice and warm and fed as well! If not, please let me know and I will be happy to help with food and clothing.

Oh, that does seem to be what everyone is saying. I do hope it's not too short notice, though. Will you come?

And that's so very kind of you! You must be very good with flowers!

Really? Um, if that's no trouble I would. [a pause to consider] It doesn't surprise me though, people here are pretty kind like that.

I can make them grow, that's about it. Do you have a favorite color? Or flower?

They are so very kind, it's true. I haven't met a mean person yet! [She's also Snow White, so... she's incredibly biased and gauges everything based on how they compare to her stepmother.]

But that's so very useful here! And certainly, not everyone can do that. As for my favorite color, I like red and blue most of all, and a favorite flower? Oh, I've never even thought of a favorite, they're all so lovely. I think perhaps daffodils or tulips! Or lilies! Really, they've all something wonderful about them.

[even mob takes a moment to wonder if you know, maybe after that story she's just used to people being really terrible. still. everyone is nice so there's that.

her answer makes his lip quirk a little though, moving to write this down.] It is hard to choose. I like that tulips look a little like eggs though.

[scribbling for a moment, okay.] Okay, I'll try to get those for your party.

Daffodils make me think of a little trumpet.

That's really so kind of you. But before all that, you haven't even told me your name!

Oh that's true. Or a little lion.

Ah, I'm Kageyama Shigeo. Kageyama is my family name, but people call me Mob. [he's found the nickname is easier than getting into cultural differences.] It's nice to meet you.

But then what is a poor dandelion to do?

Oh, well, it's very nice to meet you Mob! My name is Snow White!

Hm yeah, it has lion in the name too. I always think of them when they become the puffy and round.

Should I call you Miss White?

There are actual trumpet lilies too, I suppose daffodils will merely have to be daffy little dils.

Oh, White isn't my family name. Snow White is my entire first name.

[tiny smile for that break down of the name.] Sunflowers are my favorite, I think. They're easy, they do look a lot like the sun.

I've never heard a name like that before. It's nice, like from a story. [well. yeah.]

They follow the sun too. I love sunflowers as well. I can watch them all day. I want to build a sunflower hut. Do you know what that is?

My mother picked it when she wished for me.

No, I've never heard of that. What is it?

She wished for you? [a pause] Like on a star?

Sunflower stems are ridiculously hardy and grow so very tall. So, you weave them together while they're buds. Once they bloom, the flowers are like your bright, beautiful ceiling and roof.

Hmm? Oh no no, on her blood.

You see, just before my birth, she was embroidering by the window on a snowy day. She pricked her finger with a needle and three drops fell onto the fresh snow.

She made a wish on each drop: May I have a daughter with lips red as blood, hair black as the window's ebony, and skin white as the fresh snow.

She did not survive my birth, but I came just as she wished. And so, I am Snow White.

Really? Um, do you know how to weave them together the right way? [he looks vaguely hopeful because now he really wants to try this? if he could get some sunflower seeds...

but oh, he wonders if that too makes her birthday even more complicated, if her mother died the same day. still, clearly her mother seems like she'd want her daughter's birth celebrated, if she wanted it this much. he takes a moment to consider all that.]

I see, that name makes a lot of sense then. I think it's really pretty too, like her wish was.

Well, no, but there's no reason why we couldn't give it a try and keep trying until we get it right. Even if we damage the flower, we can use the seeds for food.

My father used to tell me that story a good deal, tell me how I was wished for. That was before he passed. But I'm still grateful for those words and that short time with him.

Ah, that's true. Just having sunflowers would be nice. Can we find the seeds here?

I'm sorry you lost them both. [and this whole. living situation after is a lot too.]

I'm sure we can find some or find someone who can get them for us! We just have to ask!
