Why hello there! [Snow White looks even cheerier than usual, which is impressive considering her general nature.]

What a lovely winter we're having! [Snow, having come from German winters of the Renaissance is honestly quite cozy with all the inventions Trench has to keep you warm. ]

Now, I've never gotten to celebrate my birthday before, and since it's today, I was hoping for some ideas on what I might do! I have been told, quite vehemently by my beloved, I'm not allowed to bake my own cake.

Though, I don't think there should be a party, I don't wish to waste food for something that doesn't matter all that much. Just something small should be alright. So, I would love to hear any recommendations you might have!

I hope you're all staying nice and warm and fed as well! If not, please let me know and I will be happy to help with food and clothing.

Happy Birthday, Snow...! ( She's never celebrated her birthday before...? Given what he's learned about her past, it's maybe not surprising, but it's still an unpleasant thing to learn all the same. They'll just have to make up for all those missed birthdays, okay! )

Birthdays are definitely for getting spoiled, and I think you should get extra spoiled since this is your first time celebrating. ( His quiet smile widens more towards a grin. )

You sure you don't want a party? We could get some people together, celebrate, maybe play some games. Or if you don't wanna do that, maybe we could go do something fun later today.

Thank you, Peter! You're the first to say that to me in 12 years! I do quite agree that the person whose birthday it is should get to feel deeply loved, but I worry about making a fuss.

Well, I would, but it's terribly short notice. Though, if it was just you, Rose, Luna, and I, that would still be such a wonderful birthday party!

Would a party make you uncomfortable? [there's a beat as he considers something, then in his typical placid tone:] It's just I think it probably does matter, to people who care about you. That kind of attention can be kind of overwhelming though.

( Peter can understand why it'd be a weird concept to her, though, considering the kind of upbringing she's had. This all must be strange for her. And while he's not one to really do celebrations or.... generally make much effort for things (he'd just as happily sleep through his own birthday, in all honesty), he is finding that there's not a second thought about doing something special for the younger. It's with a little pinch of his heart; he remembers not doing much for Charlie's birthdays over the recent years. )

We could do a little thing, yeah! You two could come over, we could get some food up. If you want. No pressure either way. ( His smile softens again, before he has to add, tone shifting to be a bit more playful— )

Well if you don't want a party, usually you would do something special with those that you're closest too. Either go out and have a special dinner, or go to a dance, club, arcade or something where you can have some fun.

But your Birthday is important to others, because it lets them celebrate you. Everyone keeps reminding me about that when I say I don't want anything big either.

Well, I'm very fond of lots of people, so of course I wish to take care of them. That's all I ever wanted growing up was to have someone care about me.

And goodness! You and Rose are going to spoil me so with presents!

Oh no, I live parties! Or I think I do, I was never allowed to attend them back home. But the small party I had with the dwarfs was so much fun! We danced and sung and told stories!

I just haven't had a birthday celebrated since I was 4 or so. It wasn't allowed.

Yes, that's right. Stepmother forbade everyone from acknowledging I exist or they would be thrown in the dungeon or given several lashes. I was forbidden from attending any party, holiday, or ball she held in the castle. But that was before she tried to kill me and then eventually did kill me.

[ok, cross out there being a lot to process about the message before, this one? so much to process. he blinks once, quiet for a very long moment-

before saying in a very solemn tone,] I think if you like parties a lot you should definitely have a party. For your birthday I mean, here. [for going through all that? yes. she deserves this.]

It's alright, I probably would have missed mine if Usagi didn't remind everyone. But I'll remember it for next year and have a cake ready, or I could still make one if you want. It'll be fresh and special just for you and whoever you want to share it with.

( Peter's smile stays soft, trying not to let himself get too gloomy on her. Not now, when things are meant to be nice. But it does hurt his heart to hear that.

Oh, so much spoiling. In fact, there's no rule against celebrating longer than just one day.

( He totally doesn't mind coming up with some surprises — though Peter Graham trying to shop for a young teenage girl is kind of funny; why is there no Claire's around here?? — but he also figures he'll check to see if she wants anything in particular. )

[ It's no coincidence that K's sat at his piano with his Omni propped on the back of it — he begins playing a jazzy rendition of the birthday song for her. And so she'll know he isn't serenading her with just any old random song, he goes ahead and actually sings the first verse in his soft baritone. Certainly a rare occurrence, getting him to sing in public like this (normally he'd be too shy), but Snow deserves it. ]

Wouldn't you like a party? [ Especially since she's never gotten a chance to celebrate before! That should be rectified. ] It would hardly be a waste of food. And I'd be happy to provide the music, if you like. The Red in Cellar Door is a good place for hosting parties.

If you can't get spoiled on your birthday, when can you be? It doesn't sound like a problem to me, anyway.

Well, I would want there to be lots of dancing. I've always wanted to be able to go to the balls my stepmother held where everyone was in beautiful outfits and dancing for hours and hours. And when I danced with the dwarfs, that was so much fun! We all sang and danced and told stories! It was much rowdier music than what is played at the grand balls stepmother held but I liked that music much more.

I'd want there to be all sorts of yummy treats for people to eat as well!

Then how thankful I am that your dear friend reminded you! You're so very special to so many! But it does seem like birthdays are easy to forget around here.

Well, I would want to share it with you, oh, and I would especially wish to share it with Rose. My beloved was very insistent I not make my own cake, as I said.
