[The video turns on and it's everyone's not-so-favorite Sith Lord. He looks better than he did upon arrival though he wears the usual expression of just barely contained fury he's known for. Sitting next to him is a creature that might be the stuff of human nightmares given how they're all teeth. They could have easily been mistaken for a monster in this place were it not for the fact they're remaining perfectly still, Maul's right hand resting along their back.

If you're all done fooling around with these devices like the children half of you are, perhaps we can turn our attention to more serious matters. Oh, and for those of you who had hoped I wouldn't find my way here, so sorry to disappoint.

[Though he sounds anything but.]

For one, I recall a lot of bleating about organizing a government and such during your charming little witch hunt of me. I assume for most you that was all talk but surely there has to be a few enterprising souls that were serious. If so, let us talk more. I am most curious given I have some experience with running an entire planet. [Venge, the Maalraas sitting by Maul, paws him gently.] Oh and has anyone else found themselves suddenly with an animal companion?

[Then, having blithely insulted a good three-fourths of the population, the video is turned off.]

From what I can tell, both places we've ended up in tend to have locals that are complete morons.

Figuring out how to control your emotions and letting go of things like anger isn't weakness. Some people might argue it actually makes you stronger.

[She knows there's little point in arguing with him about this, but at the same time, she's fairly confident he won't hurt her in his current state, so there's little to deter her either.]

I would absolutely not put that past a few of them. Him especially.

But they do seem to have strange differences in personality, so it may be unwise to paint them as all the same. their attitudes may vary somewhat, leading to different dangers.

It took me thirteen years to shake off the loyalty I felt towards him. Is it going to take thirteen more to rid myself entirely of his ghost?

Good. Maybe some of them will have a sense of mercy, or if not that, then at least justice.

Be wary what you wish for there. A being like them with a sense of justice might be rather absolu...

I did make it a whole year before. The only limb I chopped off in Deerington was Glitch's and the little pest deserved it. But the way everyone carries on you'd think I did it every month or something.

You know me well. Yes, such a train of thought from one of them is something I could agree on quite well.

[She should have seen him jumping from Force choking to limbs being chopped off and she should have seen Glitch getting brought up again. She frowns.]

He didn't. But we're past that conversation. [Because Maul will forever say Glitch deserved it, Usagi will forever say he didn't. Neither was going to budge but considering it was over whether someone deserved to have their limbs chopped off, Usagi was 100% feeling in the right.]

Remember how we talked about how threatening people and then not following through with said threat isn't some big gesture of kindness?

[She doubts he'll actually do it, but clearly, she's pushed him more than far enough. She holds her hands up to show she really didn't mean any harm.]

Are you really sure that's what you want? You'll lose any progress you've made with your cure, and that will hurt both of us.

[Yep, any chance Maul had ever had of feeling badly for the incident went right out the window after Ironwood and Glitch did their best to make him a public pariah. He's gonna forever dig his heels in about this.]

And what else can I do then? I won't apologize and crawl on my belly, groveling to everyone on how much I have wronged them and how I shall feel guilty forever over it. We both know that's not me.

You have time enough in this place. Why not seize it instead of measuring it?

Yes, that was one of the first things I noticed upon my arrival. It is truly a relief to be surrounded by familiar sights again. I hope you will allow me to assist you with the fashions of this world since these clothes differ from modern ones.

[Maul, you need help with fashion, ok? She wants you to look fashionable. She wants to believe you'll do the same if they ever get transported to Space World.]

I suspect the same. We are not free from torment here. I would much rather be realistic than pretend that everything is better now. At least we knew what to expect in Deerington. We do not yet understand the rules of this world.

I, I mean...I'd like to think that's not so sudden an issue? Like...nobody's running around crazy right now, are they?

The Reckoning. I've heard stories already. They're an absolutist, and have a very extreme view of justice and an eye for eye. But I suspect they're a razor's edge to walk.

They don't need to be perfect, but we need to know what we're dealing with here. We're in a brand new world and none of it makes sense. But we won't do that by a hostile takeover.

[Sorry, Maul, he has i s s u e s with people in power wielding it wrongly and he doesn't trust you not to do that. ]

Why, why don't you like democracies? I'll admit, they're not perfect. I read a lot about them in Deerington, about how they've failed, but also how they've succeeded! I think a representative democracy, one that's truly representative, is the fairest form of government. But, if you disagree, I'd love to hear what you think is a better choice.

Maul, Maul, you're being so pessimistic! We just got here! You have to keep the faith. This is our new home, at least for now. We have to do our best to make it work for us.

I should have expected you to say that. You always see the good in situations.

[And usually in people too. Though Maul is still wondering if he's perhaps beyond that point even with someone who has as much light within them as Obi-Wan does. He has done a great deal to cause him pain.]

Progress? Bah! [He clearly doesn't believe he's made any at all since he was put under this curse.] Progress with me is already measured in millimeters. Sliding back a bit won't affect me all that much.
