Good day, everyone~! Wow, does this little jewel really have moving pictures? And I thought Uncle Oscar's camera has exciting... I have so much to catch up on that I don't even know where to sta~rt.

Oh but where are my manners? That's a good starting point, huh? I'm Oz Vessalius! From what I'm hearing, it seems I'm suuper new here! Anyone else in the same boat? I've never been a squid before and I don't know what the Trenches are, AND I don't know what to call this little Jewel.

[His energy levels come under control quite suddenly; His smile maintained and childish demeaner tucked away for a more serious conversation topic.]

From what I've gathered, this isn't the first time that some of you were taken away from home. It's going to be hard for me to make informed choices about the situation if I'm not informed. And I can't be helpful if I don't know what I'm doing, hm?

I'm new too. Everything's fucking weird and we're all from different places but I'm kind of used to that now.

We do seem to be from different places. Tell me: Are moving pictures normal where you're from? Is this magic like my bunny friend or science like a photo camera? Do you know? Even this jewel turning into a typewriter without keys is new to me.

This place is more and more of a trip the more I talk to other people. Jeez.

Yeah, moving pictures are normal where I come from. It's called a video. Or a gif, depending. I guess it'd be called science or rather technology where I'm from but I have no clue if it's science/tech or magic here. Seems like both.

I see. So it's possible with technology, but both magic and science here? That's interesting~!

But a trap isn't good, is it? Are others trying to get free?

Ah yes. Sorry. So we all woke up as squids, but a number of us came from some place called 'Deerington.' And I haven't heard anyone talk favorably about that place. What about you? Any good reviews?

[Oz is delighted to get a response from his friend too. Practically bouncing on his heels as comes to pick up the Omni and make the conversation more personal. For all of the stresses of the Trench, at least he gets to be yelled at by Elliot again.]

How about a discussion instead? [The man shown has his long red hair pulled back but he has a calm air about him. It’s at odds with the dragon laying flat across his lap. The dragon has no front forelimbs but has talons on its wings.]

[Specific questions, though... Oz has so many that he isn't sure when ones to prioritize. At least he knows of one easy starting point.]

And I’ll tell you what I told another person. I went back home but over time it felt unreal as if all I knew was…not quite as real as I was. Then the door appeared and I chose to step through it.

[Oz nods slowly. There's some interesting information there that is definitely worth tucking away for later.]

When you say 'the end' of Deerington, I assume you mean the nightmare ending? I was told that you were stuck in someone's nightmare. Is that your understanding of it too?

[Diluc nods once,] Julia Sodder’s dream.

To put it simply, a lot of people made mistakes that caused a tragedy. The nightmare was a product of that. But dreams can’t last.

Everyone has to wake up eventually. Even beings that are more than we have ever been.

[He can tell he’s delighted which is all the more annoying. That’s find because it means he can distract Oz from being weird on the network by being weird at him.]

Of course I have! I’ve learned that if you find the right kind of sea shell, the terse woman manning the cart off the boardwalk will give you tea!

Wait... if a camera was your idea of something exciting you will probably have your mind blown by other things. Did you know cameras can take moving pictures for example? But they are different from the ones you seem to know as they work differently but still have the same name.

[Is she doing this at all seriously? Actually yes because damn it he needs to know these things apparently.]

[Oz can’t be mean to Elliot… but he doesn’t have to be the nicest version of himself either.]

[She seems pretty enthusiastic about the moving pictures! Oz chuckles, deciding to get caught up in her energy on purpose.]

Nope, we don't have that where I'm from! But I can imagine... if you can take one picture, why not a hundred of them?

[He can't help but sigh. Pitying Julia right away, because after all: Everyone has said she had a nightmare. No one said it was a dream. How awful it must have been to be trapped in her own nightmare.

[You know, because this happened before he found Oz. This is clearly Oz’s fault and not just some circumstance out of their control.]

It’s serviceable. It’s nothing compared to what I used to have at home, obviously, but we’ve had it every morning and it’s definitely grown on me.

I think the way it’s made here is different? I could not identify everything in it and it has a bit of an earthy taste.

With how much it’s been raining, I can’t imagine many plants survive rather than rot. Quality tea will be hard to come by.

[Oz giving a down to Earth reply, theatrics turned off for this very serious matter of tea. Also, genuinely wanting to make sure Elliot and him are safe and informed.]

Right now, I’m trying to learn more about this nightmare town that so many people came from. You heard much about it yet?

[He looks away from the screen to stare into the middle distance. The dragon slips off his lap and attached to his belt is a red gem that seems to pulse with a rhythmic ruby red light.

His voice lowers, gentles slightly.] I don’t know.

Mm, and I’ve heard that trade from other lands is incredibly dangerous. This place has a monster problem such that there’s entire lines of work to go about exterminating them.

[Which he has been looking into.]

[Oz will be making a point to find out as well. He knows it's wrong of him, but he can't stop thinking about Alice. It'll bother him forever if he doesn't know that girl is okay.]

I've been many things before now, but never a squid. But... blood changes? What do you mean by that?

[Diluc rolls his sleeve up to expose a bandage that spans from his wrist to his elbow. The blood staining the bandages is blue and crystallized. He turns his arm to face the view as he hooks a finger into the edge of the bandages.

He peels it back and the crystallized blue blood is there, holding - what looks like a gash - closed.] You can feel it if you focus on it.

It feels right and not, my blood never did this before. When it drips from a wound it immediately hardens. Anyone that touches it gets burned. A companion of mine never had green streaks in his blood.

Even if he strikes like a viper.

That's exactly how it works. I think. I don't actually know. But you can get sound and such to. It's pretty amazing. You can make movies and then watch them with popcorn.

[Because popcorn with movies is awesome.]

[It's endearing to see someone so passionate about something, especially amidst their otherwise dark circumstances. So even though he is struggling to keep up, Oz laughs to encourage her.]

Eh~ Sounds like you have a lot of experience with it. I wonder what sorts of things people make movies of? Animals? Dancing?

It depends on what the person wants. Some do film animals and those are usually called documentaries. I don't watch them as much unless it's about idols or something I like. I myself am a fan of romantic comedy.

I'm just a sucker for romance, really.

I don't know? How old are you? This is a surprisingly important question.

[Ah, how old is he? Oz had been wondering if his own uncle was named after him, but that seems kind of... creepy. and weird.]

[She just laughed at that answer.]

I have time. But honestly it sounds like you and him really are in the same boat.

[There is the briefest of hesitations. After all, Oz had only just learned the truth of his life before he had to leave it behind. He's hardly had time to let it sink in, let alone learn how to explain it to people.

But he doesn't see any harm in practicing this skill on Ruby. She seems kind enough.]

I suppose it may be best to begin with, "I was a stuffed rabbit until a couple of hundred years ago?" Ah... If my uncle were really named for me, that should be so gross and creepy.
