[There was some adjusting before the young and very pale girl sat back, looking past as if something was holding whatever was recording-]

Just keep it steady, Dinah!

[-letting out a breath then, sitting on a spread blanket and a basket just in view beside her covered with a cloth.

That was definitely a few gravestones in the background. All the same, Alice kept her tone surprisingly bright, even calm.]

Hello, I'm Alice. I know some of you are still popping in and out of the catacombs- or perhaps you're waiting for someone else to come up? Well, I live nearby and figured some of you might like some food after what bits of horror can be going on down there.

Food can be very comforting after all, right?

[A tap of a finger against the basket's side.]

I've a few hand pies of various flavors, along with more savory empanadas that someone kindly taught me about, and how to make. Hopefully I am very easy to spot if you are already out here! If not, I can try to come to you.

[She might look familiar to those who have met her darker haired twin also named Alice.]

Ah- I've also some tea on hand, if any desire a cup.

[Dipper has been blissfully free of catacomb shenanigans, but he's heard of them. To that end, Alice is someone he likes and so-]

Let me know if you need help getting any baking supplies or anything. We've got some extra at the house.

[Break works in a bakery, but he doesn't know how much of the product he's allowed to get his hands on, and if she were helping anyone who climbed out of the graves, who knows how many people that would be.]

Have you seen any zombies yet?

Oh, that would be a wonderful help, Dipper! I'll let you know, and perhaps you could help me make a few more? Maybe we could make shapes to cheer some up if they're in the mood for eating fun shapes.

[Careful as she was trying to be, Xerxes definitely kept the kitchens well stocked, but she would feel bad about using too much of it. It was for others and even everyone in the house- she'd left a plate in the kitchen, after all.

... Dinah's purring could probably be heard around the feed.]

Not yet! But I've made sure I'm above the ground and not touching any of the stones just in case. Be a terrible way to be grabbed from below, right? [How many horror movies and talks with Dipper has gotten her here?]

I did spot a black shadow, but it's been keeping a distance.

[Oh, he is being invited. He looks surprised for a moment but then a little smile creeps onto his face. He's had ...not a great month, honestly, with his uncle leaving. A distraction would be nice.]

Yeah, definitely. That kind of dough takes really well to shapes and cutters, right? I bet we could make all kinds of cool stuff.

[He will get up and the camera follows him as he heads down the stairs. Alcaid is being a helper. he will go take stock of the kitchen now.]

Having dealt with zombies multiple times I can say nothing is worse for your mood then getting zombie grabbed.

[He starts to rummage through the shelves of the kitchen. Predictably, he turns his head to look back at the feed at the mention of a shadow, curiosity piqued.]

A shadow?

[Honestly, distractions always seemed helpful, even if only for a moment, and with all her time deciding that she was good at it -even if mainly with one Xerxes Break- that she enjoyed it. Good distractions, rather than the kind her life had been filled with that kept her adrift without a grounding.

These? Were grounding, so she felt.]

Right! You could cut little shapes when you pierce the dough to keep it all from exploding out, but you have to account for the fruit juice bleed a bit. [A faint laugh-] I made quite the horrid face on a round one, so that one went to the house's kitchen amongst those left for the others.

[She had scooted more to the edge of her 'picnic' blanket, legs hanging over and out of view.]

All the more reason to not touch the ground- perhaps not so lucky for those wandering from the catacombs, but I can fix that a little, too.

[Nodding as she spoke.] Oh yes, a shadow.

It is a little funny shaped, and no taller that some of the stones out here. Darting about as if avoiding something. I cannot tell if it has long ears, or a strange hat.

[It's better than cooping himself up in his house, like he has been. It is also nice that there are people here who would go out of their way to invite him to do fun things. He's been away from his homeworld for quite some time, but it still hits him a kind of way whenever he remembers he's made good friends here.]

Just like making a jack o' lantern! But ...definitely way tastier.

[Or a jack o' melon, depending on your time of year.]

If you do encounter one, I've got a new spell I could use on it if it gets hostile.

[Oh that was interesting.]

The size of the stones ...that's pretty small for a shadow. Usually Shadow People are known for being taller or more exaggerated than shadows usually were. That's what makes them kind of spooky to deal with.

Oh, that's true! I wonder what other faces could be made- perhaps a bigger hand-pie, even if that contradicts the name a little, to give it multiple faces.

[Mutually beneficial, as excited as she was of this newfound freedom, outside of her wanderings Alice was a little hesitant to speak to all of the new faces she saw once the excitement calmed and everything really hit her. It didn't go away, and the horrors of this world affected people differently than it did her.

Comings and goings, and what people could be twisted to do. A better pace to be taken, perhaps.]

Better to have it hadn't than not, yes? Especially given how close to this place I live.

[A hum, and perhaps her feet were swinging, but only the tops of her knees were in frame with how the skirt fabric fell over them.]

All the more curious as to what it could be- or perhaps it really is hiding from something so being smaller helps despite that? It watches me from time to time, as if it thinks I've forgotten its presence.

I mean, who's to say its not for someone with really big hands?

[We're gonna make a monster pie, is what Dipper is getting out of this. A horrible fruit abomination. A terror born of fire and pastry to strike fear into the hearts of man-]

Prepared means no worries, right? I'll show it to you when I come over. It's a pretty easy spell to do and it should make zombie heads explode.

[Was that a Break-ism? Don't worry about it.]

Huh. Do you think it's something that followed you out of the house? Or did you only notice it in the graveyard.

[He does not worry for Alice's safety, exactly, but if a ghost is going to try and creep on her, he will be over there MUCH quicker.]

Very true- and even if we make it too big, it can always be cut to fit! Easier to share one large hand pie.

[Wasn't that just a regular pie? Shush. Monster pie was going to live and be a horrible abomination that was delicious and terrible all at once.]

A good exploding would serve as a warning for any others creeping about- above or below! To those that would have a mind to heed any sort of warning.

[In other words? Yes, a good idea and she was looking forward to learning it.

Lips pressed together, head tilted to the side as if trying to catch sight of something in the corner of her vision; thoughtfully.]

It could possibly have, some of those in the house can wander this far at least. I wonder if that would mean they've got pieces of them lost out here.

Have you managed to stay out of there thus far, Alice?

[Oz has been dragged into the rude test one time too many. The last straw would be hearing that Alice had also been forced to deal with such a horrific place.]

Mhm. [She thinks so at least- honestly. Even if that took her a second, head tilted to look back towards the graveyard, and the area most were coming up.

... She was probably just out here to look at the statues and make sure none of the bat cats got lost out there again. Yeah. Well, until now.]

I still know it as been so very rough, and worse, on some who ended up down there- so, I figured it would be better to allow some of them a bit of something sweet -or not so sweet- to try and help them feel better for a moment. Food helps others feel better, doesn't it?

[He's relieved to hear that she hasn't gone down there. That somehow makes his trips a lot easier to bear. Oz sighs in relief, then attempts a smile.]

I think you're right. Some warm tea and sweets can help ground anyone. Has anyone taken you up on your offer so far?

I've even made the empanadas for those who might not feel like a hand pie, so they get to have that choice. [Which should help further, right? Not be stuck to something- even if most of the empanadas had mushroom to help with stretching what bit of meat she had on hand to use.

Honestly? It tasted good to her.]

Not yet, but I've left some of the kitchen table if you're in or around the house and would like to try one, Oz. A few of them look a little strange, but that doesn't change their taste.

[He wonders if her offer is because she knows he's been down there too, or just made because she knows that he likes snacks. Oz chuckles likely, offering a reply that will only subtly show his hand.]

We should save them for your sister. There's not much meat left, right?

I'm happy to see you having a picnic. [And knowing he didn't abandon her down there when he escaped.] It looks like fun!

I have some of the empanadas placed back just for her! She ate some when Reaper was teaching me about some foods, and made them for the Halloween movie night had a few months ago, so I know she likes them. [Guess who taught her how to make empanadas- and what and empanada even was. So really, it was alright for Oz to have a few of those, or just stick with hand pies if he so wished.

She helped one o the bat cats up on to the blanket beside her, one of the smaller ones that had misjudged a jump.]

It's nice out here, despite things you know. [Define 'nice'.] Better to have a friendly face, even if that of a stranger, after whatever goes on down there.

Ah, right. Mr Reaper is that new friend of yours, right? I've still yet to chat with him myself.

[Oz has kept himself busy in the archives lately.]

It really is nice out, isn't it? Despite everything, this place can be quite nice to live in. And you've gotten good at not just finding nice picnic spots, but nice new friends.

Yes, he is. I think Alice finds him suitable enough, too- I know she worried because he's an adult. Perhaps you shall chat with him one day! Another time he visits, whenever that may be.

[They all know what happened the last time a grown ass man was nice to her, so Alice was honestly understandable of why her sister was suspicious. Very, very understandable.]

This world's horrors are simply not hidden for the most part, even if some can still sneak up. [Some monsters may still whisper promises, of course. More human faces to them.] I've been enjoying stretching my legs, and even the shop keepers have been kind.

I've just resurfaced from that hellhole for the third time in three weeks. Some snacks and tea would be greatly appreciated. [And she sounds it. Sayo's voice is cracked and exhausted. While the various moral dilemmas and traps were easy to deal with at this point—and she's gotten plenty of practice in tackling idiot heroes out of burning houses—having to look Battler and George (always the two of them, but there were a few additions of faces that were only familiar to Sayo after months in Trench this time, which put her in a particularly dour mood) in the eye as they told her they loved her and confessing her mountain of sins to the darkness has taken its emotional toll.]

I'm in the graveyard where the catacombs let out- here, I can make it easier. Let me know if you spot it, otherwise I can try and give better directions.

[Whatever was recording her stayed in place as Alice stood herself up on the blanket, skirts smoothed down. Thinking back, hands were held together out of view and-

There was a flare of light sent upwards, bursting in to a rainbow of colors just above where she was. Fireworks, she thought of. Bit of gold here and there given just how much golden lights clung to her being, but the other colors a burst of something else. Something new to add almost.

A colorful display that should have been easy to spot-]

If you don't see the lights, I can try something else.

My... [Despite the fatigue evident in her tone, genuine wonder leaks into Sayo's voice as she watches the lightshow. No matter how many miracles and how much magic Trench shows her, it will never, ever get old to the girl who dreamed of being a witch on lonely nights. A smile tugs at her face when she sees the golden lights, too. It feels like coming home; something she desperately needed after these past few weeks and this latest foray into the catacombs.] Don't worry, I can see it clearly. It's beautiful.

I'm on my way.

[Sayo arrives dressed in a black turtleneck, a red leather jacket (with a cobra design emblazoned on the black, thanks, Lawrence-sensei), and faded black jeans, offering Alice a weak smile as she sits down. Between the outfit and the lack of Shannon's usual plethora of padding and makeup, she looks like an entirely different person than she was just a few weeks ago—and it crosses Sayo's mind that Alice has never actually seen Shannon before. It's an oddly lightening feeling, realizing that she's finally meeting someone without the weight of expectations of who Sayo ought to be.] ...thank you. On both my behalf and everyone else that's crawling out of the catacombs. Having something like this my first two times would've eased the blow at least a little bit.

[The first thing that came to mind, having gotten to experience fireworks for the first time in this place- why not use that and a mix of something familiar? To be a sign of something solid and warm, that could be sorely needed after something so awful? It seemed like a fitting thing.]

Good! I'll remain here.

[A few of the bat cats had gone to sleep, and white skirts were pooled around Alice again as he had a pot of tea floating nearby, steam wafting front the spout. It would be nice for a cup of tea soon enough.]

I wish I had thought of it sooner, but it took me a little to figure out what I could do that might be needed. [It took a bit, distracted as Alice could still get at times. Still, she was lifting the basket up to take the bit f fabric away at was helping keep the mix of hand pies and empanadas warm-] The tea might take a moment, but do you need a sweeter pie or something savory?

[Sayo sits down demurely, much of the tension leaving her shoulders. On most days, the grim atmosphere of a graveyard in Trench would dampen the liveliness of a tea party, but after being surrounded by the bones of the catacombs for hours on end it didn't seem that bad in comparison. She gently strokes one of the sleeping batcats while Alice gets the tea ready, careful not to wake it. At least the chimerical felines were always adorable.]

Something sugary, I think. Trudging through miles of underground passages is a good excuse as any to indulge my sweet tooth. [She giggles, as opposed to her usual throaty cackle. Not all of Shannon's gentle mannerisms were lies.]

[It certainly didn't hurt that Alice had a little horde of them following her, given she fed and took care of them; always partial to cats simply because one had been her only trusted companion outside of her sister and Oz.

Dinah was somewhere nearby, even if for the moment small enough to be out of sight.]

I've a few that are chocolate cream- would you rather fruit? [She lifted both up, letting them float from the basket, and at least they could be told apart- the mixed fruit pie had little 'this is a fruit pie' bleed from where she'd cut one side of the crust so it wouldn't explode.] Take either, or even both, if you'd like.

There is enough.

[Before a sort of protest, to know it truly would be okay to take more than one- and just one was okay, too.]

Since I've finally left the underworld, it seems a waste not to eat the fruit now that it's safe for mortal tongues, hm? [Now that quip gets a cackle out of Sayo. Tea parties were both the domain of both witches and furniture, after all.

She takes the fruit pie and dives in, relief at finally tasting something other than dry dust and human bone clear on her face. While she joked about the fruit pie, she also takes up Alice's offer to try out the chocolate one—not too long ago she would've pretended to fret over which one to eat and insisted on only having one to keep to Shannon's character, so it's a relief to indulge herself.]

What kind of tea are you preparing? It smells delectable.

[There was a soft laugh-] Having actual food is a warm welcome given tea parties created of nothingness and everything. This is the first time I've made either on my own.

[The hand pies and empanadas- and after a few attempts and leaving the ones that wouldn't travel well in the kitchen, she'd succeeded and it was a nice feeling. To create something edible all on her own.

Not too bad, and she had a pair of good teachers- even if one was half a hobby.

She took the tea pot in hand, a tea up floating up to pour it in to.]

Apple cinnamon! I thought, perhaps, the warming flavor might be good if any were chilled to the bone of being undergrounds. I find the taste comforting. [She liked the season of Fall, where the flavor sounded like it was more common.

The tea cup was offered with a soft smile.]

If it isn't to your liking I have a normal black tea, too.

That's very kind of you. [ kaneki can't eat, but he means it. It's nice to see people want to help each other ]

This may be a long shot - but would you also have coffee?
