[Ada was thankfully starting to already adjust to how to use this device. Sure she had only used it at least once, but it seemed simple enough. It was some time though before she sent anything. There was a reason she was for the most part sticking to text for this particular subject. Mostly the whole the people she knew didn't know she knew about this stuff and figures text makes it harder for them to know it's her.]

This may seem a bit odd to ask, but does anyone know about certain occult type of items? This world seems like it has a tonne of things that most people would find odd or unusual, but I might find fascinating.

Like back home I use to have this huge collection of occult stuff in my basement that were all really interesting. You name it I probably had it. But with this world it made me wonder if perhaps there were items that I might not have been able to get.

It makes me excited to find out. Even if it's just some new books to read, anything would be wonderful~

Occult items are not toys to be collected out of sheer interest or boredom. You put yourself and others in danger when you treat them this way. A trip to the archaic archives might help you to understand this.

It's a museum as well, it has a large number of items on display. Scholars are constantly bringing in new artifacts, and the library has an extensive collection dedicated to occult origins and sacred objects.

Exactly, also the objects people find here are not exclusive to this world, although they do make up the majority of items on display. Besides educating, sharing these artifacts is a way to expose them in the hopes that maybe someone will have more information especially if the object's origins are questionable. I visit the archives frequently, but I haven't contributed to the museum just yet. My field of study is cursed objects.

You're not the first person I've met who collected items related to the occult. Previous experiences inspire me to ask the reasons for your intense interest.

[Oh!! Now this is a subject Zib is very much interested in.]

You said you had a whole collection of cool occult stuff back home? What was in it, if you don't mind my asking?

You might do better to ask what objects aren't occult, here, so you can avoid them. I'm sure it'd be a shorter list.

Man are you in the right city.

[Seriously. Still! It's neat to see someone interested in spooky things like he is.]

But actually, you might really like The Odd End over in Cassandra. They've got a lot of neat stuff you won't find anywhere else in Trench.

Switches to Private

[ OOC: He is a private boy that doesn't want to share what he does with the entire network** ]

Recently, a series of portals from other planes of existence opened up throughout the Trench. Scattering different objects, mythical creatures, and in some cases even people. Whoever or whatever is able to wield that kind of power is definitely worth investigating.

I am trained in locating and exorcizing curses. In certain circumstances, some curses are too powerful to be outright expelled and must be constrained instead. Since I am not as proficient in the latter, I've been studying various talisman techniques as these seem to be particularly effective in subduing the highest level threats.

Before I continue, I have to ask, should I be aware of any other reasons you are interested in the occult other than what you have already mentioned?

That's incredible he got out, I wonder how he was able to do that? He must have been scared once he found out what you were up to. But ultimately that was kind of you to do for your brother.

Before being brought here, I was in a similar situation with my sister. She was put in a coma due to a curse and I've been trying to break it for over a year now. I'm not sure any of us will ever be able to return to our previous lives, but if I do, I want to be sure I have a solution for her.

It isn't my usual forte, so to speak, no.
But I do have at least a little experience in the weird items in this place.
They mostly make a heck of a lot of trick weapons with blood seals and the like.
Since, you know, self defense is sorta important.

You are bound to make a collection here. Trust me.

It sounds like you're worried he wouldn't like you being interested in occult studies. I presume because of the risk involved?

An iron maiden!? Like an authentic one, or just a replica of one?

[Either way, very cool.]

I don't mind hearing more--it's not like I've got anywhere else to be.

It's one of the few places in town that doesn't have a focus on blood magic, and instead it has a lot of stuff I'd consider more traditional occult? So it's full of weird baubles, old books, neat looking plants and stuff.

[He actually really likes the place. You can always find something new there.]

Definitely! I make it kind of my business to get involved in the supernatural. If you ever have a ghost problem, you can give me a call.

[He knows it's unlikely, knows that it's a long shot. Still, he can't shake the feeling that he's talking to someone he knew in a past life, and not even the particularly distant past.]

Did it help? The situation with your older brother, I mean.

I believe you're speaking to us through an occult device right now.

[but, someone should probably say it:]

The Archives in Gaze have as many books on magic and monsters as anyone could ever read. Some of them even come from other worlds than this one.

[he doesn't know this is his sister yet......]

There are some stores that have occult looking things, yeah. And some of the practices here sound sort of... occult?

I've been told that we should burn incense for protection, as an example.

Is there anything in particular that you're looking for?
