[hey everyone it's princess alayne fancy satchel. but actually this post takes place about a week before vi's search efforts because I can never manage to make a network post on time.
sansa wears a blue-grey dress in light cotton with lightly belled, elbow-length sleeves, embroidered with silver leaping trout and muted greenery hiding silver-grey wolves. the buckle of her needle necklace glints with dark bloodstone. she looks tired, but excited. she sits in front of her customary raven-and-weirwood tapesty, and lady sits next to her in a matching embroidered collar, now the size of a grey wolf.]
Hallo, I'm called Alayne Stone. Most of you know me for the clothes I make, but I've also been studying with a jeweler for some time. I recently found my own blood gem tool in the tunnels, and I'm very glad to say I've learned to make all kinds of bloodstone with it. Of course I'm best with my own blood, so my pale bloodstone will be strongest, but I have found the other bloodstone I've made effective enough.
I'm very interested in making vile bloodstone that can be worn by Palebloods to help with the blood curses, and of course I'm glad to make pale bloodstone for Vilebloods to help prevent corruption. I've heard the coming season of blood might be a difficult one, and I should like to do what I can to help see us all through it.
[she pauses and looks down a little, somber. lady whines and rests her head in sansa's lap.]
I'm afraid I do have some bad news. Lady Amaterasu has returned to the sea, where she will no doubt look after our friends and family who remain there. She leaves us her heart [sanctuary] trees, and I've found some comfort in them. I hope those of you who knew her can do the same.
[private to adaine abernant]
Can you send this just to Adaine? Thank you.
[she grins.]
Hallo, Adaine. I should be very glad to replace the bloodstone on your jacket, whenever you have time.

Seems like a lot of people are going back.
[ He's only like. Mildly bitter about the idea. The whole idea that everyone eventually leaves you is something he's had to fight very hard against and some of the mechanics of this place challenge that hard.
But that's EMOTIONAL and he hates being emotional. ]

Yes, Raleigh and his husband went back as well. I've been trying to help all the workers keep the farm going.

It's very kind of you to offer. I imagine you'd be very good at bringing in the harvest; it's too bad they don't have a grain crop. Still, I'll let you know if they need someone who can pull carrots and onions very quickly.

[ He had to learn that he can't carry a basket and pick things up at the same time in rehab, probably. ]

I know. Very often the same men that bring in the harvest fight in the battlefields on my world. But Lady Peggy might be able to help you with that, if you wanted. I'm told she works with mages to make arms and legs that can listen to your mind and do what you bid them.
[quite a few night walkers are proud of their elegant protheses. sansa has even been called in to consult on one or two custom pieces.]

It's just... shocking to him to think someone like god -- also possibly the closest he's come to actually truly believing in a god -- could be gone-yet-not-gone like that. ]
Do you think we should do something at the trees? In memory of her?
So that going forward people who didn't know her will still know what she did.

Tanabata Festival would honor her and the trees justly.
Text
A Tanabata festival?
What's that?
Re: Text
Traditionally, you write down a wish on a small colorful piece of paper called a tanzaku, and hang it on bamboo branches, in the hopes it'll come true. Streamers and origami (folded paper art usually of animals or flowers), also decorates the trees. A street festival is also common where people gather and eat a variety of foods. Soumen which is a chilled thin noodle is often a favorite because its refreshing in the heat. I also recall fruit cut into tiny star shapes and a variety of grilled meats.
[ The last text comes in a minute after the rest. ]
I am going to miss her. She effected everyone here by giving us the trees, and I think a festival will help to ease the pain of the loss while celebrating the gifts she left behind.
no subject
Do you think we can do it? I'd like to make that happen, too. It feels like the least we can do in her memory.
no subject
I'd really like that, but it's usually a large community event. I don't know if we have all the resources-
[The next message takes a minute to come in.]
But I'd like to try to have some sort of gathering even if it's on the smaller side.
[OOC: this is why the festival is so mesmerizing to Megumi when everything comes together on the scale that it does!!]
un: lady
We should be able to manage it at the Sanctuary.
Text| un: Shadow_Puppet
If you're certain the sanctuary can handle it... if it becomes too much, we can always leave the option for downsizing it open.
[ Loathing the idea of burdening others but also seeing a need for closure and celebration around Ammy's return to the sea-for himself and others.
A beat. The next text takes a moment.]
I can offer you guys as much info about Tanabata as I remember.

[this is a silly joke. she doesn't really expect there to be a tourney, or he would have mentioned it sooner. people usually lead with a tourney.]
It's the least we can do for Lady Ammako, after all she's done for us.
[and if lady luna's theory about the season of blood proves correct, they'll need to make use of every chance to come together and reduce corruption they can get.]
no subject
We could raise a statue of her by the one in the Godswood, and the one at the farm, too, if you like.
[she'll tell allen later about the statues in the crypts at winterfell, and how she promised her family to raise some for them in the catacombs.]
no subject
Godswood? [ He knew about the one at the shores (especially sentimental to him, that one), the farm, and Sakura's clinic, but there's a what now? ]
I like that. Something with a plaque as well so people will always know who she is.
no subject
At the Sanctuary.
[the courtyard. she calls it a godswood. she also calls the sanctuary trees heart trees.]
Oh, I suppose and at the Wellness Center, too.
[she smiles crookedly.]
I can still feel her presence there, as much as I ever did.
no subject
I think that's a good idea. For something to do at all of the trees, really. I know Fushiguro already placed a sign at the one on the beach.
no subject
That would be wonderful. We'll have to tell everyone about her now, so they know who it is that's watching over them.

Yes, I should be very glad of your help in that, and I would be just as glad to give you pale bloodstone jewelry you can wear to prevent corruption.

Well, we should be very glad to help you at the Sanctuary, any time you may feel you're having trouble.

[It's hard sometimes when corruption is taking over to remember things like this, but it's still nice to be reminded about the places he can go in case corruption doesn't take too much of a hold for him to take advantage of it.]
Video; un: darkness
[Look, he's still trying out this whole 'getting along for the sake of the whole community' thing even when he doesn't always particularly like an idea. But at least this time he knows he's getting something out of it.]
Such a shame about Amaterasu. She was more imbued with the Force than nearly any other Sleeper I have met here.
no subject
You could be paid for it, even. I should be glad to trade you finished bloodstone.
[donations are always appreciated, but compensation more usual. she smiles sadly.]
We were very lucky to have known Lady Ammako. Doubtless she will continue putting her great power to good use in the sea.

[Maul's always looking to see what's in it for him by getting along with others, so a reward appeals to that emotionally-stunted part of his mind that's maybe about seven in development.]
But of course. I imagine she's already gathered a number of squids together to protect and watch over. Her trees will be her greatest legacy here on land as well.

[Something which could only benefit all of Trench as well as Maul.]

Do you think it'd work on other blood types?
no subject
[somehow very many of sansa's friends are also palebloods...]
Blood Ministers do make use of pale bloodstone at times, but it works best on Vilebloods and Palebloods. Otherwise it's mainly a source of Paleblood magic, and it's known to cause strange visions. This can induce corruption in people not versed in Paleblood magic.
I do very often treat corruption with my blood hound Knight, though, and we both should be very glad to help anyone whenever they should need it.
no subject
[There does seem to be a lot of them...]
Mm, so it's not a universal cure-all. Still, that's good to know. Thank you for getting this out there.
You were able to get one of those to trust you?
no subject
I've heard Sleepers can learn to produce a sort of ink that cures corruption, but I wouldn't know how to do it.
[that...was brutal.]
Lady helped me with the blood hound.
no subject
I'm sorry, we can do... what?
Where
Where did you hear that?
[He has absolutely no idea how that would work, either.]
Lady? Another Sleeper?
no subject
We have the potions at the Sanctuary. I'm told they come from a woman here. I imagine more information about it might be found at the Archives, if you look.
[also,]
Lady is my dog. I have several, but she's there in the video with me.
no subject
Right, I'll. Look into that, thank you. Just when I didn't need more reasons to tell people to avoid calamari...
[That's supposed to be funny. He's trying to be funny. We're sorry.]
Ah - I see. Congratulations, I heard they're not easy to win over.

Vileblood can help Palebloods with the monthly curses, so I thought vile bloodstone would be better, and not as messy.
[she uh. made a scientific breakthrough....perhaps someone should tell her...]
And pale bloodstone is known to help Vilebloods and Palebloods with corruption, although for Palebloods it also enhances their magic, and they might not be able to control it, sometimes. For everyone else it only lets them perform Paleblood magic, and it has been known to give people strange visions, which can cause corruption if they aren't ready. And vile bloodstone can be poisonous or corrosive to other bloodtypes, so it's most often used in weapons.
I don't know that any other stones have any use in Blood Ministry. I have only ever studied with a jeweler who makes pretty glowing things out of Paleblood and Coldblood. I can make dark bloodstone and cold bloodstone that lets people do a little of that magic when they wear or hold it, but I have never heard of any use for them in treating curses or corruption.
It does seem like something worth learning. I suppose there are a few people I might ask.
no subject
If other stones don't help in that capacity, then I think that answers my question, since I'm a darkblood.
