[It's disgustingly hot and humid and even with most of her hair pulled up and twisted back away from her face, she's got curly tendrils hanging down and a light sheen on her forehead. Ugh. But at least she's back to finding things to keep herself busy.]

My chair is open at Ursula's again, if anyone is looking for regular tattoos or some runework. Want anything more intricate let's talk and we'll see what I need and what deal works for you.

[Best way to act like nothing is wrong is to go right back to what she was doing before, right? Right.]

Catching up on the insane shit y'all love to get up to, but what little changes, a lot stays the same, doesn't it? Like how I still don't know who most of you asses are. Keeping track of the coming and goings ain't easy. Anyone keeping a list?

Is there a difference between the tattoos and runework? [she knows what the former is but not so much the latter but she's curious]

Yeah, there's whole branches of study in different forms of magic where I'm from.

Some work better in certain situations, but runework has a lot of benefits. Sometimes you can't speak verbally, or you need something more concrete.

Right? Ugh.

[Saeri gives an exaggerated shudder.]

I've heard of those two. Varian and I talked a bit when I first got to Deerington. Short, quirky alchemist. Sorry that you lost your housemates. Are you living alone, then?

[Saeri can't help but snort and shake her head just a bit. A little high-strung, this one, but she's cute.]

Nice to meet you, Sumire. No need to apologize. Not every day cute girls chat me up out of nowhere. Gonna say I like the turnaround.

Only if you want there to be. [She adjusts the video, setting her device so its propped up instead of in her hand. She hasn't put on her left hand yet, so she's only working with one. She holds up her right are, showing the long runework tattoo going from her wrist to close to the elbow. A thick, pink scar cuts through it jaggedly, but the tattoo has been touched up over it.]

This is runework. And a tattoo, obviously. But all my tattoos don't have to be magic. You want a cute cartoon bird or one of those trendy hearts-and-arrows things, I got you.

Salty can only work if you balance it properly.

[Luz understood salt with savory, even with sweet, like caramel, but overabundance of salty with sweet was just horrible in her mind]!

That's him all right! We had the tattoo together, actually!

Thank you, and no! We sort of adopted two kids close to my age into our fold, Luca and Ahiru, and we also have a new housemate, Zib. Know any of them?

[There’s a funny little squeak that might come from Sumire, but it sounds a bit like a dog’s chew toy being stepped on, so it’s hard to say. She turns a startled pink, but bows slightly anyway.]

[ There's a soft 'ooh..' kind of noise coming from Chizuru's end of the communication as she's listening to the other. She's clearly impressed. ]

I didn't know there were that many kinds of magic. [ Heck - back home she always thought magic just.. didn't exist at all, let alone different kinds of it.

Still, she's at least gotten used to the existence of magic here, even if what Sarona is telling her is still entirely new information. ]

You must have practiced a whole lot with it then..! Especially since you sound so knowledgeable about it now!

[And her memories from when she was here before feel so recent and yet so far away. It's almost worst than last time and she gained even more memories in a shorter amount of time. Maybe it's because of squid-time.

Once she finished with the ladder, she moved on to the hanging bowls, having to remove them and dust them and everything inside of them before putting them back. Time consuming with one hand, but she's found trying to not scratch up or dent what she's dusting with her metal hand isn't that easy.]

I don't know any of those people though. At least you've got friends to hang with. Just don't get up to too much trouble with them. [A little smirk.]

[Oh dear. How is she not supposed to take advantage of someone who reacts like that? Nothing to perk the mood than flustering a pretty girl with no strings attached.]

Well, I appreciate you're putting in that effort, since it means we get to talk now. Maybe we can swap notes later after we get those lists going.

I've been doing runework my whole life. I learned almost as early as I learned to read. So yeah, you could say I know a bit more than the average joe about it.

[Feed her ego, why don't you. If there is one thing Saeri has never doubted, it's her skills as a runist.]

It's something anyone can learn if they have the time, energy, and hand-eye coordination. Never doubt the importance of penmanship.

[Saeri adjusts her glasses with a little half-smirk.]

Then hello, future pleased customer. Any particular ideas you already have for what you want or will we be freestyling it? And Ursula's is always open for new talent. You just need to show a portfolio of your skill or concepts.

I might have something in mind, but I'll look at all of it.

I'm guessing it's a plus if my whole portfolio's on my skin? [that has to count for something. oh, look, another clever username. she's briefly regretting just going with 'vi' but one more moment and she's over it.]

[She's gotten used to the changes in media when on the network here, so she doesn't even pay attention to the fact she's still on video while the other girl is on voice.]

Most of mine is the same. I gave some freebies when I first got here to pad it and it worked for me. You can ask for Saeri. We'll work out the payment details once I know what you're wanting. Normal ink is cheaper than runework, like I said.

[have a partially cut off visual of this pink haired menace. part of one arm and part of her neck is visible, but the only ink that can be seen is on the side of her neck - an intricate series of blackwork gears- she's still getting a feel for how/where to hold the omni.]

Uh...no, runework is something I learned back home. It's what I do. I'm a rune. I turn magic into written spells. Usually tattoos, engravings, and charms...

[She trails off. So there is something extremely hot about a girl showing off her tattoos. The design, the symbolism, the thickness of the lines...all of them say something about Vi's skill and intent... Maybe she shouldn't be staring so hard.

And then Saeri realizes she's not showing off, she has no idea what she's doing with her omni.]

Little higher up there, and I can see your whole face.

[And maybe stop staring at your tattoos, but Saeri is such a sucker for fine ink.]

[Luz sighed]. It feels weird that he's not here though. Now I feel like my tattoo is half finished even though it's not, and the Bond that we shared feels severed, you know? Like I'm missing something in me.

[It was a bad feeling, one that Luz had honestly been trying to work on that whole month she stayed home. It was important to try and regroup with herself and feel like she was recovering from some of that pain].

Do you need me to do those bowls? It'll probably be faster that way and you can concentrate on something else!

And who knows, maybe you'll meet them around sometime soon! Or, you might meet someone completely new!

[She's still very young at heart, and provides much teasing fodder despite her best efforts. The feed shifts as she sets the device on her knees, and she brings her hands up to smack both of her cheeks lightly before picking it back up.]

[vi doesn't immediately notice the staring - she's, yep - too busy trying to figure out the omni and then come the helpful instructions that allow her to actually get her face into the frame and figure out what that feels like. she grins - it's genuine and full of confidence once she notices saeri checking out her tattoos.]

Thanks. Still getting used to this thing. [...] They're much better in person. [vi: also a sucker for fine ink] No fair if I don't get to check yours out, too. Do I need an appointment for that?

[Saeri knew exactly how Luz felt. The same way she feels right now with a broken bond split three ways. She hates that she feels disconnected unable to sense the Soulcarver as she had been able to for weeks. She hates even more than she can't feel Romero. For very different reasons.]

It will fade, give it time. The benefit of those types of bonds is absence does make the reverb less noticeable.

[She doesn't comment about "meeting someone new" because she's seen how that goes. Either they leave or she does. Instead she keeps the conversation on something else.]

You okay with getting all of them down? There's a stool over there for you to reach, but be careful with the ones full of crystals. Those were a bitch to find.

Oh, so we'd need to meet in person to share what we've found? I'm good with that.

[She gives a little wink.]

More like I know how to funnel magic through a conduit. Some people use wands, stones, natural magically-enhanced items, all that jazz. I prefer the ink. And like you said, what better canvas that your own skin?

[And yeah, Saeri is definitely trying not to stare too hard at what ink she can see. So she takes the moment to adjust her omni so it's propped up, away from her hand so she can show off the tattoo that runs down her right arm. It's a line of interconnecting and overlapping ancient runes, rough, sharp, and then dotted around like someone connected constellations. A thick, jagged scar--like an electrical burn--cuts through most of it, but has been reinked over where it disrupted the runes.]

This is an older work of mine. Not my best but very effective. Been trying for more of an artist's flare lately. If you want to see more, you'll need more than an appointment. [She chuckles.]

[For a moment, "ink" confuses her, but then she remembers Saeri's mention of tattoos, and she frowns thoughtfully.]

I'm not so sure about tattoos-- I certainly don't mind if others have them, but I'm only sixteen, and my father is a pretty traditional Japanese man... Assuming it carried over if I ever got home, that is.

[She doesn't tease her about it. That counts for something, maybe.]

Oh, I see. Not the kind of line you want to cross yet. I can respect that. I could still give you a charm or a runestone. They come in handy.
