Only if you want there to be. [She adjusts the video, setting her device so its propped up instead of in her hand. She hasn't put on her left hand yet, so she's only working with one. She holds up her right are, showing the long runework tattoo going from her wrist to close to the elbow. A thick, pink scar cuts through it jaggedly, but the tattoo has been touched up over it.]

This is runework. And a tattoo, obviously. But all my tattoos don't have to be magic. You want a cute cartoon bird or one of those trendy hearts-and-arrows things, I got you.

Is that part of an ability you got here?

Pretty much. And no, I learned runework back home and just brought it here. The fancy blood just makes it easier.

[Being able to turn her blood into ink without having to reprocess it is pretty awesome, despite so much else being a massive Suck.]

It makes it easier with your bloodtype? In what way?

Making the right kind of ink involves a process. Finding the right plants, animals, materials, additives. Since coming here I've been able to turn blood into ink. Pretty sure that's from being a darkblood.

Yeah, that does sound easier. So back home, there was a lot more involved in actually doing it?

Would depend on the kind of ink, but it could take me a week to get a good batch sometimes. Making ink by hand is messy but fun.

[That could lead to 50 hours without sleep while you mix everything precisely and still manage to only make enough for a 5 ounce inkwell. Fun.]

Is that what you meant by finding the right things for it— that you're essentially making different kinds of ink?

That does sound very time consuming.

Yeah, it can be. It's magic. Do it right or get ready for the consequences.

I take it you're not from a world where you're used to magic?

Yeah, it's not much of a thing back home. I've learned more about during my time here.

I've run into a few people from worlds like that since I got here. This place isn't like what I know back home, but I guess it's a lot closer for me than it is for you.

You got someone working with you about it?

No, I don't. I've been trying to figure it out and learn on my own for the most part. [which isn't to say she's opposed to it but she hasn't really known who to ask specifically]

Ah...trial and error can be fun if you enjoy the discovery phase, but it takes so long. What kind of blood do you have? If ya don't mind me asking.

Yeah, it definitely took me some time to figure things including my blood type. [because unlike most people, her blood colour ended up being the same as it was back home] I'm a darkblood though.

Oh. Same. Bleeding glitter was an experience the first time before I figured it out. You managed to turn it into anything yet?

Yeah— not so much. I probably need to practice some more. [clarke please. more like she needs to actually put more effort into it. for the most part her own wariness of it being what's holding her back]

Practice makes perfect. Or close enough to it if that's all you want.
