[It's disgustingly hot and humid and even with most of her hair pulled up and twisted back away from her face, she's got curly tendrils hanging down and a light sheen on her forehead. Ugh. But at least she's back to finding things to keep herself busy.]

My chair is open at Ursula's again, if anyone is looking for regular tattoos or some runework. Want anything more intricate let's talk and we'll see what I need and what deal works for you.

[Best way to act like nothing is wrong is to go right back to what she was doing before, right? Right.]

Catching up on the insane shit y'all love to get up to, but what little changes, a lot stays the same, doesn't it? Like how I still don't know who most of you asses are. Keeping track of the coming and goings ain't easy. Anyone keeping a list?

[Ow, Luz, that is kind of loud. Right in the ear huh.]

Guess you could say that. Squid life wasn't doing it for me.

[Sorry, sorry! She was just so excited]!

I'm so glad you're back! I thought you'd gone for good!

Can I come by and see you? I want to catch you up on things!

[There's a pang in her chest. Luz is just too good for her own good. She chuckles at her.]

Sure, Luzi. Still hanging around Willful Machine.

Right! I'll be there in a few!

[Luz clicked off her Omni and took thirteen minutes, but by then there was a knock of her door, and there was an eager sixteen year old grinning from ear to ear].

Hey! Good to see you again!

[She opens the door to her carriage house, hair still pulled back, wearing a dusty tank top and her left arm absent.]

Damn, you were fast. Come on in, haha.

[She steps inside to let her in and Luz should be able to smell the scent of citrus as Saeri had been using an orange-based concoction she'd mixed to clean.]

Ignore the dust, you wouldn't think a place would have this much after only a few months.

I've wondered the same about a list for a long time..., I sort of keep to myself, but it's so hard trying to keep track!

I just needed a reason to get out of the house!

[She spent the last month there Saeri, she was definitely keen on getting out now]!

Ooh, smells really orangey here! I'd believe it though. You'd be surprised how decrepit a place can get in a short amount of time. It's pretty bad.

[She huffs a little in half-amusement.]

Too many show up and leave everything month to know everyone. It's like trying to know every student in a school of 2000. Who has time for that?

That seems like such an incomprehensible number, but I'm sure my high school probably had that many... Not in just one class, at least.

True. But doesn't make it any less of a bitch to clean. Trying to get it finished up before I head back to work.

[She moves around, a spray bottle in one hand and a cleaning sock on her other arm that was already covered in dirt and residue.]

So what have you been up to?

Boarding schools be like that. Turning themselves into mini-towns of their own. [She gives a bit of a shrug.]

[Luz is already rolling up her sleeves to lend a hand].

Oh, you know. Devastating news here, a little corruption. Got killed for the first time, that was...ugh. Oh, and the month after, I got a new job.

With a girlfriend.

That does make Chizuru pause for a moment, as polite as she is, but she manages to shake it off. Her curiosity is too strong to not at least try to ask something else that grabbed her interest, regardless of that part. ]

Um. Please forgive me if this is a dumb question. [ After all, Chizuru isn't too sure what's common knowledge to people and what isn't, especially when her own world seems to differ so much from most others.. ] But what exactly is 'runework'..?

[Saeri stops and turns to stare. Her left arm would be propped on her hip if she hand a hand to put there.]

I don't know what you just tried to slip by, the dying part or the girlfriend part. Details.

Nah, that's not a dumb question. Most people around here have never heard of it. [She doesn't recognize her from before, so she assumes she's newer or they never ran into each other.]

Runework is magic using written language and symbols instead of verbal spells or potions. I also provide rune tattoos if people want them instead.

Well the dying part was just unpleasant and I'm still kind of mad at myself about how it happened. The truth of that is I shouldn't have been there. Even if I did think there were enough people, I should have let that one go. That was my own fault.

So I sorta decided to "ground" myself, really give myself a chance to stay home and concentrate on small house things, maybe do some magic. One day this girl messages me on the network, around when Varian and Fern left. I was feeling down and...we just talked and kept talking and making jokes and nerding out! I couldn't believe how easy it felt to talk to her, and how funny she was and how pretty she was. She's running the used book store "Satellite of Love." Now me, I love books, so I wonder if I could help her unpack and stuff. Turns out Lysithea is. Gone. Which stinks, but also freed up my schedule, so. I work at the bookstore now.

And then we talked more and more after and...we admitted we liked each other. A LOT. So that's where I am now. Happy and curious and scared out of my MIND.

[That is a lot of rambling, but Saeri expected no less from Luz. At least she gets a good amount of detail--except for how she died, and she definitely notices that--about how she was doing. She sets the bottle down and ruffles Luz's hair.]

You've had a busy three months. But I guess it turns out well for you, huh.

[There's a pang of...guilt? Yeah, she's pretty familiar with guilt now. Of knowing shit happened and she wasn't there for her. That Luz maybe had to go through all of that alone.]

She better be good to you. But I think you're a good judge of character.

[Except maybe when it came to seeing more good in people than there really was.]

[The dying part was not something Luz thought of fondly, and she'd already had a few people give her lectures on doing something that would put her in that much danger. Dying was NOT something Luz wanted to think about again, nor was being a squid and then not one again. Just...ick].

Somehow, yeah! Who knew? It felt really rough the last few months too, but I'm finally getting back on my feet. I'm just glad I'm ready to go back out in Trench again.

[She couldn't help but smile].

Lexi is great to me. She's...she's perfect, even. She's very pretty, smart as heck, nerds out all the time, is compassionate, sweet and determined. She's hard not to like!

No one's perfect, Luz. I'm sure she's great, but let's not build any shrines.

[Because she would hate for Luz to build this girl up to being something she's not and get hurt when it all falls apart. Not that Saeri has much experience in getting to the dating part so much as the falling apart part.]

For all you know she could eat anchovies and pineapple on her pizza.

That's an expression! I know she'd not perfect: no one is, and it sounds like her life with other people was actually pretty hard at times. But in my eyes, she's perfect to ME.

[Luz knew no one could be perfect and was also just as aware she was in the glow period of her relationship. And she didn't care! She was pretty happy]!

Pineapple is great on pizza, and anchovies...are a very salty fish and I don't care for them.

Pineapple is amazing on pizza. Pineapple and anchovies is an abomination I wish I didn't know about.

[She grabs a dusting rag off the coffee table and tosses it toward Luz. Then she picks the bottle up and pours a little more of the citrus oil onto the dusting sock before heading back to finish where she had been oiling and polishing the ladder to the second floor. If Luz is offering to help, Saeri won't stop her.]

Anything else crazy happen I should know about? I have been going through some of the posts and shit available, but it's a lot. Social media at its finest.

Oh, I really didn't know there were so many different kinds of magic..

[ She sounds very genuine about that. Heck, Chizuru didn't even know magic existed whatsoever until she arrived in this place. So all of this is basically just new information to her. ]

Is it more powerful when you use magic that way? Or.. is it just a different way of doing the same thing..? [ Hey, Sarona is indulging her so far, so Chizuru figures - or hopes, maybe - that the other won't find these odd questions either. ]

Ugh, what?! Super salty and sweet?! No! Just...what?

[Luz takes the rag and is already noting where Saeri hadn't started yet and gets to work. This was actually strangely relaxing, working at a task while talking. It gave Luz some focus].

I'm probably not the best to ask. Took a month to stay in, like I said. Something new happens every month, so I might be a little behind! We did lose some people though. Varian and Fern, if you knew them. I was living with them in the house, and they went back to the sea.

[Luz was still trying to cope with that, because it was still a lot and not having the boys around was an ache that didn't go away].

I think I'll count myself lucky I didn't have to live at school. [She looks just slightly disquieted by the notion, but it's slight.]

[And then she perks up and almost drops her device, squawking faintly as the feed shakes horribly.] Oh, my God. I'm sorry! It's nice to meet you, Saeri-- I'm Sumire!
