[Kazuma is obviously in the Archives. The looming shelves, claustrophobic framing, and dim lighting is more than enough to give that away. There are open tomes around him, but he isn't reading any of them; instead, he's considering the camera with a quizzical look, chin in his hand as he leans on the table he's at.]

Before the patrons of this place decide to plague us with more of the same, I have a mundane question for all of you.

We have many places we can choose to make our homes here. I am currently in Crenshaw, previously in Willful Machine...I moved with someone I know well. The point being, there are reasons we choose these places, correct?

What drew you to yours? What merits does it have to have others consider it? Is it because of people you know, or something else?

[He sighs and drums his fingers on the tabletop.] I just never really gave my own lodging much thought...I am wondering if most of us settle where it is convenient, or if we find other reasons to gravitate to where we end up.

That's true. I was thinking more monsters. Or rats, or something like that.

I've never learned. I did a tiny bit of martial arts in gym class, but I wasn't very good at it. I also am not that physically strong.

Monster-rats, perhaps? [He chuckles.] I'm sure there are some places where monsters are more of a concern than others.

...Physical strength isn't all that's needed to be able to defend one's self or to fight in general. Practice can sometimes help develop that strength as well. If you ever wished to learn, I could show you some of what I know.

I can be pretty fast, when I want to be. It surprises some people. But I'm a sprinter, not a marathon runner.

... I do want to know how to fight back, though. This is an even less kind world than where I left.

Then something more defensive, something you can rely on if you're caught.

...I trained in hand-to-hand, as well as the use of a sword. It's not necessary to be too strong, and speed can be an asset with both.

I don't know if I've got the muscles to swing a sword, but at least knowing how to get out of being grabbed would be useful...

Some swords can be rather light if you would like to try them first. If you can't, then I can at least teach you how to get out of a hold.

I'd... appreciate that. Whenever you have time, I can probably make time. I work, but it's not a very strict schedule.

Ah, yes. It's probably easiest to use the lamp in that case.

Got it. I'm not too far from a lamp where I am now, so it shouldn't be an issue.
