[it's black. a single inverted conical light hangs overhead, casting a yellowing glow down onto the wooden table below. maybe a few stains of liquid here and there on the surface, maybe that's wood pattern, who knows. a man's sitting in the darkness at the table, gnarled purple burn scars attached to the healthy flesh of his hands via surgical staples just around the base of his palm and past his wrists. the same burns travel all the way up his arms and vanish beneath metallic cuffs above his elbows, clasped to his dark coat. similar burn scars cover his entire throat and the lower half of his face, as well as his lower eyelids, all stapled to his flesh the same way, which gives him a skeletal rictus grin of sorts. it even spreads down to his upper chest, before his white shirt hides it from view.
dabi really doesn't make a lot of posts or responses on the network, but sometimes, hey, you gotta reach out and ask a question or two. he leans forward, spiky black hair brushing just under the light above, probably giving indication he's in some booth somewhere, but no other clues beyond that.]
Ain't much for this kinda thing, but anyone out there got a computer? Somethin from a "modern" time that'd take a USB cable. Maybe with some good media editing software. These Omni things can download and store media from the network, but hell if I can find a port on this rock.
[the image shifts a few times as he gives the omni a few turns around, as if doing one last double check for proof. then settles it again. dabi sets a small button camera used for covert recording operations down on the table.]
Or if ya know how to jack somethin from home into the Omni, lemme know. I got a few things I wanna upload to the network.
[the camera itself isn't capable of connecting to any kind of network, so transfers of the media recorded has to be manual.]
Might be fun to watch 'em later.

[you started the shittalk. you're gonna take the shittalk.]
it does. but unless they start pushin the original hunters or makin their ideals obnoxious, it might be a slow burn. we'd need more instances like the green kid.
what, are you his fuckin confidant or somethin?
no subject
[You're not his mom, he can do whatever he wants.]
So make more. There's more than one beast out there. If I had to choke back the bile, I would to be able to say you've done that before successfully. Do it again. Find a moron to put in dangers way and if they get killed? Then maybe they should've killed the monster first. If they don't? Should've killed it to stop it from maybe killing them.
You're not the only one with side hustles going on, Dabi.
no subject
[heaven forbid he ever give you an order then.]
that's the idea. dunno if i'm gonna have to set it up or if it'll happen on its own naturally. i'm gonna work with the hunters more closely and see where they stand. ain't gonna waste my time on something without much promise. but drivin in that point? yeah. wanna make them think on whether it's really worth it to go this far.
whatcha want with that kid?
no subject
[Dabi can try to give him an order, but if Shigaraki doesn't want to do it. God help him, the stubborn will come out.]
I'll keep my hands out, but it looks like fun and I like the possible outcome. Let me know if your slow burn is too low fuel. I'll help, like the good Samaritan I am. What happens after? You just enjoy the fallout or is it to some end?
Nothing, I'm testing which link in the chain wants to give way first. You have your hunter project, I have mine. I'll leave Midoriya out of it if you take the unspoken embargo off finding out what sort of link your brother is.
no subject
[his only order to shigaraki has been "urusei" when he's irritable. well, does "no, not doin that" count as an order?]
ya welcome to join in. i'm only noticin the embers. sure ya ain't agreeable to people callin ya out for offin those monsters. ya never were one for... what's that phrase ya use... goody two shoes? if ya ever huntin a beast with other people, bring it up and see what happens.
you're an idiot if ya think that brat's gonna be the weakest link. unless ya wanna get shown up again. go for the girl. outta the four, she'll crack first.
why the hell do ya think i got anythin special on the green kid?
no subject
Look at Dabi, using phrases all on his own.]
I don't give a shit what people want to say to me. I've already told you I do what I want. If it's kill it, let them try to stop me. If it helps your pet project, it'll just be dual purpose.
She won't, I've tried before, but they're all gullible in their own way. I think that sounds like a direct challenge, though. They've all got a sweet spot, maybe trying to find it is fun enough to try.
It's just more exciting to see him suffer and you're the one with the cards this time. I don't like him so it suits me to see where things fall and help where I can.
[Simple and childish as that.]
no subject
i'll take it. can't push back too much without evidence. keep an ear out when ya huntin with others. if ya hear somethin useful, lemme know. could use some good solid quotes from people to back this shit up.
oh? is that so...
ya know two easy weaknesses: each other and unheroic choices. threaten the others and the remainder will jump in front like an idiot. make them choose between two evils and it'll wreck them if they have to choose.
i'll keep that in mind. ain't got as much issue with him as i do that blonde bastard. he tried to kill me. it's only fitting i return the favor. with a lot more success than him.
no subject
If I get to see the aftermath, I'll pitch in. If the travelling circus comes my way, ill watch the dancing bears.
This isn't my first time seeing where the chips in the porcelain are. Two worlds over and she didn't crack. It was always someone else.
That one isn't fun, that one is obvious.
Do what you want, if he hands you your charred ass again, try to stay awake long enough to call me. I'll be neighbourly enough not yo leave you laying on the street.
no subject
sometimes i think ya on drugs when ya talk.
two worlds over? what, you've been in two other worlds with that bitch? ... sounds like ya almost respect her.
funny. only way i'm goin down to that bastard is if i take him with me. so ya might end up collectin me on the beach instead.
no subject
saduseless. Fight the good fight, Dabi.]Sometimes I feel like I have to be on drugs to talk to you.
Two other worlds where she was. I'm telling you what I learned by trying, say what you want.
Or you could just beat him instead of immolating yourself to prove a point. But. Wherever. Just let me know so I can get there when I get there. Then you won't have crows picking at you.
no subject
pretty sure they got some where. give it a try?
what the hell? how many fucking worlds are you guys hoppin around together?
i ain't goin into that fight with the *intention* of dyin. but i'm willin to go that far to end that bastard. big difference, boss.
roast crow is good.
no subject
Why would I bother with drugs? I'm not in enough of a fevered dream?
Two. That's (2). It's not me who chooses where to go, idiot. She was there by chance. Just like we're here by chance.
Dead doesn't suit you anyway and I'd rather not go all the way down to the beaches so maybe do me the favour and don't die. It doesn't seem like killing him is worth it if you'll both come back, but I'd be a hypocrite saying it.
Tell me you haven't been roasting carrion birds.
no subject
cause ya look like ya could use a hit or two.
but it was the same "her" that's here. not some other "her" from some other time or version or whatever the hell changes per jump.
aww, sounds like ya really tryin to give a shit about me. kinda cute, boss. but nah. killin him just to have him comes back means i get to kill him again if i feel like it.
done it in the past. roasted a few here. pretty good. beats fish.
no subject
It's not a fetish it's a lifestyle.]Drugs and Decay would be a great mix. Good idea.
It isn't the same person. None of them are. I'm telling you that she isn't the weakest link because I've tried that angle in multiple worlds. If it hasn't worked there, why would it work here?
Yes, that's it. Exactly. I care. You caught me.
You want to spawn camp him at the beach. Great. Fine. I'll bring a chair and wait. I think you're going to be bored after time one.
Roast fish is much better than eating carrion birds.
no subject
ya already mixin stuff with decay.
think ya should treat 'em all like "new" opponents then and not apply what you learned of "one version" to this one. she ain't the same, right?
i can hear the sarcasm.
nah. i ain't interested in tryin again so quickly. got other shit to do. just nice to know that's an option here. multiple deaths. kinda wonder why people aren't more reckless if they'll just come back...
you like fish.
no subject
I'm aware everyone is different. [Dabi included.] That goes for your brother who I think might be the best mark. Maybe he'll budge, how would we know? I can work on her angle if others go nowhere if I get bored enough to try. Right now I can keep track of them pretty well with Search.
Good. Coming out there to collect you, or going to get your heavily damaged body is something I feel like doing. Not doing out of feeling.
[Which is a direct lie. If Dabi were to die, Shigaraki wouldn't exactly be thrilled and knowing he came back would take that weight off his shoulders. What weight? He's not sure how to place it.]
Maybe we ask people who've died, we can find out that way if there's anything different about them. There's no way we're getting sent back to the lobby every time without paying a price in SR.
I would eat fish over carrion bird. Why? Drug aficionado, shady salesman and a chef now?
no subject
i'm drug affectionate, yeah?
good luck. i'd say not to kill him, but since he'll just come back, it ain't a problem. lemme know if ya do though. and why. [for personal reasons he's not getting into.] do whatcha want.
were ya waitin to make that feelin/doin pun for a while?
[god, you can be such a child sometimes, tomura. but yeah, the lack of permanent death here does make things a little more reality checked as far as attacking and results go.]
good idea. someone's probably asked that on the network before, but i can look that up.
i'm a man of many talents. i could even pour ya a drink.
[if popping and beer and dumping it in a plastic cup equals kurogiri-level service...]
no subject
Alright, I'll bite. What does 'Drug affectionate' mean? You just like drugs or you want to whisper in its ear?
Thanks for giving me permission to do what I want. I needed it.
Yes. I sit up nights making up jokes I think you're going to like.
Let me know if you do.
You might get that chance if only because I'm curious.
no subject
i like drugs and hell if i can say i've never whispered into its ear under the influence.
sounded like ya were holdin back on account of me.
[this conversation or previous ones had seemed to imply tomura considered shouto as something dabi had "dibs" on regarding damaging or kiling. or dabi's imagining things. wouldn't be the first time.]
how thoughtful of ya.
you know how to find me, so maybe i'll perform.
no subject
I'd rather be clear headed. You don't like that feeling?
Even if I did or didn't, now I have no restraints.
[He had felt like Dabi called dibs and Shoto wasn't an okay thing, but now he has no worries.]
I'm a thoughtful person, Dabi.
Good. I'm bored so I'll see you in a few days. You can show me your trained tricks then.
no subject
sometimes it's nice to say "fuck you" to everything. clarity all the time can make ya go fuckin insane.
thanks for the heads up; i'll stay off the roads.
[dabi mostly just wants to know the where and why, for little reason other than IF he feels like going to fetch his brother from the sea, he'll have the heads up.]
news to me. thought you were just some obsessive compulsive trundling his way through life.
bored, but not enough for immediate entertainment. i see.
no subject
Speaking of who knows. ...Fuck you to everything, huh? Mind you the insane part makes for a little bit of amusement. Dabi is oh so sane. However... It's a minute or two before he's typing again, not that Dabi is likely staring at his phone with baited breath. Telling him about Shoto is a given but, colour him intrigued at least.]
Alright mister broker, dealer, pornstar and shitty standup comedian. Are you going to be on time or do I have to stand around waiting for a loser that doesn't have a watch but owns fifty of them?
no subject
nah, he's not staring at his phone. right now he's munching on a slim jim and occasionally glancing at the stove, wondering if he should make something to eat... or just pour water in an oatmeal package like the master chef he is.]
oy, oy. i can't do anythin about the traffic. maybe ya just got luckier with ya pedestrian ambling than i did.
[in other words: nye-]
no subject
That's the spirit, Shigaraki prefers cocoa on the end of his finger, himself. There's something they have in common. Packaging can also be cook wear.]
The traffic.
Like you drove there. You walked, the only traffic you'd have to worry about is foot traffic and I've seen you part crowds.
no subject
at least he's got a bunch of interesting food supplies, though dabi usually uses them as infrequent snacks rather than a diet staple. he learned how to get food other than fish in the market, so that works out for him.]
wow. didja really have to explain the sarcasm back to me?
