[ It's late evening when Orpheus's video goes up, finding him standing outside a what looks like a small shop in Willful Machine, though the sign is only partially in frame. True to form, he also seems to be having some trouble getting the camera pointed fully at his face, also only partially in frame. ]

Hi, everyone? [ he says, waving, the camera swaying slightly as he shuffles out of the way of someone trying to get by him on the sidewalk. ] I'm Orpheus, and I, um. I found this artisan who says they can make blood into jewelry? And they seemed pretty interested in mine.

[ He frowns a little, turning his back to the shop and lowering his voice slightly. ]

I'm just not sure if it's a good idea? Giving my blood to someone else, when it seems to have so much power here? But I wanted to surprise my wife with a real wedding ring, since I couldn't afford one when we got married.

[ Something seems to occur to him, and he pauses, thinking. ]

Would it be better to try to find something else, though? I thought maybe if it were made from a part of me it would be more personal, but now that I say that, it sounds kind of off? The people here don't seem to mind it, but...

[ He trails off, glancing back over his shoulder at the shop behind him. ]

[ As a matter of fact Orpheus has met her, but only on the network where she didn't happen to introduce herself, so he fails to make the connection. ]

I guess so. And now that I think about it, some of the powers some people got seem kind of, um... mean-spirited.

[ He's thinking, specifically, about Eurydice's newfound ice powers. Which are still useful, he guesses, but if there's some kind of being responsible for them then he'd sure like to have a conversation with them about it. ]

I don't know. Maybe it's all just too complicated to figure out right away. We haven't really been here that long. Maybe things'll become clearer as we have more time to learn.

[ He's got a point. But then again, Ange really doesn't like it when things aren't clear. It's in her nature to try and solve mysteries, so thinking that she will probably just have to live with the fact that they don't know what's going on - yet - makes her let out a sigh. ]

What a pain. I know you're right, but.. I just really wish that there was someone to explain things to us for once. It sucks that it feels like we keep being thrown into the deep end of a pool without being taught how to swim.

It's frustrating, feeling like we don't know anything about this world. [ Orpheus agrees, glancing off to the side and frowning. ] But I was thinking about finding a library and trying to see what's there to be found, at some point? It sounds like people have been living here for a really long time - not like in the dream, which I guess only lasted a few years? And we had to figure almost everything out ourselves as we went.

[ Which, they seemed to manage an okay job of doing, but at least here they don't have to keep reinventing the wheel. ]

I'm not the best at doing research, but maybe you'd like to come with me? It's okay if not, but.

.. no, I'll come with you.

[ Because even though Ange does allow herself to whine about how dumb the situation is, she feels like she ought to at least make some attempt to make the situation better herself in order to earn that right to whine about it.

And it's not like going to a library is a momentous task. ]

I'm used to looking up stuff in libraries, so that might help us if we go there together. We could pile up some stuff that looks like it'd be worth our time and go through it.

That sounds like fun, [ says Orpheus, and he does mean it. He likes Ange, and spending time around her, so trying to puzzle out a mystery together seems like a good way to pass some time. ] You'll probably be better at it than I will, but I'll try not to slow you down. There's couple of libraries around the city that I've passed by? We can pick one and meet up there whenever works for you.

[ She didn't quite expect to hear that it sounds like fun. Ange feels like the idea might be a little boring, or dry - even for someone like Ange, who tries to figure out mysteries for a living.

But he seems so genuine about it. It catches her off guard, though not in a bad way. It's just always surprising to sheer Orpheus' sheer optimism and joy. It makes her pause for the slightest moment before she manages to speak up again. ]

Do you know about the one that's connected to the school? Let's try that one. I've mostly been there so far, and they do seem to have a pretty big collection of books.

[ Orpheus nods, not quite catching the reason for her pause but not questioning it either. ]

I think so? That's a good idea - a school's probably the best place for, um, finding explanations of things that would be obvious, to people who have lived here their whole lives.

[ With varying levels of depth and examination, even. ]
