(VIDEO) — UN: BOMBSHELL

(the video begins of a zoom up of a pair of eyes. an animal to be exact. they blink curiously before it gets pulled back -- revealing it's a spider monkey holding the omni. he holds it up above him and even turns it upside-down and other various angles. hopefully the lovely people aren't easily to become motion sickness upon viewing this but if they do, their own fault really.)

Got it workin'?

(there's a voice coming from off camera; familiar to some or not. but the monkey looks off to the direction of the voice before turning the omni over so whoever is watching can now see jinx sitting in a chair -- slouching with her arm hanging over the top railing. there's a grin that slowly grows on her face, however, it's not... exactly a friendly kind. impish? troubling? dangerous? you'd be the judge. nevertheless, jinx hunches over now with both her arms drape over her knees -- looking directly at the omni.)

So! — Greetings people of.... whatever this place is. Kiiiinda forgot the name but not really important. I've been hearin' a lotta here and there that I've been here before. Don't really remember it, though. (a brief pause as she thinks.) Except the last time. I remember the last time but not the other times.

Buuuuuuuuut ♪! Since I've been here a whoooole BUNCH of times that means I gotta have some friends here, right?

(she bites her bottom lip to hold back a giggle as the video suddenly wavers around. but quickly it straightens up and focus with a closer look of jinx (it seems she's the one holding it now) in a bird's eye view. her spider monkey climbs on her body then curling himself along her shoulder and neck while also looking up at the feed along with her.)

So if ya know me, contact me. OH! And you got like, thirty minutes to convince me why my former self even bothered wasting my breath on you. Don't keep me waitin' too long 'cuz I get bored easily.

(a beat.)

ACTUALLY, NEVERMIND!!! — Decided to change it to twenty minutes. (her spider monkey seems to be screeching in laughter at jinx's sudden time change but resumes on nuzzling it's head against her cheek.)

OH OH! One more big thing. There's someone here by the name of Vi. If you know her, contact me too. So we can aaaaalll be friends and get along. No shame in that, right?

(she says this but there's something about that smile that really makes it... off putting. regardless though, jinx hums quietly as she cocks her head to the side.)

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

[Maul thinks on what she says for a moment. Once again, he finds he and this girl have a lot in common. She might someone he can get along with in this city, something which isn't always guaranteed when he first meets people. After a pause, he asks:]

Is that 'someone' you refer to yourself or others in your life?

(her pinks move to him on the video call and for a split second, she is silent. but very quickly switches back up to the peppy energy from way before and then a giggle:)

Eh heh heh! Take a wiiiiiiiiiiild guess, Horns! If I gave ya the answer, where's the fun in that?

[Maul for once in his life decides to have a bit of tact and not push Jinx. This is clearly a sore spot for her given the flippancy she's retreated into.]

Now, now, I wouldn't dream of guessing at the facts of your life just yet, extraordinary though I can guess they may be, given we've only just met.

[He says silkily. Then he turns more serious. She seems to be responding well to using himself as an example.]

But I know what it's like to have everyone you've ever cared about die. Knowing it's your fault they're dead, that if they'd just never met you and been in your life that they'd still be alive. To feel plagued by guilt when your family dies only because they were associated with you and to be forced to kill people you love because you feel there is no other way. It's a terribly horrible, lonely way to go through life.

[opheliac]

(mood are swinging with this one. she is trying to keep that perky, "i'm fine, nothing bothers me", "i don't really care so throwing up my middle finger in the air" attitude but is flat lining. jinx still doesn't make a look towards him at all but instead peers down at her nails -- picking the dirt underneath them.)

I'm fine with it. Being on my own is all I could ever wanted. I can do what I want, when I want, how I want. No one gets to tell me what to do.

(and yes, that is the perk of being alone that she enjoys. jinx thrives on the fact she can do whatever the hell she wants and can get away with it. but as he said, on the opposite side of that, it... does get lonely. how she wishes to have someone to talk to. and she does here in trench, this whole feed she put up has gotten her speaking with so many different people.

but jinx also has severe trust issues. speaking to everyone is fine but for them to get to know her? the true jinx? she'll push them away in an instant. jinx is trying to give her sister a chance and she wants them to be close again. but... she is also frighten and can't help but to shove her away.)

[Maul watches her, reading her body language more than listening to the actual words she's saying. His next words come quiet and soft.]

I felt much the same way when I was your age.

[But he'll leave it at that. If someone had told him at age eighteen all that he's said now, he either wouldn't have believed them or broken their neck for trying to get him to a different mindset. Back then, his loyalty to Sidious was absolute. He'd committed murder and far worse for his adoptive father, desperate to earn love that his master wasn't capable of giving him.

He's already told Jinx enough about the path his own life has taken. It's just food for thought right now, planting a kernel inside that still-growing mind. She's young and it took Maul nearly three decades to get to where he is now, permanently damaged from being raised by Sidious and still a psychopath, but finally able to function on a level where he can accept the love of family and friends.]

[opheliac]

(it's time for a subject change. besides, this is all public so - she can't appear as weak for too long.)

SO! — You gotta that new blood stuff too, right? What are you?

Yes. I'm a Vileblood.

[Which was definitely the most fitting one Maul could have possibly ended up with.]

My blood powers allow me to remove corruption from people.

How fun for you. (sarcasm...??? or perhaps not. it's just a weird and dull tone of voice she used there.) — My sis is that. The Vileblood thing. I'm a Coldblood. All of my powers are gear towards how I feel.

(and when she means all, she means all. because addition to coldblood, she has shimmer blood too. and surprise, surprise that is also triggered by her emotions. to jinx, it's a real damning thing. with all of these powers linking to how she feels, it's going to be very difficult for her to keep a poker face and just shield how she feels. it's funny how she tends to seek for tells on other people if whether they are being loyal or not, and now here she is being a human walking tics and tells.

this can be really issue when/if she goes into battle with an opponent. jinx will need to do something about this dilemma.)

I have a.....[He pauses, still not sure how to define Obi-Wan any longer. One part friend, one part enemy, and no clear title that Maul can assign him. Finally, he goes with a vague turn of phrase.] ....someone I have known for a very long time who is a Coldblood and does the same thing. [Maul snickers.] I can always tell when I've pissed him off because he starts looking a bit crystal-like in appearance.

[He zooms in on another thing that Jinx says.]

Oh? You have family here?

Yeah, a big sister. You can't really miss her. Just follow the sounds of people groanin' in pain 'cuz they've been sucker punched.

(a beat.)

Aaaaaand if you're not hearin' that, she's also a walkin' wall of art. Crazy tats and stuff. They're pretty cool lookin', though. Kinda makes you wanna tell her to stand still so you can see all of 'em. I haven't seen all of it myself. Maybe I'll get her to stop moving so much so I can.

[Maul chuckles for a moment quietly in amusement.]

That sounds like my little brother Savage. He'll punch you in the shoulder as a greeting if he's actually fond of you.

[And since Savage was seven feet tall and built like a moose, he could practically knock someone over doing that.]

I shall look for her then, for I can always appreciate good tattoos. All of this-- [He taps the black sections of his face.] --are tattoos. The culture I come from tattoo all their children.

Now THAT'S a hardcore culture. But hey, that's one way to toughen up a kid.

It's the way of the Nightkin. If you know how to read the tattoos right, they can tell you a lot of information about the person you are looking at.

[Hence why Maul and his brother have very different tattoo patterns.]

Dathomir is a dangerous planet. Those who are not smart or strong tend to perish in short order.

Ooo! — Very adventurous. Zaun's a lil' like that, too. If you're not street smart or know how to hold your own, you'll get gobbled up by the big guys. Our people use to work together but we got tired of playin' nice.

I gather you are one of those smart and tough enough to survive anything that is thrown at you.

[Jinx doesn't strike him as someone who would go down without a fight.]

I had good teachers.

(teacher as in plural. while vi and silco are not in good terms (that's putting it lightly), the two of them taught her a lot of things. one is no better than the other in her eyes.)

Well, most of them weren't good by most definitions of the word but they were highly effective.
