Why hello there! May I just have a little bit of your time?
[Snow is, as always, surrounded by her animal friends and companions. She gently straightens her hair bow a bit and then puts her hands back in her lap.]
I was just wondering if I might have some help from people who are much more further in the timeline than I am... that is, people who are past the 1500s.
Is it alright for women to request courtship first in your time period by any chance?
[Why yes, Snow would very much like TO JUST DO THAT, she's just not sure if that's even a thing yet, or if it'd be as much a shock nowadays as it currently is in her own time. Although, since they're both women, she's not sure how that would even work if they COULDN'T request it first.]
I'm afraid modern courtship is still utterly unknown to me, though from what I have seen and read, it does seem to have a lot of things called pick-me-up lines, oh! Do people still serenade one another or is that not really what's done anymore?
Still, thank you so much for any help you might be able to offer!

Aw, cute! Who's the lucky guy or gal? It's totally fine for a girl to approach first in my time period, and I don't think people care much who courts who first in Trench.
[ After all, life is too dangerous and potentially short to be shy about that, she figures. ]

But I'm so glad to know it's alright, I didn't wish to startle her or give her a fright.

Well, first off. Yeah, absolutely. I always initiate. Do whatever feels natural to you, honestly, just so long as you get your feelings across. You've got a pretty unique charm, you'll have 'em swooning in no time.
But more importantly... you've got your eye on someone, huh?
[Faith absolutely wiggles her eyebrows.]
Video; UN: Filledwithsunshine
At Faith's question, she giggles and presses both hands to her blushing cheeks.]
Oh Faith, she's simply lovely, I hope she says yes.

The pick-me-up lines are great and funny and cool and all, but I gotta say: getting serenaded? That sounds better than a pickup line. You're basically singing the pickup line, so what could go wrong, unless you can't sing?
Even then? Go for it, that sounds cute as hell.

Yeah, it is, and it shows that you're confident. Pick-up lines usually sound stupid, so I wouldn't bother with those. Just be direct and ask your special someone out.
Video; UN: Filledwithsunshine
Oh, are they? Then why are there so many of them? I was very sure I saw books filled with them when speaking about courting. But yes, that's the point of asking for courtship, to remove any confusion about our relationship.
I do hope she says yes!

I hail from well past the 1500s: the year 2009, to be precise. I may not be the most... well-versed at romance, however, I know a fair bit about human behavior and customs. [A hint of "more than I care to know..."]
It's not widely common in my time of origin for women to pursue courtship, but they are more likely to pursue a romantic companion than their counterparts in the past.
Pick up lines aren't fully advisable, unless they're well-executed. All too often they either fall flat or smack of trying too hard to court someone's attentions.
Unfortunately, serenades have fallen out of fashion, though I seem to remember a clip from a movie where a young man tried to serenade his sweet young lady by standing under her window with music blaring on a portable radio, which lead to young men mimicking the moment. [He probably knows this only because William and Annette dragged him along on a double date at the movies when Say Anything was playing.]
Video; UN: Filledwithsunshine
But my, how strange! If pick up lines are not advisable, why are there so many books of them?

Sounds like you got the answers I would've given. [ Go for it, get your girl, etc, etc, etc. He's definitely wearing a smile on his face from the energy of this post. ] Skip the pick-up-lines, tell them how you feel.
[ Though. ] You're not worried they're gonna see this?
Video; UN: Filledwithsunshine
I suspect she will, but as I have every intention of asking her for a courtship, I don't much mind if she sees it. It may even give her time to decide on her response!

Of course it is. It is up to each person to set their own boundaries and requirements, with whatever they are comfortable with. I think the scope of the relationship and what everyone expects is different, but you shouldn't be afraid to voice your desires.

But [and she swallows her own crush down] if you have feelings for someone you should feel free to say so.

Rose! Oh, I'm so glad you find it's acceptable.
I am absolutely going to tell the person how I feel. Would a bouquet or a serenade be better?

[ no one knows what they're doing, snow. no one. where's the romance? the flowers? katherine's a little older than snow, but even she likes a little of that old-school romance from time to time.
she smiles. ] Do you know any pick-up lines?
Video; UN: Filledwithsunshine
I did read a few books about them, but I don't know that I like any of them! Some have said not to bother with them, though I am curious as to why they exist, then.

'S not like I really know shit about it either. One day I just... found somebody. Some crazy crap happened, and then we're together.

But at least she does technically fit the criteria, instead being from the mid-19th century. So it counts. Even if Chizuru doesn't know what western year she's from. ]
Um.. You know, I'm actually kind of wondering now whether I'm ahead of you in time or not.. [ Chizuru hums as she tries to consider it. She hasn't asked much about Snow White's world, other than stuff about the other girl herself, so it's kind of hard to imagine just where in time Snow White is from.. What are the 1500s, Chizuru sure doesn't know. ] I mean, I've never heard of those 'pick-me-up lines' either.
Voice;
They seem to be jokes, which makes much more sense now, especially with names like pick-me-up-lines! They're to pick you up and make you feel better!

The man I married was raised in one of the most traditional families in our village, but my family is the opposite. I made it clear from a young age I had a crush on him. I'm almost embarrassed by how much I threw myself at him. But he sort of needed me too. I got a bit frustrated by his reserved and "proper" approach to love and marriage, but if I hadn't been making it clear I wanted him, he might never have made a move.
[ She laughs. ]
Anyway, traditions are meant to be broken. Sometimes you have to be the one to break those traditions. I'll tell you what I told my dear friend who also comes from an old traditional family, who is in love with an idiot who wouldn't know romance if it smacked him over the head, you have to let them know. Don't let anything hold you back because you don't know if you'll have the chance taken away from you. Women can do anything, so do that, do anything you want to do.
Video;
Well, I am most certainly breaking tradition in this case.
Thank you so much for the advice, and I hope your husband is much more inclined to woo you back. Romance should never stop at courting, I believe.
I've gotten so much support, it's so lovely, I never had anything like this back home, and I have no experience asking out another woman, but I'm going to try my very best!

Pick-up lines focus on sex. Serenades should be private, as a default. Know what you want and be clear.
Voice; UN: Filledwithsunshine
[Snow stops because the whole "pick up lines focus on sex" thing have thrown the OG Disney Princess into a bit of a panic. Her eyes widen and she blushes deeply pressing her hands to her cheeks. She'saware such things HAPPEN, she has plenty of animal friends, but she personally, has no such interest nor does she want to convey such a notion to Rose!]
I shall be avoiding pick up lines then.
