Good afternoon, Sleepers.
[ It's been a while since Ozpin was on the network! He stands now before the continuing construction site that is the Clockhouse, now in its final stretch of becoming livable. From behind him comes a crash and an I've got it! that sounds like it could be Ruby Rose. Ozpin winces through his smile but does not turn around.]
First, I would like to extend my welcome to those new to Trench... and my sincere thanks to those who have lent their assistance in repairing our home after its [ the smile goes strained again ] unfortunate destruction. It has been some time since I aided a project of this magnitude.
Which brings me to a proposition. As many of you know, my name is Professor Ozpin [ look at that, he's back to tacking 'Professor' on ] and I was headmaster of a renowned combat academy back upon the world of Remnant. I provide combat lessons to Sleepers when I'm able, and I led a team of talented young students in the [All-Trench Karate Tournament ] combat tournament of this May.
As of September, I have been away from my original world for two full years. In celebration, I suppose... and from a deep and abiding respect for the strength and spirit I have seen among our number, here in Trench... I would like to propose a more formal institution in which Sleepers can teach and learn the skills of battle.
I would like to establish a combat academy in Prufrock, the Hunter's district. I believe I have found a space that will be suitable, and which may be of use even to Hunters with less of an... academic inclination. A gathering space and stronghold for adventurers in times of crisis. Those among us who still recall the dreamed town of Deerington might [ his smile tightens ] liken it to FEAR, albeit with a far more academic bent.
[ james ironwood get fucked it took him eighteen months but he stole your idea ]
To make this concept a reality, I will need help. I must call upon those with an interest and ability in exploration and the vanquishing of Beasts to help clear the space of its deadly hazards. If you are willing to undertake a dangerous task-- to risk your life, mind, and soul-- then I, and perhaps all of Trench, will thank you.
I will provide instructions and coordinates to those who inquire within. Perhaps together, we can continue to build something of value to this new world.

Still... rebuilding in general around here is a good idea.

[ Ozpin just looks pleased to have someone who will listen to him talk, honestly. Keith has struck him as one of the... less chaotic among their younger combatants. ]

This is, as I've said, an area in which I hold some measure of expertise. [ very reassuring ] We are lucky in Trench to have the assistance of many capable healers and Blood Ministers. I expect we shall find help offered from among their number.
[ read: he has made no move, as yet, to do that. Maybe he'll get to it. ]

Go back to talking about Ozpin's new school thing.
I went to one of them on my world for a semester and a bit and look how I turned out!
It'll be great.

A group effort, in this instance. Once work has progressed on a base of operations, I do intend more... structured teambuilding challenges, shall we say.

It is, after all, an adventure... and something of a gamble.

I'd very much like to attend and help out.

Teenagers, man. ]
I'll help if you still need it. I'm [ a pause as he clearly has to think about phrasing for a long moment ] an okay fighter in the real world if you give me a gun.
[ "The real world" is a notable specification here. ]

We will certainly have need of further explorers. [ Ozpin looks directly at the red flag that this kid should not be fighting dungeon monsters and decides to ignore it wholesale. ] If you have need of a weapon, I can think of a few Sleepers more than willing to lend their assistance... and I am, of course, glad to provide the training to fight effectively.

[ He says it softly but sternly. With a thoughtful but very schooled expression. ]
Do you mean to kill those Beasts, or try to save them?
no subject
In truth, I do not know how commonly the Beasts of the forest can be saved. Those which I have faced have seemed well beyond our help.

Oh...I should be very glad to attend a school, but I'm not very interested in combat. Do you mean to say it would be academic, though? A proper school, and not only fighting?

Not having a formal classroom to work with was starting to leave Waver himself feeling untethered, but he was loath to navigate the politics of the Academy in Gaze. Sleeper led organizations were far more appealing.
He clicked on the feed, a reed of a man with an almost regal look and dark framed glasses resting his chin on his gloved hands, and regarded Ozpin with a look of curiosity. ]
If you're needing hands, I do have some experience teaching kids with impressive talents. More pertinently, though-- I've significant enough experience in the field to know what to do around ruins, and how to guide kids or newbies along without them getting hurt.

Hey man, no problem. Ruby and Ange're pretty good friends of mine and I got a lot of practice fixing up buildings. Eheh. [Awkward glance to the side and then a throat clearing.] Anyway, never heard of you [flippant, probably rude (unintentionally) especially since he was in that tournament too] but your "proposition" thing sounds like something I could be down for. I actually helped build F.E.A.R., y'know. It was a pretty cool place even if Ramona turned out to be totally batty… [squint] you've got all your screws in place, right?
[If ya wanna build and found FEAR 2, Lance considers that to be a big priority.]
whoops sorry i missed this notif!!
One can only hope. [ promising ] But I'm afraid the founding of F.E.A.R. was well before my time. I would be glad to hear your stories of the same, and see what guidance we can take from them. If any place now has need of an organized base against monsters and malicious forces, it would be Trench.

[ A combat academy here would certainly be helpful. He didn't know what this person's idea of such an academy would entail outside of what he mentioned in this posting, but it couldn't have been much different from what Maul was helping others with, right? ]
