[ It's night, late into the evening actually and her room is lit with candles, so there is a light glow illuminating her face. She looks happy, satisfied even, and it's not necessarily difficult to put together why, when Sasuke, who is at least partially covered by a blanket, can briefly been seen sleeping on their mat behind her as she adjusts to get more comfortable.
Sakura, who is dressed in a robe, is settled by the window next to her bed. Her cheeks are rosy and she's content, and maybe still a little bit tipsy from too much sake earlier, which would explain her comfort level. ]
Does anyone else ever watch the cycles of the moon? I've always watched it when I couldn't sleep. In a few days we'll have the new moon. Then I realized that the next full one marks the Rinne Matsuri, a celebration of rebirth from Sasuke-kun's and my home where we pray for loved ones that we've lost and celebrate those we still have in a grand winter festival. We decorate trees, give gifts, and have large gatherings with family and friends.
Sometimes I miss my friends and family from back home, but I have so many people that I cherish here, so I'm never sad for long. I think I want to throw a little Rinne festival here, with a celebration party at the clinic. There must be many of us who have lost loved ones to remember, those who have died of course, but also those who are simply not here with us. Oh and of course new friends and family to celebrate. I want a chance to celebrate all of you, those who I've been blessed to get to know, but also perhaps those I haven't yet had the chance to meet. So please mark your calendars to join Sasuke-kun and I at the Wellness Clinic on December 7th.
It also seems like this is a time of year when many people celebrate one holiday or another. Will you share with me the stories of your traditions back home?

Sakura.
Couldn't you have started the video after I wasn't in the frame?

That sounds terrible. We may have come close to a similar fate back home with our moon. What happened to cause yours to break?
no subject
It's I guess been like that before any sort of history recorded in my world. But two god's got awfully upset with someone one day and decided to leave. One of them body checked it on their way out and made it the way it is now.

Although it's a little earlier in the seasons, I think, on the world it originated called Kashyyyk. There's a just past the last harvest element, too.
no subject
We have some harvest festivals too, though as a shinobi they aren't my area of expertise.
no subject
I've...never actually seen what trees on Kashyyyk so I couldn't tell you much about it. Obi-wan could though, if you're really curious.
But now that the celebration is common across the galaxy, it can be any sort of tree you have around, or even just a piece of wood.

My home planet of Dathomir has four moons but it is rare to have all four of them appear in the sky at once, especially if one or more is close to being full. It happens maybe once every few decades if that. When it does, the land is flooded with light. That is a time for celebration among Nightkin. There are many hunts, magickal ceremonies, and sacrifices done during this time.

[ She gives pause. ] What sort of sacrifices?

Throughout the month of December we have various matsuri each with street markets, vendors, and food. Usually some sort of illumination ceremony caps the celebration at night.
My sister and I used to visit Aoi Ike [When it was affordable.] around this time of the year. The trees are lit with tiny white lights that reflect a vibrant blue hue off the surface of a large pond. The sight was always [ so magical and] breath taking.
[Imagine being inside a small snow globe with a beautiful winter wonderland scape. Capturing the stillness of winter while admiring the fortitude and spark of life in a normally cold barren woods.]

I think it sounds lovely though, especially the tiny white lights. You must miss celebrating it while being here.

I've never heard of a festival like that before since we don't really have much of that back home but it sounds nice though.

You should definitely find a way to join in, share in the traditions of others while your here. I imagine a lot of people will be celebrating things.
[ She puts a finger to her mouth in thought. ] Do you have any festivals back home?

since it is late sansa has removed her belt and much of her jewelry. she still wears a thick silvery wool dress over a grey flannel shift. her omen winter films her sitting at her vanity, somewhat more crowded with tchotkes recovered from westeros and gifts from her friends than makeup. the room behind her, briefly glimpsed, is somewhat gothic, with tapestries and paintings covering the walls between shelves of old books and framed photographs. the ornate bed has had some blue and grey roses sewn into the canopy.]
Oh, that sounds wonderful. We didn't have many yearly festivals where I lived, but my father would always tell us how the Winter Town came to life in the winter, and it was like a true city.
[her face clouds as she recalls what had been left of winterfell in never mind's memory books.]
I never got to see it. There's a harvest festival in autumn where we feast our bannermen; I missed that too.
[she was far from the only one, though.]

[ She comes from a place that has so many different traditions that it's hard to imagine not having any. ]
Well a harvest festival counts doesn't it? Have you ever been able to attend one where you come from? Either way you should definitely come celebrate with us.

Mmmm, someone's got a little insomnia do they? Yes. I watch the cycles, though I admit that I do so for very practical reasons in this world. The cycles mean a lot around here, do they not?
I'll be looking forward to the 7th, but in the meantime... hmmm, there were many traditions in my world, and many kingdoms. I didn't have any specific to myself after I left my people, though I have to say my encounters with the ones on Earth were intriguing at first.
[She chuckled]
I've been told I shouldn't talk about human holidays. I always get in trouble.
no subject
A little bit.
I guess your right about that. Things seem to happen every month or so around here. It's good to watch out for it.
Most people here seem to be from Earth, if I'm not mistaken.

And then on the full moon I like to go swimming in the Salt Lake. I think the celebration you mentioned on the next one would be a great idea. I'd definitely be interested.
no subject
Right now, it's probably too cold for swimming in the lake on the next moon, but my center does have a hot springs. Personally, I enjoy a quiet moonlit swim in the hot springs.

This winter festival sounds super fun! Do we need to bring anything or wear anything special? Or a specific color!
no subject
Oh nothing special at all, please just wear whatever makes you comfortable!

I'll mark my calendar, but I have to get a calendar first. You wouldn't happen to be 'Lady Sakura', would you?
no subject
I'm not used to being called by something so formal, but I think I might be the only Sakura here. Uchiha Sakura.
