I...realize that we all have our concerns right now, but I was--well, I was hoping for assistance?

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and I want to do something really special for Snow now that we're together. Something beyond the usual flowers and chocolates and cards, although she'll get all three from me.

But of course this depends on whatever we're being put through this month. I'd still like to find some way to make it special. [and her expression turns stern] And if The Doorway chooses to do something truly awful to us, I'll never forgive them!

Either way is bad. Irrational at best, destructive to themselves and everyone around them at worst.

It can. On the other side of the coin though I don't seem to have much control over my blood powers.

Often they don't care. The more money and more prestige someone has, they seem to care less and less.

No, they're not. I thought it was very brave. Especially since so many men of his class were fighting tooth and nail to survive at the cost of the lives of others.

No, that can be romantic, especially if you and the other are reading romantic novels. Nothing too crass, obviously, but something by maybe Jane Austen would be suitable.

It was definitely an unusual situation, but so is this place.

... I'm not familiar with that author. But there are many authors here I'm unfamiliar with.

Then I would definitely recommend giving Austen a try! Her characters are so vivid, so real--even the ones which were meant as parodies of the day. And her books provide a good blueprint for how a woman was expected to be wooed and won in her day.

I can give it a chance. I'm not much of a fiction reader, but if it's a recommendation from a friend, then I should at least try it.

Good! They're really wonderfully written. And I'd tell you to start with 'Pride and Prejudice,' but that's her masterwork. You need to work up to it.
'Emma' or 'Sense and Sensibility' are good starters.
