Hey, this is an update on the blood pollution project Viktor (un: v) started back in January. Thanks to everyone who donated blood and who's been helping out with that and the research. You can thank Snow White for the food.

The team's got a hold of a stonemaker who can make the darkblood stones do what they want (pull the pollution out of things and destroy it), but they need to work with them on a price for anything stronger than the samples they got. It turns out pulling pollution out of anything too fast ruins whatever it's coming out of, too.

The next move is to keep testing different stones for the best results on having them deal with pollution, and seeing what happens after the pollution's gone. Warmblood's been good for taking pollution out of the air. Vileblood needs more work. Still testing coldblood and paleblood.

If you want to speak to someone about the project in person or private, Viktor does better with voice right now, or there's Palamedes (un: warden). I can answer questions since Viktor's here anyway. Anyone who wants to get involved is welcome, asking for Viktor or Palamedes at the Sanctuary works. They test the stones with other powers and technology too.

That's very interesting about the warm bloodstone. I've always thought it must have uses we didn't know. Does it draw the polluted blood in the air towards itself?

I should appreciate it very much if my blood hound could have any blood pollution you've managed to isolate so far. I think he's disappointed the Moss King hasn't done any blood blisters this year. People have been saying he's not likely to do them two years in a row.

Also, my old jewelry teacher wants me to find a replacement apprentice before I leave her.

I don't know that she'll take on beginners, but I imagine Viktor has enough experience to study with her. And I do know jewelers who will take on beginners, if anyone else is interested. Anyone can learn to do it with a blood gem tool.

Viktor says they drew the power of the warmblood stone out in a radius and it got rid of it that way. so like neutralizing?

[sansa has to assume viktor means a sphere with the stone at the center rather than a flat circle, but she wishes he would just say that. she had to look up what a radius was the last time he threw it at her, and geometry is confusing when you've only been taught arithmetic. still, it's an exciting development.]

That's wonderful. Was the stone all right, after? Did he make it himself, or did he have a jeweler do it? How big was the radius, could he say?

Please forgive all my questions; it could be a good defense against the Zealots taking people, if we made enough for everyone.

it's fine, i know some of the answers? they didn't run the experiment long so they still have the stone. and the jeweller they hired made it, yeah.

i could ask for the measurements but its not as powerful as it could be bc of the cost. the guy was talking about house extensions or pthumerian blood for more stones or more powerful ones

They like to take people when they faint from all the blood pollution in the air in November. If our Sleepers could draw it out of the air with a bloodstone, they wouldn't faint from it. It wouldn't stop the Zealots from doing very much, but it might give people a chance to get away.

Perhaps by November I'll be able to make some.

[or perhaps michael and wanda will be available for home renovations. or the patrons might even thank them for sealing away riteoir by giving them pthumerian blood...sansa suspects madame generosity would consider it, but asking for a thank you gift from her patron for saving her life seems unforgivably rude to her.]

viktor says your blood hound can have some of the pollution that they gather up for tests. he can let you know when they have some spare from testing. i know they do some tests about making it solid.

theyre still doing tests so that could be an idea re: more people having them. depends on how easy they are to use compared to other bloodstones and what effect they have on the environment. i know theyre being really careful about that after some accidents. but they did some tests in lumenwood because thats where the air is thickest from blood pollution

everything is really early stages.

you should talk with viktor more about it, hes talking with the stone maker too. i mean, im telling him but he likes theories. and you always have ideas. and it sounds like youre both learning from the same person

I have told him he can always ask me anything about bloodstone. I suppose we've both been very busy lately. He has my notes from Adaine, and Master Hira introduced us both to my new jewelry teacher.

I think you would do well apprenticing with someone like Master Simeon, though. He mostly does pale and cold bloodstone for necklaces and things, but you can make any simple bloodstone the same way. A good deal of learning to do it is just practicing the same techniques over and over. It's slow work, but it provides a good foundation for all sorts of magic.

well if viktor doesnt have time to teach me ill look into it. ive been already practising with him and outside of classes since im used to it. i learned most of what i did back home that way. you could get your hands on a lot of resources on the network we had back home

is it just for jewellery or for special effects? the bloodstone making you were learning. i know most jewellers like to make coldstones respond to extreme temperatures

Yes, anyone can learn to use a blood gem tool. All of the jewelers here were born in Trench, and none of them have our blood powers. My first jewelry teacher took me on shortly after I came here; of course it helped that I could pay him in Paleblood. He'll take on anyone that I vouch for.

i have warmblood + idk about jewellery + i am still in school but it sounds cool and useful better than fighting sorry to be an imposition... could you show me a little of what you do? i would rather ask another sleeper than bother a master

I should like very much to help you, but I am busy with both of my apprenticeships. You are welcome to come with me and observe what it is we do, and I can introduce you to Master Simeon; he isn't truly a master jeweler, and he will teach you the techniques you need to know to practice by yourself. You can use my blood gem tool, if you like, while I'm sewing. I'm sure it wouldn't be any trouble for him; an apprentice is very useful, even if it only for a few hours once a week, before or after lessons. The School of Mutter can teach you how to use bloodstone from other blood types, it is one of the best ways for the people born here to use our magic, so they know very much about it.

It is very useful, and better than fighting. I can give you some pale bloodstone and cold bloodstone to practice with, at the school.

viktor teaches me engineering. how machines work and putting magic into them. blood stones and drawing blood for them too

you can use some to wash clothes too. you need to make space for everything but i can tell you what everyone loves to have back home and what ive seen around here
vacuums for cleaning up floors and carpets (not spills but dust, flaky dried mud). dishwashers you can put in dirty plates and utensils to wash for you

oh and a microwave to reheat food? very good. it doesnt cook for you but theres some stuff that cooks different food
