Deku here. This is a safety advisory. The Farther Shores are hazardous due to thunderstorms and unusual Pthumerian presence. For those who don't know, The Reckoning punishes wrongdoings. Please don't do anything that might catch her attention, especially at the beach. Her sense of justice doesn't show mercy, and she will kill.

I'd rather you have to deal with me than her.

[ Anyone with a keen eye can see a subtle shiver passing over Midoriya despite him being well-covered in his green jumpsuit and hero gear. ]

For anyone who needs help leaving the beach after getting too close, just give me a call. But it's better to stay away from the area altogether.

Travel to Riteior's former city, the village of The Slumbering One, and The Outpost has been increasing. I'd like a little help coordinating my shifts on the roads and getting messages to the Hunters and other protectors at these locations.

[ He bobs his head and looks about ready to end the video. Then his eyes dart to something (or someone?) offscreen, breaking the square-shouldered civil servant vibe. He looks back at the viewer again, looking more like the shy freckled teenager he is. ]

Umm, on a personal note... It's my birthday soon, and [ oh gods, oh gods, ] I'd l-like to invite everyone to a party. We come of age at 18 where I come from... It used to be 20, but they lowered it... Anyway, I was hoping to use the beach, but, well...

[ He gestures vaguely. ]

Let's figure out somewhere else... Please tell me if you can make it. There'll be food, drinks, party games, and music for sure. If you can see this--or hear it or whatever--you're invited.

how have you been doing? and do you have any requests for things you'd like at the party?

[ Peter's sobering immediately at mention of The Reckoning. It's been.... a looming fear in him for the past few weeks, as summer sets in. What happened last year........ he hasn't forgotten. He never can. And he's terrified it might happen to him again. ]

Can uh, confirm The Reckoning isn't one to mess around with. And that it's better to stay away from the beach. [ Peter offers a small smile. He's here to back you up, Deku....

But oh, 18th birthday? That's something much nicer to think about, and the older is giving a rare smile that actually reaches his eyes. He's not all gloom all the time.... and it's nice that among everything, Deku gets to have a party. He deserves something nice and normal like that. ]

Hey, eighteen....! That's a big year for sure. I'd love to come, and I'm sure Luna would, too.

If there's anything we can do to help out, let me know? I'm totally down to lend a hand.

Mostly I just... don't know how to throw a party beyond a dinner thing. I don't even know where to do it. My place isn't big enough.

[ Even if his apartment were big enough for a small turnout, he suspects a few guests would murder each other out of annoyance at being packed close together. His party goals include: not murder. ]

Hmmmm... I've been watching her from afar.

[She might have actually been verifying that, again, the squids weren't showing up. It was a confirmation of the reality she'd been experiencing of late, and she did it often in the early month, despite the rains.]

She doesn't seem interested in us, though. She's very focused on something.

[She honestly wondered if the Reckoning planned to cut Marina or something.]

In my experience, when someone bothers someone very focused on something, they get mad. And it's just a terrible feeling she's putting out too, like the air is thick... Reminds me of walking into class and everyone staring at me...

I mean, if she's going to defend us from a kaiju, I won't complain, but it's just a bad time to be around there right now.

I definitely would never interrupt her with anything she's doing if one does not have the force to back oneself up with, and none of us have that kind of force. [She grunted as she said it.]

Perhaps she is. I'm sure there's some out there that qualify as evil doers. she's not really the 'defender' sort so much as the 'avenger' sort.

Yeah, that's the thing that makes it so worrying. She's already got a problem with someone, or something has happened that's a problem, and we don't know about it. She keeps her promises, and those promises are punishments.

There isn't much we can do to dissuade her, so hopefully we're not going to experience some giant reprisal from her. I'm thinking about staying at the Outpost for the week, honestly. Might be safer.

I like to be centrally located in Trench, but that's only because I can protect a lot of people at once. Now that people can leave Trench more easily, all that's changing.

If you do stay out there, do you mind if I regularly check in on the Omni?

The more we build a proper network of lanterns, the faster responses can be made everywhere. Still, you're not wrong. Trench is a helpful location for that localized experience. I... am not quite so good for protection of late, at least not that way, so a bit less localized would not be bad.

Honestly? my life in town has been about as positive as it's ever been, with a couple little but important exceptions. But those were always things I'd have to deal with.

Right now, I'm safe, healthy and my blood isn't acting up much at all. It's... nice. [Though, hah...] Admittedly, it's still acidic, but I know how to handle that.

Nothing out of the ordinary, then... Good to know. Okay, I'll be in touch. There's really only one day this month when I know I'll be busy... [ He grins sheepishly. ]

I am reiterating my request that wherever this party is held, it's somewhere defensible. With good sightlines. Perhaps a rapid response force or two on standby.

I'm pretty sure half the guests will count as rapid response forces...

I'd end up wanting to meet these people at the party instead of putting them on guard duty. Ah--we could talk about setting up some shifts along the roads...

[ He didn't consciously want to throw a party to arrange team-ups, but he can't pass that up either. Getting him to relax is an arduous task. ]

[ It's always a high honor to be compared to a mother in Paul's unbiased opinion. Fondness seeps into his voice. ]

You're going to be having fun at your party, and the fun will flow from you enjoying yourself. Believe me. I studied party theory extensively.

[ Paul didn't have any friends his age until he came to Trench, and the parties he would have studied would have been ones wherein he was expected to gain a political advantage, but Midoriya fails to remember or point this out. ]

I guess that's true. Uraraka-san's always trying to get me to socialize instead of doing stuff off to the side. And Kaworu-kun had to trick you into a party for you.

[ That's exactly what Paul was banking on, although Paul would prefer Midoriya not remember about his failure to follow his own advice. Still, he's nothing if not adaptable. ]

That's right, he did, and look at how that worked out for us.

Let us look after you for a while. It would make all of your friends happy to do that for you.

I'm still not used to... I mean, I'm used to having friends now, it's been long enough, but... It just feels strange sometimes, when I stop to think. I can hardly believe it. I'm really grateful.

And we're grateful for it, too.

I know how you feel, though. It's...not a bad strange. Just strange.

So we remind each other sometimes, right?

[ He almost says That I am loved, but what he says instead is something that is easier for him to say out loud. ]

[ Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, far be it for him to presume, to speak for someone else's feelings. Not when Paul sometimes becomes downright saccharine in one of his sentimental moods, or when Kaworu cannot stand to be without their company... No, Midoriya must not presume! ]

[ The reluctance to presume, in spite of all evidence, is one of the qualities they share. Their saving grace is that it's no longer a reluctance to confess. ]

[His problems with birthdays only apply to his own, and even though he and Deku travel in somewhat different circles, Ezra's clocked how hard Deku works. So, yes, honored!]

I'll do my best to be careful. I was down for the count for a chunk of this month last year, too.

I'm thinking about moving the date up this year, hopefully before The Reckoning does anything drastic. I just think it would be nice for everyone to have a good time while we can.
