Hello everyone! Ladies and Gentlemen and.. people who aren't either but.. are other things I guess- ANYWAY! I'm Bolin, you might know me, I was in Deerington for a little while before we made the journey here. Mako's brother, earthbender, at your service.

[Bright! Excited! He's got so much to say and it's all great!! Bolin is sitting in a booth in The Raccoon Room, it's all very fancy and newly opened as you might remember from the big party on Halloween. Heck, you might have seen him there performing tricks with his omen Pabu the fire ferret, who is currently draped around the back of Bolin's neck like a scarf, only mildly interested in what's happening but squeaks every time Bolin gesticulates particularly big.]

Firstly, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who came to the Raccoon Room's opening night, it was great and I know it meant the world to Mako and Wu. And hey, if you had fun you should come back which is what brings me to my next point!

We're gonna do a musical.

[Jazz handssssssss! His eyes are very bright. Is this a good thing? Should you be worried? Remains to be seen.]

Wu has asked me to direct it, with music by Ryan from Chicken Choice Judy aand I know what you're thinking: Oh- Bolin [In falsetto, because that's how you all sound and you know it.] but a musical we don't know-

Wrong-o, it is going to be amazing and you're all going to love it. So good news, we're casting!

There's going to be auditions.. and costumes and music! And sets! It's going to be like a live action mover with songs, I can't actually think of anything better.

[ Okay, you can do this, Mako, just be a little more clear. He sighs. ]

[ S I G H. Okay, another tactic. Mako leans a little closer. It's time to be... honest. ]

Listen. I'm gonna tell you what I told Ryan: this isn't on you, and if she shows up here or something and makes it your fault, then she's the wrong one, not you. Got it? You physically can't break up with her. There's no right or wrong here: you literally can't do it, unless you want to... I don't know, symbolically do something. Write a letter, put it in a bottle, drop it in the ocean.

But, Bo—we're not the same people that we were at home. Alright? We're... different. You're not cheating, you're not doing some skeevy thing—trust me, if you were, I would tell you.

[He listens, face dropping little by little as Mako goes on. Shoulders slumping inch by inch. It just seems so unfair. To Opal, to him, the future.

But the worst part.. is that Mako is right. He's absolutely right. And some part of Bo is relieved. The other part of him is upset that he's relieved, and he doesn't know how to feel about that.

But, finally: ]

Yeah.. I.. I think you're probably right. Even if we aren't the same anymore I still feel like.. I don't know, like there's this tether? And I should let it go. A letter is a good idea.

...yeah, bro. Any time.

[ A little sincere, a little awkward. Peak Mako. He reaches out to squeeze Bolin's hand for a second. ]

I want you to be happy, you know?

[He gives his hand. The squeeze is reassuring. All of this is pretty foreign for him. Usually when he leaves a relationship it's on a boat and for his life. This is so... one sided and weird and uncomfortable. It makes him doubt himself and that doubt can be paralyzing.]

Thanks.. me too. I mean, I want to be happy but I want you to be happy. You are, aren't you?

[arclightning]

[ Mako's face softens into an actual, real smile. He's worried about Bolin, yeah, but he has a place to live and he has Wu and they're all figuring this out together, and anyway, Bolin's gonna figure this out. He has a musical to run. Mako can step back and let him run it. ]

Yeah, bro. I am.

[ Narrator voice: he was not.

But that comes later. ]
