What you are witnessing right now is a giant hawk alongside several songbirds, chipmunks, squirrels, and all sorts of other forest animals all along the shelves with jars and jars and JARS of fruits, vegetables, and various other items, putting things in alphabetical order while there are meats drying and curing above in bunches hanging from bars just above the shelves alongside plants like sage, willow bark, lavender, and more. Snow is putting up another row of meat to dry out on the bars.

Her Omen, a giant stag, stomps a hoof and Snow turns to look at him.]

Oh! Yes, thank you Faramund!

Why hello everyone!

[There's some chittering from behind Snow White, two raccoons holding up a bowl of washed strawberries.]

Oh, yes, I'll get to the strawberries in just a moment, thank you dears, why don't you start on the cucumbers? We're saving the fish for pickling last.

[She turns to look back to the stag.]

Where was I? [One of the songbirds tweets behind her.] Oh yes, thank you.

I was speaking to my friends, and they said it would be best to prepare for winter!

[Snow, for her part, is quite in her element, being from the 1500s and Germany, winters could be particularly harsh and it wasn't all that strange to dry and cure and jar and pickle things to survive the winter.]

Well, when we went foraging, my friends and I gathered such a large amount that I have plenty to spare!

So, would anyone like some preserves? I have all sorts of fruit and vegetables, and the meat isn't done drying and curing but there should be plenty of that to share as well! And there will be pickled fish and crab. We're going to go mushroom and truffle hunting once we have this all done!

[Snow giggles when there are cheers of excitement around her by the animals.]

Well of course we'll get enough for everyone!

I'm very glad you had a loving mother, Luz, everyone deserves that.

But really, it's alright, I'm far away from her and it isn't as if she's here to stop people from talking to me, trying to cut out my heart, or poison me anymore! I'm much safer and much happier, too. You don't need to get mad on my behalf.

[Queen Grimhilde was definitely... not great. Far from it. But Snow doesn't see the point in being sad about it. Not when it's in the past and is literally not anything she can change. Her stepmother is not here, Snow White is safer here than she's ever been anywhere else.]

If you don't mind sparing them, I'd like a few of the reserves, and some fruits and vegetables. I think I want to try making the gang a stew later on this week.

Yes, I did understand, but which ones, Luz. I can't very well guess at what everyone in your house likes to eat.

What sort of stew? Every vegetable causes a change in the flavor of the stew, dear. Do you want it to be vegetable stew? A meat stew? A fish stew? A fowl stew? Those are all very different in taste.

Oh, I was going to let you pick, since I figure you know which preserves you're willing to let go. Trust me, I don't mind working with what I can get!

But, if you're offering, if you have some peach, raspberry and strawberry preserves, I don't mind taking those off your hands. As for vegetables, I'm looking at celery, carrots, more of your root varieties. You don't have any potatoes, do you? They'd come in handy!

Also, if you can spare some meat, I'd be really grateful! They're actually harder to come by since Fern can't grow them, and I know he's pretty busy. Fish I'm fine with, but if you have bird I definitely wouldn't say no.

Well, I'm willing to let everything go. It's not as if I own these things! They were there for anyone to forage. [Being raised as a maid with a bed of straw and dress of rags and then exiled tended not to make you materialistic.]

Hmm, I'm afraid we didn't find wild celery. Carrots, potatoes, turnips, onions, and a few other root vegetables, certainly but not celery. I'm so sorry! And we have all sorts of nuts, of course, thanks to my squirrel and chipmunk friends. The root vegetables are thanks to my rabbit, badger, mice, and wild boar friends!

The meat will take another day or so to dry before I can give any of it away. And yes of course, fish and fowl. [Snow White would allow herself to starve if it meant others were fed first. Besides, she's one person. Luz is part of a giant household. Of course she needs more than Snow.]

No celery? Well, can't be helped. Those others I can still work with, you don't have to apologize! If you can tell them thank you for me, please do! I always wished I could talk to animals!

Well, if you've always wanted to talk to animals, why don't you then, dear? If I can learn to do it, you most certainly can!

I don't even know what you could give me, Luz. You can't give me food, that's what I'm giving you, after all!

You listen, of course. Think about the fact that a baby isn't born knowing a language. That's why a baby of one country speaks a different language, or how someone can learn to speak many languages!

You know, maybe you're right. Granted, I think it would be pretty hard to learn animal speech, but I can at least give it a shot! I'm already bilingual, this'll just be another language to try!

Crenshaw, Varian helped me find it. He thought it might be best for me to stay in a protected area, isn't that sweet? I was staying in a friend's cave just before this or in some of the more run-down homes. I didn't know I could just... take a home!

I was actually learning magic before coming here! It just so happens I now have innate magic, though that's a little harder to handle.

Yeah, there are plenty of people here who use magic with good intentions! I almost wish you could have met my last teacher, Miss Hardbroom. She was kinda standoffish, but she took being a witch seriously and would never get behind anyone using it with bas intentions!

I think Varian especially thrives on them though, and sometimes that shouldn't always be encourages. He can be pretty slipshod when it comes to safety sometimes, and he can be terrible at taking care of himself.

People who tend to thrive on them are usually ones who didn't get very much. I thrive on them too.

But until he's better at taking care of himself, he has help from his loved ones to remind him. After all, no one can be good at everything.
