[ the feed comes on by itself. ahiru hasn't realized she's turned it on as she's pouring over these pamphlets intently, talking out loud because that's just how she functions. ]
Okay, so to get food, I need to make money. To make money, I need a job . . . What do they have?
[ she looks over the first pamphlet. ]
Healer! That doesn't sound so bad! Something something . . . "mini . . . ministration . . ." Blood? Eugh, no.
[ she tosses that one aside. ]
Next one . . . Hunter.
[ a beat. she stares at it. it stares back at her as if it knows her secret. she immediately scrunches it up, tossing into the trash can because she's not an animal.
( just a bird. that people may hunt?? duck confit is a thing. ) ]
This one! This'll be the one! Arcane scholars . . . "They either wish to consume all the knowledge they can or share all the knowledge that they can." . . .
[ another beat. she sighs. ]
Well, I'm not smart enough to be one of those. Aaaah! I'm never going to get a job! I'm going to starve! I'll never be able to have bread agaaaaain.
[ doom is clearly at hand. ]

4/4 END
[ nailed it. ]

This kid is so simple.
And that makes Ange fuss. Instantly. She's trying hard to not let it show on the outside, to keep up her usual pokerface, but oh god, this kid seems so innocent and gullible and that means this place is going to eat her right up if no one helps her. ]
Well.. you know, a friend of mine has a bakery you should stop by then. She won't get fussy about payment, especially when you're new. [ She's nice like that, Ange thinks, even if she might also not easily show as much.
Besides, who could resist helping someone like Ahiru? ] She mostly makes cake, but I'm sure she could make you bread too.

[ Ange does know Lysithea was asking for people to help her.. though she isn't sure if people haven't already flocked over to the establishment to help out.
But.. oh, well. Ange is sure the other wouldn't mind a few more hands helping out. ]
Then you shouldn't have to feel guilty about taking a piece of cake, right?
no subject
I don't know . . . I'm not very good at many things. I'm not sure I'd be a big help. Or even a little help . . .
no subject
Well, what are you good at then? There's got to be something, right?
no subject
Uhm . . . Actually . . .

Ange is definitely quiet for a while, as if she expects something more to come, but.. nothing follows.
So then she finally slowly speaks up with: ]
Are you really trying to say you're not good at anything at all..?

[ It's not like Ange to be too openly sappy, but.. well, she figures that this isn't being sappy as much as it's just an objective fact about reality. ]
Sure, everyone has things they're bad at, but they have things they're good at too. If you don't think you have anything you're good at, it's just that you haven't discovered it yet, you know.

[ for people. not really for ducks . . . ]

Or try something else out. It's not like you can just sit around all day, right? Anyone would get bored.
no subject
[ she's never been the sitting around and wallowing type. she just knows her abilities are limited. being a girl offers her a lot more, but she is still . . . just a duck. ]
Thank you for your advice! You're very helpful.

[ Apparently someone here isn't good at taking compliments, despite everything she just told Ahiru.. since she's deflecting this one pretty quickly. Almost as if she's practiced at it.
(She practically is, at this point.) ]
I'm pretty sure anyone here would have told you this much, if not more.
no subject
[ doesn't matter how many people tell her. each piece of advice is valuable. besides, she is a little . . . slow on the uptake. ]

[ It's a slight sound of realisation. The realisation, to be specific, that this girl is one of those types of people. Too nice for their own good. Not backing down from wanting to thank and compliment others.
Ange knows that's a battle she can never win from those sorts of people. So rather than trying to downplay it further, she just says: ]
.. thanks. [ Just giving in. ] What's your name?
no subject
What's yours?
no subject
[ That's a rather unique name. Though not too strange to Ange, considering-- ]
Did you meet Usagi yet? [ Clearly the animal-named girls should meet up. Not even just because it's funny, but also just-- ] I think you two would get along.
[ They both have something vaguely ditzy and yet way too nice about them. ]
Either way, my name is Ange. Ange Ushiromiya.
no subject
It's nice to meet you, Ange! And no, I haven't met her yet, I'm still getting to know everyone.
no subject
Well, if you ever see her, make sure to hit her up. [ Because there's no way they wouldn't get along. ]
Though I guess I should leave you to explore a bit more first.
[ J-Just please don't run into anything dangerous.. okay.. ]
no subject
Take care! I hope I can see you again!
