[Varian is off on the boardwalk, looking out onto the ice- heading out periodically to help people to shore. He's not looking great. His skin is starting to turn the ashen colour it did a few months back, and tiredness hangs on him. He still seems ready to head out anyway. He pauses when he sees Manabu- frowning softly. ]

You'd be better speaking to Mako. I know he's setting up safehouses for supplies.

[he does a little double-take from his Omni, still holding the crate lid he's just pried open. oh, hey kid.

Oh...good, glad to hear it.

[They can be trash humans together, it's fine. He gestures vaguely out at the icy ocean.]

Helping people get out of the ice. This is when the newcomers start to show up and I don't want them to drown before they even get to shore. I have some chemicals to get through the ice quickly. I don't get cold anymore so I figured it was better to be out here helping.

[Better than stay at home and think about how useless he is to literally everyone. ]

Perhaps I should have not used a metaphor. Have you found anything like meat? My brother and I are from a carnivorous species. Fruits and vegetables do not contain enough nutrients to make it worth eating them.

[Rapunzel had been planning her own trip out to the wreckage she'd heard chatter about in her trip through the city earlier - after all, she'd been pretty dedicated to making herself useful for the new friends that took her in. So this?? She'll take it as a good sign!]

A little more, yes, but not by much. [She giggles.] But before we do that, well, we'll have to see if the seeds are even usable! If they've been cooked, they won't be able to grow anything. But, I do know lots of things we can do with onions! They're really excellent in any dish and help flavor pickling!

From what I've gathered, a lot of these ships were Trench-native, but...I can't figure out where it was they went to get all this stuff. Any manifests or logs I do find are pretty waterlogged or too messed-up to parse through...
