Sorry to bother you guys, but maybe not so much.

Fern is...dead. This sucks, but isn't the only problem.

Varian's been under stress and corruption since last month, but that happening with Fern pretty much made the worst case scenario happen. He's corrupted now, and I'm sure a lot of us don't want the hunters to get to him before any of us can.

By us, I mean, well, any of you willing to help go and try to wrangle him up. We'll get to him before anyone else does, try to cap any destruction he might cause, and pacify him so we can get him home so he can recover.

So who's in? No plan or person will be refused.

He just left the house. Replanted Fern and am trying to follow as we speak.

Trust me, you're not going to miss him. He's about ten feet now.

If we get the right people, a few will be all we need.

Mostly we need to counteract.

Varian's pretty big and he'll be a handful to stop. We need a team capable of doing that, and some who'll stop him from destroying and injuring anyone in the process.

Then we'll need to get a blood minister as soon as we can.

Yeah, he is. What's left to regrow is at the house now Luca.

Blood minsters are the best bet for undoing, but there's work we have to get done before that happens. He has to be stopped before he can be uncorrupted.

This might be a time where you want to sit this out. I'm getting people to help now, but no one's taking care of Fern yet, or preparing the house for when we DO get him back.

So, you realize that some of us ARE hunters, right?

Here's what I'm going to do, and it's the biggest favor I can do Varian right now.
I'm going to run interference as best I can and buy you and who you find some time.
But if Varian causes actual real trouble I can't do that for long with them.

Get him to a Night Walker or Minister, pronto.
And like I said, I'll see if I can keep the regular hunters off his back for a little bit.
Just know that it won't last forever so you're on a timer.

I'm trying to head him off Hunters who are out to kill alone. It's bad enough we have to revive Fern. I don't want to have to do that to Varian.

WE don't want Varian to cause more trouble so he attracts more attention, believe me.

Trust me, I'm not taking more time than I have to. I don't want any of this happening in the first place. The sooner we gather a posse, the better chance we'll have at getting him home.

( Peter's so only recently been brought out of a pretty intense period of Corruption, himself. He has absolutely no memory of most of December — and so he had no clue what's been going on with Varian. He can't even remember the last time he spoke with him... was it about the secret hideaway rooms they both had...? That feels so far away now.

....Then there's Fern. This is truly a double dose of horrible news, and Peter's visibly shaken as he turns on his video feed, eyes wide. )

Luz... ( He knows she lives with Fern and Varian. Did she... witness all of it...? There's the immediately pressing concern about what's happening to Varian right now, but Peter can't help voicing the thought that's breaking through everything. )

No. Fern's death happened when he was on a mission with his friend Dirk. Fern dying is what CAUSED Varian's transformation.

Gosh, I can't even imagine an OK scenario where that would happen. But no. I think Fern was trying to help Varian before this happened.

Got it! I can get other hunters off your trail. Where's he headed? I'll set some fires in the other direction.

[It's basically the magical equivalent of paying a cab driver to drive miles in the opposite direction to lure government agents away from him.]

It's a...weird story that Fern'll tell better. For now, he's being repotted. I'm trying to focus on getting Varian back.

[This was a very serious situation, yet Luz couldn't help but snicker at Grunkle Stan's impudence. Of COURSE that's how he would help, in his own chaotic way]!

[Maul's face is impassive and it's hard to tell what the Sith Lord is thinking. He'd been afraid of something like this happening and now it had. Well, if there's hard decisions to be made, he'll be the one to help make them.]

Do you think there's any chance of reaching him? Or shall he need to be put down before he hurts people?

[Maul's beginning to think that's what his calling is going to become here: doling out mercy killings when they become necessary. Still killing but for a better cause this time.]

That's why I sent this out. In his state, there needs to be a few of us trying to stop him.
