Does anyone want to play a nice good game of volleyball?

We had someone mention it and it reminded me I haven't played in so long. So I want to find people to actually play a game.

Friends may be dragged to play, but those I might not know let me know if you are interested.

I think you know you won't have to twist my arm that hard. I enjoyed it the last time I played on the beach. When we arrived.

Mmm, but perhaps indoors or after the snows? It is quite cold and playing in a parka isn't quite as much fun is it?

I was thinking indoors anyway as outdoors is only good when it's the summer.

Perfect. It'll be a good excuse for a little bit of exercise, and it really is good, simple fun. Are you thinking two on two for this?

That's why volleyball is perfect. Great exercise and can be really fun if you are able to get enough people together.

But it depends on how many people want to play.

And even if we only have four that's enough for the fun. Different sort of fun, but it's still an easy game to do with just a few isn't it?

Different sort yes and doable. Just means less positions to play with.

It also means that it's a little easier to teach with just forward and server. I had an easier time learning the rules like that.

Did you really learn better with fewer?

I'm use to having all the positions, but I guess for some better that way.

I probably just had a good teacher is all. I doubt I really know the game quite that well. But we shall see soon, yes?

That's right, maybe I can see how much you have learned.

I would be happy to teach you the rule since in this case we'd want to play it as closely as we can to the real thing.

How long have people been here? In my previous world, there were those who felt they could spend idle hours together, but it had been nearly a year for them.

I don't mean to seem rude, I simply question the wisdom of fun-times now.

Yes, or at least I'm hoping to be abel to put something together.

We've all been in this place for around...a few months now. Not counting the last place then that's a whole different kettle of fish.

But I get questioning doing something fun, but considering this world is just going to always throw something. It's good to be able to do something during the good points.

Sorry, it's mostly that I think of volleyball as being a summertime beach game.

I've had something of a taste of the bad. And you are right, it's always better to do something fun while one can.

No, that's fine really because for a lot of people that is what they think of first. But its a s[ort that can be played in the Olympics, but probably isn't as well known a sport compared to like Gymnastics or Athletics in that area.

Yes, there was a place before we came to this one. I had been there for a while, I think I was very close to being there for a year, but just missed out on that. I know people who have been there longer.

Exactly. Though now I am curious. What do you class as fun?

Maybe that's my problem. I spent most of my time watching the gymnasts so I didn't get into most of the other sports. Except men's swimming, that was always fun for pure aesthetics.

Why do I feel like I've landed in the middle of a holovid and I literally have no idea of what to do or what my particular plot point should be, but everyone already knows everyone else and what theirs are?

Dance, mostly. Ballroom, jazz dance, hip hop, but mostly ballet. That one, I'm really good at. Oh, and beating up bad guys, though there wasn't much demand for it in the other place. It's a great stress reliever, though.

I mean they were pretty great sports to watch.

I mean we're not in one, but having no idea of what to do or plot points seems like something I understand. Not knowing what to do for your part is not something one can figure out instantly. Comes with time. I'm still figuring things out myself.

Doesn't ballet hurt your feet. I mean you are on tiptoes a lot, right? And yesh beating up bad guys always sounds liek a good stress relief. I wouldn't be good at it myself though.

Absolutely. As close to ballet as it can be without the ballet.

...I'm glad that I don't have to figure everything out immediately. I worry so much about those I've left behind, both in my world and the other world. But I wonder if they remember me? What I've been through?

Not really, not once one has gotten accustomed to such. Before I left home for the most recent time, I had Karate Kid train me in martial arts. I couldn't say why I wanted it, simply that I did.

I'm sure they will remember you. If they are good friends after all then they should. Would be really odd if they forgot.

Was it for something like self defence?

Thank you for your kindness. I would like to believe I'm remembered, that what I went through meant something. Though, I suppose that's the same for all of us.

Yes. I'm a member of something called the Legion. We respond to intergalactic threats that can't be handled by anyone else. All of us have at least one power.

A group that responds to threats, huh? And powers? So does that mean you have one yourself?

No matter how big the threats were, we could handle them. And I do. Or I did. Since I've arrived, I haven't been able to use them. I can still see the path between dimensions, but it seems closed to me.

Oh, Count me in!
We haven't had a lot of chances to cut loose and just play sports.
There were the baseball teams an old friend set up last summer but they aren't here anymore.

I'm sorry to hear that, but hey we could maybe set up a volleyball team if we are lucky.

We would though need another team to go up against though.

It's probably for the best. I mean not a lot of people want to get stuck in here, right?

It seems like you're getting some good responses here. I'm sure we'll get enough for another team.

That or you can 1v1 me.

That's right and it's undertandable why peopel wouldn't want to get stuck in here.

I am thankfully, so we will see. As soon as I know I will try and set something up.

I can also do 1v1's anytime honestly. Volleyball is just fun for me when not working.

At minimum four would be best and I should be able to get at least that.

That's at minimum, but apparently for some they can learn easier with fewer.

At the moment I know of at least two 100%, but I have a couple more friends I am sure would love to join, so over all I would say maybe four.

Seems like I managed to get a good few people interested which I didn't know how it was actually going to go.

I think the equipment and water might be a good idea. We could also discus how to sort out teams on the day.

yes!!!! 💪we’ll need two teams of two for each round, so we can all do pairs! and i’ll squeeze in where there aren’t any.

Thats at minimum depending on numbers, but seems like pairs will be the best bet.

Since before high school at least. Was on the volleyball team back home.

super cool!!! i practiced a lot with the girl’s team in middle school, since i was the only one on the boy’s team for a real long time. i only got to play on a real team in high school!
