[ Even as the image can be seen, it seems like there's still a moment of set up, tiny hands fiddling with the Omni like they're trying to get the perfect shot.. But then there are two faces visible. Two faces that are looking decidedly younger than usually - it's Ange and Ruby, looking like they definitely can't be much older than six years old.

And looking very excited. ]

Um, so, so..! We heard that there's some sort of reaaally scary snake monster out there! So.. we thought we'd help out everyone and get rid of it! Because Ruby.. She's a really, reaaally cool huntress! [ Ange may be Will-Smith-esque posing at Ruby for emphasis right as she says that. ]

[Ruby just stares at the camera briefly until she notices Ange's hands pointing her way. She blinks and quickly starts to flex her twiggy arms to the camera.]

Yeah! We're super strong and awesome and we've got tons of weapons! [Ruby gestures to a sack of potato's and a large collection of sticks that they've gathered up.]

That snack is going to be- a- -uh- a, a piece of snack!

[ While Ruby is saying that last part, it seems that Ange has already moved over to grab one of the sticks for a demonstration. As she's running back towards where Ruby and the Omni are, she's waving the stick wildly. ]

We'll get it just like thi--

[ Ange manages to smack the stick right against the device, turning the view sideways before it just cuts out entirely.

Oops. ]

[ Please, Anna, even a little girl is apparently not willing to believe it. Because Ange is still smiling, clearly not discouraged in the slightest. ]

But being goofy isn't bad, right?

[ Ange likes being goofy! Her big brother is also very goofy, and he is clearly the ideal role model. ]

I think you're at your prettiest when you smile! [ Not that she can see Anna, she can only hear the laugh on the other's end, the smile in her voice - but maybe this is some memory from the older Ange's mind that's been transplanted into this little one. ]

[that gets a little bit of a drier laugh out of her. and she does have to double-check the omni real quick to make sure she hasn't accidentally turned on video—not an issue, thankfully, so it sounds like baby ange over here is just talking generally or something.]

Maybe I am, Ange. But that's why you never see me smile much. So when it does happen, you can really treasure it. [or her face just ain't built for smiling. either way.] It's all part of my master plan.

[ The first one is a - slightly muted - 'oh' of surprise.

But the second one: ]

[ That's definitely an 'oh' of realisation. Though who knows whether it's the good kind or not in this situation, considering what the child goes on to say. ]

Does that mean I should smile less, miss Anna?! Maybe people won't treasure my smiles if I do it too much..!

Oh, uh—

[shit. that's not the lesson she wants to impart. think fast, amaranth.]

—no, you're doing just fine exactly how you are. I've kind of made this my whole thing, you know? You don't gotta live up to my example or anything. Be yourself.

[ Thankfully little Ange is very easily convinced. ]

But if I'm myself.. does that mean I need to have my own thing..? [ This, however, seems to be where her brain gets stuck on for now. She will gladly grant Anna the fact that not smiling is her thing, but.. ] I dunno what kind of thing I'd have though..

You've got time to figure out your thing. I didn't hit mine until I was, like, 26. [different thing, but same idea.]

And that's an eternity from now. [she affects the voice of a much older woman] You have until you're walking around with a cane and you're all wrinkled and bony like meeeeee.

[ At least this is one thing they can agree on.

Because little Ange over here? She, too, thinks that 26 is a lifetime away from her right about now. Sorry, Anna, that makes you an even older lady. ]

You have a cane too then?!

[ .. though, apparently, this is what Ange is taking from it all. If she'll have a cane in an eternity, surely Anna must already have it now! ]

I've never seen you use it before.. Were you hiding it? [ Why would she, Ange!! ] Is it a cool cane?

It's a very cool cane, mädchen. It comes out of my leg. That's why they're actually robotic. One stores my cane and one stores my snacks.

[she cannot do this forever. but she'll do anything to make a kid laugh.]

[ Her jaw drops. It's audible in her voice too. She's gasping right before she speaks up, and her way of speaking is getting quicker and quicker, as if she can't contain her excitement. ]

You have a candy leg?!

[ Forget the cane.

This is so much better. Ange sounds so happy at the very idea. ]

I want a candy leg too! Then I can hide all the candy in there, and no one can ever tell me to put it away, 'cause they won't know it's there..! [ A little candy rebel in the making. ]

And the good part is that you don't even need to lose a leg for it. You can just strap a pouch on it under your dress and then no one will ever know. It's a secret to everyone.

Except me, but I won't tell.

Miss Anna, you only have the bestest ideas!

[ Look how happy it's made her too. Clearly Anna is discovering her secret babysitting talents here. The omni is shaking because Ange can't hold it still out of excitement. ]

I'm going to see if I can do that right now! I'll ask Ruby to help me.. she likes candy too!

Hellllllll—ck yeah, kids, go for it. [no swearing in front of the children, anna.] Don't put too many in your trial run, though. That way you don't lose out on much if you get caught.

And if you do get caught, tell me who caught you and I'll get as much back as I can.

[ Who knew Ange would have her own candy protector. She sounds like she's marveling at the very idea of it. ]

Okay, I will! [ She doesn't even hesitate. Like she doesn't doubt that Anna could somehow instantly get that candy back.

She's just that cool. ]
