[ The video flickers on to find Sara perched against her motorcycle on the edge of the woods, looking a little rough around the edges but mostly unhurt. ]

Alright, so... I can't tell if this place is better or worse than the last one yet, but judging from the creepy ambiance, the hopes aren't high. I've got some weapons with me from Deerington, though, so if you're in need of protection or a way to safety, let me know.

[ She chews on her lip a moment. ]

Also, anyone know where the hell to get a drink around here?

What kind of weapons? And nah, I haven't seen a bar or anything but I haven't explored too much.

[ She glances over him a minute, cautious as she tries to make out his surroundings. ]

Just some stuff I had stockpiled from the old town. Knives and some guns.

Looks like you found a safe place to hole up?

Old town? That Deerington place? I kinda want a weapon to make things easier but I have my claws, so if there's people who need 'em more then they should get first go.

( His voice is a little somber. )

Not too hard to find abandoned places to just kinda ... move into.

[ She cants her head at him curiously. ] Claws?

I haven't seen anything yet, but I haven't really left Gaze yet either. There's got to be something, though. I mean, I can't imagine in a place like this that no one has ever gone 'you know what I really need right now? To get really, really drunk.'

It seems better than Deerington in some ways, though? I mean, the townspeople at least are a lot nicer here.

[ She smirks. ]

Does it? Haven't been socializing much lately. Just trying to get my bearings, I guess. Though I guess being "better" than Deerington is kind of a low bar, isn't it?

Hey, look at it this way, if there's nothing you've got a corner on the market. Potentially anyway.

I haven't gone far yet - mostly sticking around Gaze, but we got a pretty warm welcome on arrival, and everyone I've talked to seem pretty nice - helpful, even?

[She returns the smirk.]

Granted, yeah, low bar - this place would have to actively try pretty hard to be worse than Deerington.

[ you know what's going to happen? a drink of sara's choice will appear in a bright red light and seat itself right beside the front wheel of her motorcycle. it's nice and cold and the red magic doesn't disappear until a little umbrella is placed inside of the glass and/or bottle.

with a smile, wanda turns on her device. ]

Beside you.

[ Familiar as she is with Wanda's magic, she's not sure she'll ever truly get used to it. Perking up when she sees the red light swirl into the form of an old fashioned, her eyes light up as the little umbrella drops into it, a bubble of laughter on her lips before she picks it up and returns her attention to the screen. ]

My hero.

[explosion]

[ any other day, she would deny, deny, deny being anyone's hero, but wanda's in a good mood. new place, new surroundings, a pocket full of magic, and familiar, friendly faces. that'd put any sad girl in a good mood. ]

Do you like it? [ she scrunches up her face. ] It could be a little on the salty side. I'm not used to making drinks.

[ he's still figuring out how this fucking thing works ( like a smart phone, but easier, but harder at the same time too ) - and he stares at her, though he knows better than to get his hopes up. different versions of people, she'd been going home last time he'd seen her... if it is here, that means she's not home any more. ]

I might have a lead on one.

[ It takes her a second to register that it's actually him - the familiarity in the mutter of his voice more of a shock than the actual video feed. She swallows, the smile on her lips flickering as if she's not sure it's quite real. ]

Book. [ Her gaze softens, taking him in a moment. ] You're really here? Where?

[ it is her, he can tell by the familiarity of the thought as it crosses her face, the cautious smile and the way she says his name. there isn't a flood of relief or joy, but those things are definitely there, countered by the fact that they're both here. ]

Sara.

Seen the place with the goat yet? [ he's not there, but he can get there. he doesn't really know how to describe where he's at anyway. ]

[ Zari actually looks pretty excited to see her face. ]

John said you were here but you might not know me yet. Super unfair for you, so we should fix that, but not with drinking. I mean you can drink, but I don't.

[ Sara blinks in surprise at the unfamiliar face, brow furrowing a moment to try and place her.

Nope. She's got nothing. ]

You know John? [ Oh. Right. ] Is this one of those from-the-future situations?

[catchatting]

Yes! My name is Zari. My brother and I live on the Waverider with you. He's a Legend. I'm... kind of a Legend, too, I guess.

[ That feels like a complicated thing to figure out. They've made her feel pretty welcome, but she also feels like she's not quite the right Zari and she's not even sure what she contributes other than people skills. She knows she's not useless but her skill set isn't exactly built for time-traveling superhero.

Yet. She'll get there. ]

John said you might be from when he first met you before any of the Legends were around. I'm a pretty new addition, so we should definitely get whatever passes for a mani-pedi in this place and catch up.

[ Her eyes light up when his video flickers on, a grin spreading on her face. ]

Eames! You got to bring a whole house? [ She frowns, impressed. ] Surprised we didn't drink all the liquor you had before we left Deerington.

I wouldn't say I brought it so much as I found it after walking around aimlessly for a day in a post-squid daze, but it's here. Final dregs and everything.

[Maul pans the camera across the room where there's some armor and quite a few weapons stored. Actually, that's a lot of weapons for one person to need, holy crap.]

My arsenal fortunately made the trip.

[ She smirks, eyes lighting up at the sight of the weapons on the wall. ]

Holy shit. That's good stuff. Does this mean you're finally gonna let me play with that laser sword?

Only when I am certain you aren't going to cut off your own foot wielding it.

[Maul might seem to have a light-hearted attitude when it comes to weapons but he takes them very seriously. Lightsabers required years to learn how to wield properly and even then it wasn't uncommon to lose a limb wielding one, as shown by fact three of the four wielders here in Trench had prosthetics from such incidents.]
