(The video feed opens up to Dirk squatting on the shoreline next to the Salt Lake. Behind him, the lake is shimmering with a brilliant pink light beneath the moonlight. Dirk's so still and pale that he looks like a statue. At least he does until he shifts back onto his heels. He's thoroughly drenched, only wearing a pair of sweatpants, some of his hair already frozen into peaks. By some miracle (or sheer force of will) he's not shivering.
Probably because he's beyond cold at this point. He's totally vibing with the bite.)
As a pro tip, taking a dip in the Salt Lake is good for the mind.
(...This was not an intentional discovery, but you would never know by how calmly he's speaking. His teeth aren't even chattering. He stands up. He places his hands on his hips. Dirk stares up at the moon, exhaling slowly, his breath forming a bit of fog in the air.)
Ironically, this helps with lockjoint too. (He raises his hands and turns them over as proof that he wasn't suffering from lockjoint due to the conditions. Granted, if he kept standing around in the cold like a jackass and the saltwater dried off...Hm. He curls his hands into fists.)
Just thought this would be an appreciated service announcement. I'm gonna go hit up Achelliac. See ya'll on the flip side.

[Action]
He unironically happened to be exploring in the area for something to eat, detoured now to make his way to the lake edge where Dirk was. He slipped off his massive coat as he went and threw it bodily on Dirk as soon as he saw the blond.]
You're going to get dry and warm before you go to any venues. Put that on. [It wasn't a request. Savage normally left all the bossiness to Maul, but he could when the situation demanded it.]
no subject
It might be the first hint that this wasn't totally intentional on his end. He bundles the coat up a bit since Savage was so damn tall.)
Achelliac is the ideal place to get warmed up. Hot springs, hot rooms...hot dudes. There's a theme they've got going. (Savage still might have a point. Traveling to Achelliac might not be worth it until the ice in his hair was properly melted.)
no subject
He approached in his usual looming way, reaching out to pull the coat tight around Dirk but also to hold it closed. Then he raised a brow.] If those pants are wet, you're taking them off now.
[He knew what sort of warmth that Dirk probably needed, but he wasn't going to just let the blond wander off without assurances he wasn't going to continue to be an reckless idiot.] It's also not a stone's throw away either. Thoughts of warm water and hot dudes isn't going to make you shiver less now. Why'd you decide to go in the water without preparation?
no subject
Mmmmmaybe he could wait for the springs. His place was much closer.)
Bro, I am not stripping naked in the cold. I cherish my balls too much to sacrifice them to that kinda abuse. (Even though he already did like five minutes ago.
It's a valid concern. He finally opens his eyes, hidden, but it's clear when he looks up at Savage.)
Fine, damn, dad. We can head to my place until I'm warmed up to your satisfaction. (Then they can hit up the springs. It sounded like a good way to spend the evening. Dirk doesn't fidget, but he does fall suspiciously quiet, thinking over the question and how honest he wanted to be.)
I was sleep flying. I'm trying to find the balance of my dream self and my waking self in this place and I guess I fucked up. (He does not admit this lightly. His voice is flat, but Savage may have spent enough time with Dirk enough by now to pick up on the fact that Dirk had different kinds of flat voices. This one just so happened to be his "I'm not remotely proud of this" flat voice.)

He tightened the coat even more, using his hold to slowly but surely pull Dirk closer to him. Even if it was just a tiny step or two, it was still closer in his books.]
You're in my coat, so you won't be any more cold than you already are. [He then turned his head to pointedly look at the water.] You already abused them going in the water. If you leave them wet, they'll only crawl into your body anyway.
[He snorted like a bull at being called 'dad'. Such an attitude reminded him a touch too close of Feral when being at the worst adolescence stage. Did that mean he was investing some emotion into Dirk the way he only tended to with his Clan or brothers? Don't even think about it.]
Hmm, you probably learned something, so the failure was worthwhile. No one died, and I'll hunt another night. Next time you'll have a higher chance of success. [He wasn't particularly gamely in his words, but it came from experience teaching a few too many kits as well as experiencing his own - usually painful - failures.]
Are you going to walk or do you want me to carry you?
no subject
Savage wasn't half bad at a pep talk. Dirk finds himself comforted, his ego slightly less bruised.)
You are likely correct. (That was how learning went. He just wish he had been a bit more conscious for the experience. He was also admittedly unsettled at losing control over himself like that. It hasn't happened before. He's not sure how to express that concern to Savage just yet, so instead, he puts it on a backburner. He'd figure it out.
At the offer, he smiles, curling his body up into a classic bridal pose and floats right on up against Savage's chest.)
Carry me, obviously. My poor cold feet can't handle the ground. (Yeah they can, but like, it's not every day he gets to have a hot alien carrying him around. He will take advantage of the situation and was fairly sure that Savage would enjoy it just as much.)
no subject
I've failed many times, but I'm still alive. And you technically have a hard time dying. [How was that for a motivational speech? Yeah, he should probably just go back to looming quietly with his arms crossed.
Except soon enough Dirk was filling his arms. He made certain to tuck the excess of his coat down and around to be under the blond's feet so they wouldn't have a chance of being exposed to the cold. Then he bent to collect the pooled sweatpants to carry them as well as he turned and began to head towards Dirk's place. It was closer.]
I know you can fly. You're milking this. [He didn't mind at all. After all, it earned a soft chuff out of him as he walked.]
no subject
This is true. There are things worse than death though. (Like losing control of yourself. Making an absolute jackass out of yourself because you got swindled by corruption without even realizing it. He winds up resting his head on Savage's shoulder, closing his eyes behind his shades, trying to ignore that burning shame.
Savage was right, after all. He didn't die. He learned from this.
It was closer and it was now fully set up. Good for visitors. He snorts, and winds up slipping his arms around Savage's neck, reaching a hand up to rest it against his cheek.)
Absolutely, but you are too. I have a theory that you enjoy carrying me almost as much as I enjoy being carried. (He lets his actual body weight settle into Savage's arms.) The real question though is are you gonna stay for a while?
no subject
There are. I figure this place will eventually make us experience every one of those. [It seemed that this place was probably going to build itself up to be a little like Deerington, not that he had experienced it at its worst. Maul had told him stories, and he was definitely keen to not lose control like how it had been so easy back in that place.] You weren't there for Deerington, but my brother has told me of months were people lost their grip on themselves and reality.
[Thankfully his long strides ate up the ground, not that he expected to stay too long. It wasn't as if they did the whole 'unexpected' drop ins on each other that often.
He barely shifted when the full amount of Dirk's weight settled in his arms. Even for a six-foot tall man with plenty of muscle, it was not a burden for him to carry.]
You're the right size for carrying by me. Any smaller, and I might lose you or fumble you to the ground. [He had been forced to be extra careful when Usagi had been tiny; he thought he could have crushed her accidentally.] What's your definition of awhile currently?
no subject
I can imagine for some of us that will become extremely dangerous. (Meaning people like him. He may as well be a flying nuclear reactor if this place decided to take charge of his head.)
I feel different, Savage. (He admits this quietly, lowly.) My body feels different. Something happened between the corruption and the water. I'm trying to figure out what.
(It was his blood, but he would come to figure that out later. It had changed, and coincidentally, it had wound up giving him more power. Everything was still on lockdown though. He wasn't hyper like he had been the night they went to the Red together. He was calm, thoughtful.)
Even if I was smaller, I have never exactly been fragile. Us clone babies are made of tougher stuff. (He picks his head up to finally look at Maul once again.)
A few hours? Maybe have some food or something with me.
no subject
Probably. We'd probably kill people or at least hurt them. [He shrugged his shoulders like the prospect didn't bother him. He looked down at Dirk swaddled up in his arms.] We're warriors. Things get hurt when we lash out.
[He paused mid-step at the admittance, watching Dirk quietly.] Is it the affects of the moon? You don't have the same energy as when we went out before.
[He didn't know how to help, but that didn't mean that he wouldn't if pointed in the approximate direction. For now, he shuffled Dirk lightly in his arms to keep the blond against his chest. That's what kits liked, and he would do it to his brother too if Maul was upset.]
I've been told that physical and emotional fragility are very different things. I wouldn't know much about that since I'm a tank in all aspects. [Serious? Joking? It could go either way honestly.]
I can stay the night too, if you want.
no subject
He sighs. Again, Savage is correct. An apparent pattern with this guy that Dirk had to respect.)
That will always be the drawback of people like us. (Even when you wanted to keep someone safe. He curls tighter against Savage. He's unfamiliar with the sensation it brings to him. No one has ever made him feel safe before. He only realizes that's the feeling once Savage pulls him closer against his chest. He shuts his eyes, imagining the roar of the ocean, of that solitude he had been raised in.
He wasn't sure if there would ever be enough touching in the world to make up for all those years. He soaks it in now.)
It's possible. I know the moon and blood can be inconsistent.
(He snorts, tipping his head up to look at Savage.)
Bullshit, dude. You and your bro totally have short fuses.
(Everyone had their hang-ups. He stares at Savage a bit longer and then eventually nods.)
I would like that, yes.
no subject
It is, but our strength is our burden as much as it is our boon. We can harm, or we can save. It's about control, don't you think? [Even if that control might slowly be rotted away, or they have a moment of personal weakness.] But when we lash out, it's also the responsibility of the weaker to get out of our way.
[He cradled Dirk to his chest, safe and hopefully warming because of his coat. They were quickly approaching the blond's house, which might mean he had to put Dirk down, not that he would insist on it. As physically aloof as he was in most social situations, he remained very cuddly with those that he considered himself trusting to and for.
He looked down at Dirk and huffed.] Maul has a far shorter fuse than I do. No one here has seen me truly angry yet. I burn harder, longer and far more recklessly. [He wasn't a big planner once he was angry; he tended to tear his enemies apart with overwhelming brute force.
He nodded his head back, shifting Dirk in his arms so the blond was higher on his chest and shoulder where he could hold Dirk with one arm to free up the other for handling doors. This place and not having automatic sliding doors was annoying. Even Dathomir had them.]
We can cuddle you warm again.

If they are weaker, then they should be aware of their own delicate nature. (They're in agreement there. Dirk had little room for compassion in his heart when it came to people. He was far from the traditional hero type.)
Older brothers almost always do. (Himself included. Dave was emotional in other ways, but it was Dirk who was just plain dangerous if he was in a bad mood.)
Mmm. (What did Dirk do when he got angry? Attempted murder, for one. Speak harshly, for another.)
As hot as it would be to see you losing your mind, I hope for your sake it doesn't happen anytime soon. (He means that too.
Dirk doesn't bother to help Savage with the doors. He enjoyed being a brat, especially with Savage, and enjoys watching him struggle a bit. In the meantime, Dirk sits up a bit more in Savage's arms and leans up to kiss the base of one of Savage's horns. Why not make it more difficult...?)
I'd like that. You need to be naked too though or else I'll just feel awkward. (No he won't.)
no subject
[He wasn't that much interested in emotionally brutalizing someone. That wasn't in his nature, and he'd never been particularly adept at it anyway.] Old brothers are responsible for keeping the younger ones in line and out of the way sometimes. [He was in the unique position of being the middle child, so he was both older and younger depending on his kin.
He shouldered his way to the door, getting a hand free to work it open despite Dirk being the opposite of help. He sighed but also didn't complain. Dirk being a pain in the ass sometimes was par for the course.] Why? It isn't like I can kill you if I get angry.
[He was forcing his way in, walking into the place and knew exactly where to go given how often he had been here. He kicked the door closed with a booted foot and he padded his way to Dirk's bedroom. Of course, it was a bit more difficult when he couldn't see that well. This was what it was like dealing with cats, wasn't it?]
No you won't. I don't believe you even know what awkward feels like. [In the bedroom, he moved over to the bed to just release his hold and let Dirk drop unless the blond held onto him then... well, here they were.] I'll be naked because I like sleeping that way and I expect at some point one or both of us is going to want to plow the other.
[Calling it like it was.]
