I can't say it is quite what I was expecting...
[As she starts to record, Padmé offers a gentle smile. There is a quiet calm to her, although any that would know her well knows that it is a countenance that she wears and that within, brews a storm. She is dressed in a manner that is known in her own galaxy but which might well seem a bit strange to others. Yet they are clothing of a style that she dons on a regular basis to Senate meetings- a thick rich layered gown of velvet with an ornate hair piece haloing her head.]
While I'm not certain how long I will remain here, I do admit that I haven't been planet-bound since I was younger, and even then, it was not for long.
[Her voice is soft but also strong and those brown eyes are drawn away from the feed, regarding the sky for a moment. It is an atmosphere that holds no meaning to her, at least as its stands, but there are some things in this place that she can understand, that are universal no matter where one is. She does begin to speak again, her focus still out there on that great unknown, wondering just what lays beyond... Yet her gaze is drawn back and she gives a little nod of her head, before making eye contact again.]
My name is Padmé Amidala, a Senator for the planet of Naboo, and I offer a greeting. It seems, if I am to understand this correctly, that we are all here by the same means, caught in the same situation. As it seems I may well be here for some time, I would be interested to hear more about the places you call home, for any willing to share.
[There is a genuine warmth in her voice and her smile grows ever so. The situation may be foreign, but she can find some common ground to begin with while remaining true to herself. The rest... She will with piece by piece.]
I would, of course, speak of my own as well, for those who wished to hear of it. I am curious to see just how far a reach this place has, and whether Naboo or Coruscant or even any of the other planets that make up the Galactic Republic are known to anyone here.

I do truly hope that those who do find themselves in such a state do have someone to aid them.

Me too.
[Then his expression falls a little.] You may hear something about a huge beast that came from the ocean last month. I tried to reach out to it with - with my Jedi abilities. It didn't really work. I mean, I kinda made the connection itself, but I couldn't get to listen, or calm down, or turn back.
[He looks down.] It seems pretty determined to tear through people. And now it's dead.

None of the Jedi could do anything for it?

Obi-Wan and I tried, but the Chancellor did not agree, believing its death was for the greater good. It may well have been the last of its kind.

[His gaze shifts off to the side nervously.]
That...tracks.
[Genocide, maybe some casual cruelty, and Palpatine. Yes, he can very much believe that's how it went down.]
no subject
[Rueful. There had been some argument, but it hadn't tracked for Padmé.]
no subject
I believe that. From what I can tell, Palpatine is great at the manipulation game, when he bothers to make the effort. Maybe especially at twisting people's best intentions.

I wasn't going to just forget everything done under his orders, in my lifetime.

[Before he revealed himself? Whether knowing him through word of mouth during that time or otherwise.]

I was born at the end of the Clone Wars. To me, Palpatine has always been the Emperor.
I only spoke to him personally the one time, via holocall, after surviving enough of those who obey him to be slightly interesting or annoying, I guess. Or maybe he just needed a force sensitive attuned to the temple ruins in Lothal. I'm not sure. I was 18. I just turned 19 last month.
But - you knew him for a long time, right?
>Private
There's eight years between us.
[Off-hand, although those eight years may well be eight decades.]
I did. From a young age I was involved in politics. Apprentice Legislature and the the Legislative Youth Program. Princess of Theed. Queen of Naboo. Then Senator. He'd always been a pillar of the planet. Someone you could turn to to ask for advice.

I'm sorry - I definitely..I can't imagine someone you've known personally that long, and trusted-
[How badly could that shake someone's trust in their own judgement? In other people they trusted?]

[And that she never even had a clue.]

[Because generations seems to imply he would be a lot older than she thought, which... He has a history on Naboo.
Or was that fake?]

[And, as he's pretty sure, that power of the Dark Side is part of why Anakin survived Mustafar.]
If you want to ask Maul about it, he might know.

I don't think he has many qualms about lying if it gets him something, no. And then there's just...sorting through skewed perspective.
He hates Palpatine, though.

[At least the good ones. There are those who are bought or sell themselves for coin or other items.]
I suppose anyone in their right mind would.

With Maul, it's very personal.

Wait, what do you mean, specifically?
