005 Video; UN: Filledwithsunshine

[It's not entirely obvious when Snow White starts up the video, just how much pain she is in. She's still smiling but it's a bit more subdued. She's even paler (somehow) than she usually is. She also has a bandage on her neck. Her animal friends around her are deeply concerned, watching her carefully and Faramund, her giant stag is staying pressed against her side as if supporting her to stay upright.]

Why hello everyone!

My goodness, wasn't that jungle such an interesting place! I've never seen some of the animals there before! They were so nice, though. [Snow had struggled in the jungle not because of the animals but because of the pain she's currently in just for existing. But her pain tolerance, despite her appearance, is ridiculously high.]

Oh, but! That isn't why I'm speaking with you all.

I'm sure we've all noticed those terribly large blood boils coming up all over the place. And while the bloodhounds are doing a marvelous job getting rid of them, well there is just SO many of them the poor things can't get to all of them. Not that they don't try, of course. [Snow being Snow is yes, slowly befriending them.]

So, I'm going to tell you how I get blood out of clothing! And walls, and floors, and furniture, and windows, and really anything else! Especially since the blood splatters don't smell very nice. [That's one way of putting it.]

Thankfully, getting blood off the walls and floor are the easiest to clean with a good strong brush and bucket of scented soap! But I do know the rest can be very tricky.

So if you would like any help, please let me know. Blood in on fabriced furniture can be especially tricky.

[Poor Luz had no idea how bad the pain was, but knowing that it was bad? That was enough to get her here.

The bear was a surprise of course, but of course Luz was going to regard to bear with respect, and then overhear Snow White].

Thanks Bernard. Hey Snow! I brought a care package! I'm just going to follow the sound of your voice, ok?

[Luz was not going to begrudge her friend sitting right now. She did say she was in pain, and since she hadn't talked to Korra yet she didn't realize this was related to blood. After forcing herself not to pet any of the animals, Luz made her way over to Snow].

I'm here! Hi Snow! Your place is great, by the way!

[Very rustic]!

All right! So! What do you need to do? I've got you covered!
imaglyphwitch: (I'm gonna do it!)

Of course you do! Not surprised by that at all!

[Luz knew her fairy tales. She really wasn't].

No, no, I don't mean covered physically, I just mean that I'll take care of anything you need!

Sure, of course! I will peel SO many potatoes. I used to help my mom do that back home, actually!

Were you thinking of making a stew?

Not at all! You shouldn't have to deal with this by yourself if you have friends, you know! It's OK to rely on us a little!

[Luz didn't like burdening people herself, but even she knew that there were times she had to relent and let people take care of her. Her recent corruption episode was certainly one of those times].

Right, yeah! In my time, you do the prep and then put it in something called a crock pot! Basically you pop the lid on, set the timer on high or low, and it basically cooks itself!

Heh, don't worry about it! And you kick me out whenever you want me to scamper off, OK?

[It would have been hard to explain to Luz: since coming to Deerington, Eda had been there, and by the time Eda had "woken up" there were other people who had opted to look after Luz. Granted, this hadn't prevented Luz feeling alone for a little while when Eda was gone, but she'd never been truly alone.

She was always grateful for that, and hoped that Snow wouldn't have to go through Trench by herself, especially when it got really bad].

Oh, I wouldn't say that! It's like when you have to have something stay in the pot, like a stew! You still have to do the prep and the stir and everything, but after a while you have to leave it alone to let it cook right? That's what the crock pot does: it keeps the heat at a setting where you can let it do it's thing. It won't make it for you!

[After all, her mother had certainly needed to utilize the crockpot when she became a single parent: it had been pretty essential].

A pie made by birds? Yes please!

[She was going to assume it wasn't worm pie or anything weird like that. This wasn't a cartoon, after all].

You know, I guess I never thought about it that way! The last time I had to do something like that was when I visited D.R. with my parents and stayed with some relatives! They kinda live in the boonies, so we just went with it.

Man. I wish I had bird bakers. No offense, Owlbert.

[None was taken, because Owlbert chattered back pretty happily. Clearly the owl knew its strengths, and baking pies was not it: being a helpful Palisman was].

Right, I'm using slang again, I'm sorry! I'm from Connecticut, a place in America, but my family are from the Dominican Republic, a place in South America. That's where some of my extended family still live today. When I say "boonies," or when anyone usually does, it's basically slang for a place that's sort of the middle of nowhere. Usually that means they don't have easily accessible technology like the internet or cable TV.

[Not that cable television really meant much these days].

[personal profile] imaglyphwitch 2022-05-02 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Luz knew she was being confusing here, and she had to remind herself not to throw slang at Snow too flippantly: she wasn't going to know what that meant, and really, that was not her fault].

I mean, you lived in a castle though, right? I wouldn't exactly say YOU were from there. Your dwarven friends likely lived in the countryside though. Also, internet and television wouldn't apply anyway, since that didn't exist in your time!

Would you want to try and see what they do now?

A lot of things have changed, yes. Now there are rules for just about anyplace and anywhere. I think some things were much simpler during your time.

[Were they better? That was debatable].

Yeah. I mean, I can show you as far as this place allows, of course. It has its own drawbacks.

Oh, great! I have no idea who showed them to you, but good on them!

I promise, I will not steer you wrong!

[That mean she might have to put a child block on though. Way too easy to find "unsavory" things on the internet].
imaglyphwitch: (O MAN I MESSED UP)

[personal profile] imaglyphwitch 2022-05-11 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Heh. Yeah. I...remember her.

[It was sad, honestly, that the Arcade she loved so much was where Jennifer used to host her movie nights. The ones meant for kids, a place for them to relax and not have to worry about anything. Jennifer had been rough and scary and ate people, but Luz couldn't help but still see her intentions].

You're right, I am being silly. Heck, I know I can stream you some great animal documentaries!

[Luz. USE. REGULAR. WORDS].

I mean, um, forget that word. I'll just show you how to access them directly, ok? We can catch you up on the terminology later.
