Stanley's gone back to the sea. I don't think he'll be returning any time soon.
The Murder Hut will be closed until further notice. If you pre-purchased tickets you can take a raincheck, but there's no refunds.
[ It's kind of a joke, see, because if Stan comes back and finds out his family gave money away he'll be so offended he'll probably walk right back into the ocean. ]
If you had any other unfinished business with him, let me know. I'll do what I can to settle it.

[And so it comes to this: What Would Oscar Vessalius Do? This is quite possibly the least surprising realization Break has ever had. No one is better at sad kids than Uncle Oscar. Break will simply have to do his best.]
It might take me a little bit, but I should be able to come up with something. Having seen a couple of his network posts, I imagine they'll be inundated with others over these next few days anyway.
[When the initial flood of sympathies has ebbed, Break will step in and take over.]

[ That's something shared between all of them. They have their favored hobbies and leisure activities, but when they're truly distressed they need something concrete to work towards. He's kind of proud of himself for being able to articulate that point.
But it sounds like that's what Break is offering, so rather than belabor the point: ]
I appreciate your offer. Dipper's quite adept at handling supernatural issues, but if you ever encounter something beyond his expertise you're welcome to contact me.

Being that Break is a sneaky person, he will simply steer the conversation towards that possibility, rather than making another overt offer. It's not as though he's friends with this guy or anything. But the better the uncle is doing the better the kids will do too, and besides, the first thing that comes to mind is something that will probably benefit him, too.]
I will keep this in mind. He has helped me to translate the odd spell or two from home in addition to the ghost business, and it has been of great help. However, increasingly, my own supernatural problems have to do with darkblood nonsense.

What sort of nonsense? I'm a Darkblood myself, so I may be able to help.

A full explanation would be very long. For the moment, suffice to say, my power has caused me harm in the past without my realizing it, and I am concerned that if I don't learn to fully control it that will extend to others. That I was unaware I was doing anything at all, even when it was to my own self, troubles me a great deal.
Unfortunately, though I am canny enough to follow directions if given a simple spell to do, for the most part I am merely a swordsman. I know nothing of any kind of theory, and everything I've been successful at thus far has been done on instinct alone or with someone talking me through things. For that reason I would like to learn from as many darkbloods who have real experience with magic as possible.
As things stand, I don't even know for sure what I'm capable of. Though, I am able to conjure a neat sword these days.
It is purple.

Simply mastering conscious control over your blood powers can go a long way towards helping you master subconscious control as well.
Have you noticed any patterns in the types of changes you tend to cause?

[This, at least, he has caught on to. Hard not to, when he was blind simply because he expected to be and all of his easiest tricks are based in beloved memory. What to do about it still escapes him. Although he's used a power that was only his a few times, he has far more experience directing Chains to grant him theirs, and it isn't quite the same.]
I'm certain there must be a proper way to practice that conscious control specific to magic, right? To simply say "just practice" feels like swinging a blade about willy-nilly and hoping it hits something.

[ He may have, in fact, nearly destroyed his workshop with his coffee bean replication spell before he ironed that part out. ]
Since you can already conjure roses, I would suggest you work on honing that as a means of practice. If you aren't already familiar, take the time to closely study the anatomy and life cycle of a rose, then try some of the following:
- Conjure each part of the rose individually
- Give any rose you create a few petals that are colored differently from the rest, and try to increase the number of differently colored petals over time
- Start with conjuring a seed and try to force it to sprout, grow, and bloom over the course of a few minutes
That should help you find the limits of your own skills, and discover how exactly your powers interact with your surroundings.

That is
Far more straightforward than I was anticipating.
[He can't even feel silly for asking such an amateurish question when Ford's answer is so thorough, here. Even if Break had gone the obvious route of starting simple and small, it never would have crossed his mind to look into what makes a rose the way it is, or to start with a seed and walk it through a whole growth cycle. But that does make good sense, doesn't it? If what Break can conjure so far is what is most familiar to him, the answer, then, is to become more familiar with many more things.
Hm.]
You have my thanks for this starting point, Mr. Pines. I imagine if I inadvertently stuff my parlor full of roses you will hear about it from young Dipper.
(If we are being honest, my house is already full of teacups.)

Feel free to ask if you'd like any further guidance - and I'd appreciate if you could send any particularly strange creations home with Dipper.

[And he does, of course -- but more importantly, he also picks up a habit of taking pictures of his weird little darkblood experiments and sending them to Ford directly, often at bizarre hours in the middle of the night because he knows how these kinds of people work. Break isn't friends with this man, and doesn't care to overstep that. But he can give him something to engage with sometimes when things are very quiet, and Break has lived through enough long, lonely nights of his own to know exactly how much easier it can be to ride it all out until sunrise when one can find other thoughts to think in the dark.]
