[since her last video sansa has created a backdrop featuring several ravens surrounding a weirwood tree to match the one in her window. she has also acquired a blood hound, who wears a tan leather harness intricately carved with weirwood branches resembling antlers. it says 'knight.' lady is also in frame, on her other side. she wears a collar embroidered with grey velvet scales to match sansa's grey linen and scale mail dress. a black batkitten and white raven might be occasionally glimpsed wheeling around overhead. her hair is only half up, braided back and tied, and it is possible to discern its vivid shade of red.]
Hallo, for those of you that don't know me, I'm called Alayne Stone. [for now.] A blood hound has recently come into my care and I've since discovered he is capable of pulling the corruption from the blood of people just as well as he pulls pollution from the blood in the ground. As the blood blisters seem to be decreasing in number of late I would ask that anyone suffering from corruption visit us, or tell me where you are so that I might bring him to you, as he doesn't seem to eat anything else. You might ask the lantern imps for the Rookery, or seek out the weirwood in Cellar Door.
[you will find a banner in another window with a handsome portrait of knight and the pronouncement 'blood hound cleanses your blood of corruption free of charge.']
I believe this could be a great help in maintaining the health of our city. He's called Knight, and he is not very friendly, but I promise you he won't bite.
[she furrows her brow, trying not to frown overmuch.]
Is it...usual here, for the sun not to rise?
[the weather is definitely getting warmer, despite the lack of sunlight, but it is concerning. even if it is not the long night, it seems like this would be bad for the crops? she doesn't want to be the one to bring up rations, but they are already on her mind.]

But it was not like that for now, hopefully.]
It is good of you to offer those services, and that's a power to make careful and good use of. Just don't overtax yourself. I hope it doesn't put you at any risk, Miss Stone. I am Vira-Lorr. My home and shop is along the edge of the Cellar Door, should you ever need a fortune told.
...though this consult is free. It is not usual, and it most likely means something, which we will learn very soon.
no subject
Thank you, Lady Vira-Lorr. May I ask if the crops will be much affected? I would be glad to come by with a bloodstone or trinket in exchange for further consult.
[though perhaps food might be more valuable. but she must see to her own stock first.]

[Pthumerian Blood was ... she wasn't sure what to do with the dose she'd 'won' in the games quite yet, though she had ideas. She folded her arms and closed all three eyes for a moment. there was a concerned look on her face before she finally sighed.]
The moon herself is beneficial, in as far as she thinks she is helping the people of this world. I don't think it will affect the crops. Her magic will probably help, though it does likely mean that some sort of magical effect is on the city for the moment, one that draws more heavily from her magic.

I'm Ruby Rose. I'm a bit of a long time resident here at this point. I can't say I've seen this happen in Trench. But I was around when it happened twice back in the dream. Once with day and once with night. Both lasted the whole month and were particularly terrible times.
The best I can say is it might be best to stay on your guard throughout this.

It's good to meet you, Ruby Rose. There's an old story where I come from, about a night that lasted many years. It ended only in a battle with an ancient evil. Of course, nobody knows anymore if the story is true.
[a month isn't so very long for a siege. but she had been in the red keep in the siege of king's landing, and she had always had enough to eat, whatever else she'd had to endure.]
I suppose I should see about more leather for armor.

no one said much about what happened after the credits rolled. that's why she liked tumblr and AO3]
Hi, Alayne! [Lexi waves enthusiastically] Wow. And let me say again, wow. You've really established yourself here already. [a small laugh] I'm kinda jealous, only not really. [liar] It's really something, to do something about the blood blisters and all of the corruption, that's impressive. [and she smiles warmly] And Lady has her Knight.
How did you get a blood hound? I kinda wanted one, but I've never had pets before. My mom was allergic. How does the whole process work?
And...your guess is as good as mine?
[she's smart enough to realize that the warm moisture will make the mushrooms grow like crazy, even though other crops are going to be screwed. she's not opposed to mushrooms, but she knows that mushrooms can be an acquired taste. what she wouldn't give to find portobellos growing somewhere]

I'm afraid Lady did most of the work. He kept following her around, so I had to show him how to behave around people, and say when he's hungry so I can take him out to eat. As I said, he's not very friendly. You can pet him a little if he sniffs your hand, but the batcats are much nicer. I think Lady Edythe might still have a few kittens left.
(CW: uncouth dog behavior)
That's because Lady is a good girl. I shouldn't be surprised that she'd bring in someone else. And, uh, sniffing my hand, yeah, I've done that before. [far preferable to getting a nose in the crotch] And, oh, wow. A little batcat of my own? I am so down for that, let me get dressed and I'll come over to your place, okay?

As others have said, it's likely we will find out what it means soon. To that end, I have corruption I can give to your hound. [The shifted view doesn't take away from the knife on the anvil. He turns it with his tongs, and leaves it there for the moment. The metal still hot.]

I've only been here half a year, but this is the first time the sun hasn't come up. Things seem to happen for a month or a couple months here, so I bet it's not going to come back until at least next month, if not even longer.

The last time the sun failed to rise in Deerington, it was an entire month of sleeplessness and the town's negative effects at their very worst.
This already seems less dramatic, but I would be cautious and stockpile food and clean water regardless.
no subject
Well, I can tell you the sun didn't come up yesterday, and I slept for most of it.
[thanks to her very first encounter with tequila.]
There must be a way of stockpiling food and water for the whole city. There will be riots if some people can eat while other people are starving.
[it was easier to keep these memories at bay when she was being alayne properly, but if there's to be anything like a long night here she must think like a stark of winterfell. she sighs.]
I don't suppose there's any good place here to dig a well.
[it would probably come up blood.]

[ Maybe it's a little too formal compared to the usual standard on this network, but Chizuru can't help but start her message that way all the same. It's just too deeply rooted within her, that politeness - and even moreso when Sansa seems really kind, to share all of this with the entire population. ]
Are you sure that blood hound won't be dangerous for you? As you said.. they don't seem very friendly. [ To put it mildly, after Chizuru's previous encounter with one. ] It sounds amazing if they could really be such a help to us, but they also seem.. um, a little scary.
no subject
Thank you for your concern, my lady, but he minds Lady very well, and poses no greater threat than any other hunting hound. Lady will be with us, when we attend to those suffering from corruption, and she will allow no harm to come to me or anyone under my care.
[right now she is roughly the same size as the dog, but soon she will be bigger, and she is very fast. besides, knight likes her very much.]
If you approach him with respect, and allow none of your fear to show, he'll see no reason to fear you in kind, and he won't hurt you. He's chosen to be here with us.

Hm, I hope this is not a terribly odd request, but I have been studying ways to purify corruption. Would it be possible for you to record the process of your hound doing so? Any data at all would be welcome, in truth.

If we are not so far up north, I would call it unusual anywhere, for the sun not to rise.
Knight will be of great use, child. The air is thick and putrid with corruption. It would not surprise me if that is part of why Trench lacks its sunlight.
no subject
That is a beautiful trick you've done, with your words!
I don't know how far we are to the north, as I've only ever seen maps of the city. There doesn't seem to be much around it. And I've only ever heard that the Long Night comes in winter, but it still feels like Spring. Knight can't seem to draw the corruption out of the air or ground by himself, I believe it is thinly dispersed, like water. And I couldn't manage any more blood hounds! But he will be a great help to the people here, if they come to us.

He doesn't even care that he's showing his face. He's too groggy to bother with texting right now. So, sorry, Sansa, have a troll with some gnarly looking fangs and kinda demonic-looking. Whatever.)
The fuck do you mean no sun? (His voice is incredibly rough, but despite the swearing, there's actually no aggression in his tone.)
