Hello. Again. [ Oof, okay, not the strongest start. ] I'm Anakin Solo, a knight of the Jedi Order, at your service. I sort of remember being here before, and I wanted to thank everyone who helped me out.

They offered me a bed at the orphanage, but I don't want to take it from someone who might need it.
How does housing work here, exactly? I don't mind sleeping outside, but that doesn't seem wise in the long run.

[ A pause. ]

By the way, I don't remember the sky being like this before-- is this normal? As normal as anything is here, I mean.

[ Another pause. He's clearly not in his element. ]

[ He's never met anyone who doesn't know what a Jedi is. People who have never met one, sure. They're not exactly the presence they used to be. ]

Nice to meet you, Kokichi. The Jedi are Force-sensitives who follow the ancient traditions of the Jedi Order. Doing good deeds is one of them, so at least I have some experience there.

[ Anakin takes a deep breath. He had a feeling this wasn't good. ]

I'll find a place. Did the sky change recently? Is there any precedent for it?

[ He'll find a place but he has no intention of hunkering down and riding it out. ]

I guess I should mention I'm from another dimension, so literally none of those things exist here, but I get that you're one for doing good deeds.

[He hums, tilting his head.]

Yeah. It was clear back in March. Now it's April and according to other people, this is how the sky looked in October. That was when beasts started roaming the streets and all the water taps turned into blood and all kinds of gruesome stuff. I didn't see it happen since I just got here in March, but the people that did have the sincerity going for them of people who are absolutely scarred from it...

...So, y'know. Be careful.

[ He wasn't expecting to hear that, of course, but he does have experience with probably the weirdest stuff the universe can throw at someone.

And then Kokichi starts describing what to look out for. He takes a deep breath. ]

Thanks for the heads-up. Do you know if there's some kind of coordinated defense force? I'm good in a fight, if I need to be.

[violetlies]

No problem. And, uh, I think there are these things called hunters? I'm more brains than brawn so I'm not the guy to ask for that. But you ask around and you'll probably find a qualified answer.

Just don't get yourself hurt trying to play hero, yeah? I'd hate to think I encouraged that from anyone. No matter how capable you are, things are different here.

A "hunter" doesn't sound like a good fit for me, but thanks for the info.

[ Anakin smiles, even though Kokichi can't see it. ]

[ Hmm. ]

How are things different? I read the notes that were in my journal, but I get the feeling they don't tell the whole story.

You and me both, pal. Nee-hee-hee.

[He can kind of hear the smile in the guy's voice. There's a certain cadence to it. Which is nice.]

Hmmm. Well. There's the fact that everyone's abilities, no matter what they are, are weakened. I came here as a normal guy with no powers, buuuut now I've got blood powers. Which is neat. Thanks to the Ptumerians.

There's also the fact that random crap just seems to kinda happen here. Last month we were all trapped in a jungle and then some catacombs because one of 'em thought dropping us in there would be fun.

[ Anakin hums thoughtfully. ]

So the prevailing theory is that the Ptumerians are essentially the ruling forces of this world?

[ He'll have to dig into the ritual and lore aspects of the Trench, but it's nice get a head start. ]

That's what I can gather, at least. If anyone finds out otherwise, I'd love to hear it. They give out the powers, they brought us here - one of them did, at least, and they're limiting our own abilities, so they're pretty much our overlords whether we like it or not.

I'm personally not entirely a fan, but I haven't spoken to any of 'em. So. Who can say?

[ Anakin turns the information over in his mind. He doesn't have enough empirical data to draw his own conclusions, but the observations and opinions of people who have been here longer than he has are valuable as well. ]

You said "one of them" brought us here? Do you know which one?

According to everything I've read...that would be Mariana.

Supposedly the Patron Pthumerian of the Unknown and the patron of anyone with their blessed day in August. She's supposed to be the most unpredictable out of all of them. Like a force of nature. It's hard to say if anyone like that is worth trusting, but I don't dislike beings like that. It's beings running on instinct, and instinct is more predictable than built-up biases and perceptions of the world.

Still. No one can imagine why. Maybe it was to save some of us. To help. Or maybe it was just a whim. Who knows.

[ Anakin listens with interest. He has no real intention of trusting any of the Patron Ptumerians. Getting an answer out of this Mariana sounds difficult, but it might be worth doing. If he was pulled away from what he was doing just on a whim, that'll be hard to swallow. If it was to save him, why only him?

Maybe she needs something. He feels a shiver run down his spine. Most of the time when people go out of the way to capture him, they're interested in his strength in the Force.

His feels a headache coming on, and the fogginess in his mind gets more intense. ]

Maybe she needs something from us. Something a Pthumerian can't do on their own.

[violetlies]

[The thoughts of 'needing something from us' and 'something Pthumerian can't do on their own' conjure up some decidedly grim imagery in Kokichi's mind.]

...If that could be, I don't know what it is.
But if you figure it out, Solo-chan, I'd love for you to tell me sometime.

[ Ruefully: ] I'll keep everyone in the loop. If I ever run into a viable theory that isn't just me jumping to wild conclusions. My mind sometimes get stuck in problem-solving mode.

[ He's so caught up in solving a "problem" that he's just started putting together scraps of theories and thin strings of information.

It's better than dwelling on how he's here for the foreseeable future. ]

Neeheehee...that sounds like a friend of mine back home. [Shuichi. It sounds like Shuichi.] I'll tell you what I would've told him - don't forget to see the forest for the trees, don't do anything reckless...and be careful who you put your trust into.
