[ There's a faint sound of wind in the background of his broadcast, as if he's sitting somewhere up high. ]

Hello. Again. [ Oof, okay, not the strongest start. ] I'm Anakin Solo, a knight of the Jedi Order, at your service. I sort of remember being here before, and I wanted to thank everyone who helped me out.

They offered me a bed at the orphanage, but I don't want to take it from someone who might need it.
How does housing work here, exactly? I don't mind sleeping outside, but that doesn't seem wise in the long run.

[ A pause. ]

By the way, I don't remember the sky being like this before-- is this normal? As normal as anything is here, I mean.

[ Another pause. He's clearly not in his element. ]

Thanks again.

[ The feed ends. ]

[ Anakin observes her closely. She does look a lot like Padmé but her mannerisms and tone of voice are clearly different. She's clearly uncertain, and he can only imagine why. Something about his name, given that she focuses on that instead of on him being a Jedi.

He's polite enough to sigh before turning on the feed. ]

No, it's not that common. I was actually named for Anakin Skywalker.

[ In an attempt to joke: ] Being a Jedi is just a coincidence.

[Wow. The people from this universe just keep getting more and more confusing.]

I understand that among Humans, it's common to name a child after someone else.

Usually someone important to the child's parents?

That's right.

[ "Humans"? She looks nearly identical to a human, which makes him wonder if she's in disguise. But if she is, she wouldn't have outed herself as a non-human.

Anakin pulls himself to the present. He's overthinking. Maybe his brain is overheating at this point. ]

He saved someone important to my mother. She said my name reminds her to have hope, even when things seem bleak.

[ Which is the truth, just not the entire truth. ]

Really?

[Anakin Skywalker did something that didn't completely suck? That's a refreshing change from Ariadne's experiences, recently.

She manages a smile. A genuine, sweet smile that makes her eyes gleam a little like silver coins in a fountain.]

Well, that's a good reason to pick that name, I suppose.

You must be new to Trench. I'd have remembered another Jedi.

[ Her smile is the first thing that actually reminds him strongly of Padmé. It's bright and warm and feels a little like a gift. ]

I think so too.

[ He has some complicated feelings about being named after the man who had been Vader, but he's old enough to have made it his own. To have turned it from a source of uncertainty into the gift it was meant to be. ]

I was here for a few hours awhile back, but I must have returned to the ocean.

It feels a little more permanent this time.

That can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your point of view.

[She shrugs.]

I sort of like it here. It's free.

[The only siege being the gods, but she can live with that.]

And you meet such interesting people! I mean, there's no such thing as "Jedi" where I come from. But I know quite a few and I like almost all of them.

I guess I'll try to keep my view on the more positive side of things.

[ Dwelling on the negative won't do him any good. Assessing the situation for what it is and hoping he inherited some of his dad's luck is probably a good start.

He files away her saying it's "free." He wonders about it, but perhaps it's something left for a time when they know each other better. ]

Hopefully I'll make a good impression. It's easier to help people when they trust you, after all.

It probably also helps when you remember your manners, which it seems I've forgotten.

[Ariadne bows her head.]

My name is Airy. Well, actually, it's "Ariadne," but no one calls me that.

[And no wonder, really. There's something about her--the way she talks, the way she moves, the way she laughs--that just suggests that gravity is only barely holding her down.

She's light and...well...airy.]

It's alright-- I don't really stand on ceremony.

[ If Threepio had his way, he would. Alas, not even a determined protocol droid can force him to behave "properly." ]

Do you prefer to be called Airy?

I think so. It's like...I have the name I was given. And then the name I earned. At least, I think I earned it. I'm sure it must come from a place of affection.

[But what does she know? Humanoids have a lot of funny rituals around names.]

[ He hums thoughtfully. ]

I understand what you mean. I'll call you Airy, then, if that's okay.

[ They're all here for an indeterminable amount of time-- there's no need for too much formality. ]

Perfectly, okay.

[A bit uncertainly:]

And you're Anakin Solo.

That's right. I guess two Anakins is going to get confusing, but I don't have any other name.

Solo...

[A brief pause.]

Why does that sound familiar?

[She's running through the catalog of all of Luke's stories now. But she can't quite place it.]

[ His family is famous, though only in his home galaxy. Still, if Luke is here, she may have heard of him that way. ]

Maybe you heard about my dad, Han Solo?

Yes!

[A pause.]

Maybe…

Did he know someone named Luke Skywalker?

They've been close friends since before I was born.

[ In addition to, you know, Luke also being his brother-in-law. ]

That must be it then.

Luke has told me quite a few stories about his misadventures. I suppose some of them must have included your father!

[She looks genuinely delighted by this. For such a big universe, everyone in it seems to be connected.]

[ He lets out a quiet laugh. ]

I'm sure a lot of them did. Both of them are pretty good at getting in trouble, if the stories I've heard are true.

[ And they are, even if he imagines they're embellished in places. ]

I'd say "trouble" is a matter of perspective. To me, I think...heroes. Unlucky heroes. But heroes, nevertheless.

[She laughs.]

Or maybe that's just what Luke wants me to think.

[ Warmly: ] No, they're definitely heroes. They both risk their lives to help people, like it's second nature for them.

[ Granted, it's more natural for Luke than for his father, but is father picked up on the habit pretty quickly. As if he'd had it the whole time and just buried it to survive. ]

Well. I'll have to ask for some of your stories, sometime.

[She does love her stories.]

I have a garden in the Willful Machine. Open to the public. It's called "Serenity." Maybe you'd like to visit sometime?

Oh, uh, yeah. [ He'll have to think of good ones that won't hurt to tell.

He perks up slightly at the mention of a garden. ]

I'd be happy to.

[ Spending time surrounded by the Living Force sounds nice. Maybe it'll help him clear some of the fog out of his mind. Re-balance himself. ]

I look forward to it!

[She laughs brightly.]

At least until I scare you away with a million questions.

[ It makes him think of Tahiri when they were both younger. Talkative and as bright as the binary suns. It gives him a bittersweet feeling. ]

I don't mind. I'll answer whatever questions I can.
