Hello, Trench! Boy, that's a fun name for a city, isn't it? Trrrrrrench. Sounds...about like what it is, I guess.

So! [He claps his hands together.] Who's here from Deerington? Man, it must've been at least a century since I saw you guys! How's it been? Oh - oh, and look! Eleanor made it too!

[He reaches off-screen to fling his arm around the neck of what, when he pulls it over in front of the camera, proves to be an enormous dappled grey Warg. Her teeth are huge. She's still wearing her enchanted leather war-armor, which really just makes the optics here worse.]

This is my dog, Eleanor! Also, I'm Michael, for all the new folks. I was in the nightmare city before this one, and then I went home for a little bit.

So - what's everyone up to? And what's with the new phones? Are we all using weird, smoky first-generation birds as phones now?

Hi! She is, isn't she? I had no idea if she'd still be around when I got back! [sigh] I would've taken her with me, but you know. The afterlife.

[He isn't even sure how or if that would work?]

I suppose that is fair. Though admittedly I don't truly understand the rules of your form of the afterlife.

[But maybe that was for the better. It seemed less wild and untamed than what he'd always imagined it to be, demons included.]

My own pets came here with me as well. I admit, I'm very glad to have them here.

That's good. I left Eleanor with Amara, but I haven't...seen her around yet.

[Ah. He understands. In spite of himself, he wears a pained, empathetic look.]

It has been interesting to see who is here and who isn't. People may still yet be arriving.

Yeah, that's true. Can't imagine all the squids are the strongest swimmers - some of 'em were pretty tiny.

Exactly. Besides, some of the bigger squids might have taken up space in their rush to shore. The little ones need time to make their own way through.

Oh, that's true. Some of them were awfully tiny! I didn't even realize they came that small!

Oh, squids can be marvelously small. I believe some of the smallest are no more than 10 millimeters big -- it would be rather dreadful to swim all that way at that size!

Geez. Why are things even that small?

[He feels like he's compressed himself down quite a bit already; his length is usually measured in thousands of miles! Lucky he didn't end up even smaller than this.]

Who knows? Nature is mysterious, and the ocean especially so.

And, well, oceans leading to places of poisonous blood even more so, I suppose.
