[Luca and Ahiru of the house might have noticed Luz was gone all day, as were Varian, Rapunzel and Fern, and there were none the wiser about why. The three of them honestly tended to do their own thing, but this time was different. Luz returned later, closing the door behind her, and had stayed up in her room for several hours. Luca and Ahiru were likely to feel the distress in Luz now though, and while Ahiru wouldn't know why, Luca WOULD.

And now, Luz knew, she'd have to let the rest of Trench know.

[Late at night, the video feed clicked and there was Luz. Her eyes were rimmed red, she was slightly shaking and she was surrounded by the stuffed animals in her room. She looked at the camera for at least a minute before finally addressing the audience as a whole].

If you guys knew Rapunzel, I'm sad to say she's gone back to being a squid. She was pretty great, looking after us in the house and everything, and we're going to try and keep her tower spotless. She would have wanted it that way.

[She bit her lip, exhaling].

V-Varian and Fern are also gone.

They've...gone back too. I know a lot of you knew them from Deerington. In a lot of ways, they're why I chose to go to move onto the next world. Fern was cunning, quick and upfront about himself. He put himself out on a limb to save people, and was the model of a hero I think we all strive to be.

Varian was different, but in his own unique way. He was stubborn, smart, and one of the sweetest people I know. He'd come up with inventions I could only watch in awe of, and he'd work tirelessly on projects with strength I could never match. He and Fern were my older brothers, and the reason I live in this house now.


They mattered, just like everyone who leaves matters, and leave a mark when they go. If I ever ask myself why I'm here, suffering, I'll remember it's because of them, because they were everything that helped me move on from one bad moment to better ones.

[Luz nodded glumly].

No, I haven't. Not for a lack of trying either: people keep trying to get me to eat!

So long as you eat one a day I won't get on your case. That's why I brought soup: easy to heat, easy to eat.

I'm gonna guess you're sleeping like shit, too.

That's good. I can work with that. [Soup was easy and nutritious. It didn't feel too heavy to go into her stomach].

I have NOT been sleeping great, no. Which is weird, since I keep crying myself to sleep the past few days. But they've not been good.

Cool.

Yeah. Yeah, that's normal. I wish I had a cure, dude, but it really is just time.

No, I know. This isn't the first time.

But happening again, and with it being them, it hurts. They helped me out of my funk the first time it happened.

Well. Nobody can replace them. But you've go tother friends, too, who care about you.

Other friends and family in the house, actually.

Which reminds me. Have to make sure that Reaper knows.

I'm sure he's seen by now.

You want some tea?

Hopefully.

Actually, yeah. I could use some tea.

Okay, you sit down, I'll put all this food away and get the kettle on.

[He has a very Big Brother tone.]

[Luz had lost TWO, so gaining a new one was a little comfort].

Some Chamomile would be great.

[kyley_b]

Coming right up. You just chill. [He smiles.] Hug the bunny or whatever.

[Luz WILL hug the bunny, thank you. It's been a pretty rough day, and she just felt pretty tired].

[Kyle makes the tea and brings Luz a mug, careful not to startle her. She needs rest, and he's hoping having something warm and a friendly face around might help.]

[Luz takes a long sip, then looked up at Kyle].

Thanks. I'm sorry I'm not better company right now.

You absolutely do not need to worry about that right now. You just like... you don't have to talk, or do anything.

Kyle. That is definitely not me.

[Normally it wasn't, anyway. Luz was much quieter than usual though].

I guess I'm still in shock. I've been with them since the last town.

[kyley_b]

Yeah. I guess it really isn't.

That's a really long time. Like, years, right?

About a year for me, but they were there longer than I was.

That's why other people are going to miss them too. They were pretty well known.

[kyley_b]

A year is a long time, especially in an unstable environment.

They were really good dudes. They both helped me out of hard places.

[imaglyphwitch]

Oh, it is. It could get pretty bad too, honestly.

They've helped me in so many ways, and when we lived together we all helped out each other.

That was what make this place so bearable. All of us, together.

[kyley_b]

Yeah. Friends are good for that.

Living together with all your best friends sounds great, actually. Noisy, but great.

Like I said. Been saved by them and vice versa several times over!

Oh, it is! Maybe it is a little noisy, but you get used to it!

You were clearly a good friend to them, dude.

Yeah. More like a sister, actually.

[Which was made all of this so hard. She'd never had brothers before].

And I have to be an older sister to ones that are still here. I have Bonds with both of them!
