AUDIO | UN: š WANDA
[ posted in the early hours of sunday 8 may aka mother's day.
it's not on brand for wanda maximoff if she doesn't make a post every blue moon about something sad.
today, it's one that she knows she has no business making. but today's a day that she wishes she was spending in westview with billy and tommy, and after seeing them in a portal only a few weeks agoā¦
the wounds are a little fresh. so is her loneliness. ]
Can you still celebrate Mother's Day even when your children are not with you?
[ her voice is low and her accent is thick and shaky. wanda's trying to keep her composure. this isn't meant to be as upsetting as it sounds. wanda had her script perfected, her inflection decided upon in her rehearsals in front of the mirror. but the star of wandavision's final cut isn't as clean and perfect as she wishes it to be. ]

voice; un: lady
Wanda? It's good to hear your voice. I--haven't heard of a mother's day, but I know what it is to miss your family, and if you'd like to be celebrated with cake, and perhaps a new dress, I have some.
voice
[ since, of course, everything is for lady, surely. but wanda sounds upbeat and amusedāand she feels very touched that alayne would even wish to do something of that nature for her. ]
Do you like cake?
no subject
Lady would be content with an apple, and I'm afraid she'd only ruin a new dress. But I like cake very much, and making clothes for other Sleepers, especially when they've helped me in kind.
[and really, wanda had saved her home, even if it seemed like the sort of thing wanda did very often. sansa has made people clothes for much less.]
no subject
I've never had anyone make me clothes before. [ then she laughs lightly. ] What happens if I like it too much and demand you make me all my clothes?
[ she's joking. she would never make alayne sit there and make her clothes. she'd get tired of all the red and black! ]
no subject
[her tone is light but this is an ideal scenario. she already makes a lot of costumes for performers at the red, and at least half of all the other clothes she makes are black. having regular clients gives her a sense of security, and she could certainly use wanda's help with a lot of things.]
no subject
[ a sleeve per task sounds very fair to her. they could be fluffy sleeves, soft sleeves, very warm long sleeves to help her get through the winter. asking for the entire shirt is definitely asking for too much. ]
no subject
[she is especially interested in dark bloodstone jewelry...]
no subject
[ she would happily toss out all of her clothes if alayne was to make her outfits to replace them. wanda's a stranger to gifts, but she's not a stranger to appreciating things until they're worn and torn. ]
And I'll happily helpāany time. I think you know by now how fond I am of Lady and⦠your tree is quite beautiful. I definitely would like to make sure that no matter what the Trench throws at us, that remains safe.
no subject
[and, more softly:]
Can you really make our home safer?
[nobody really wants to break in to the house covered in noisy ravens that advertises a blood hound inside, but sansa's not thinking of her home in trench all that much.]
no subject
[ wanda knows that she can. a little bit of magic here, a little bit of spellwork there⦠she'd practised all that she had learned from the darkhold and all the moments she'd given in to spontaneity. she doesn't wish to create a broken world again. ]
I have two horses at home. You can't see it, but there's a barrier around my property so they can't wander away and get lost. And sometimes that barrier stops monsters from finding them.
no subject
That's wonderful. Do you ride very much?
[she pauses.]
I do have a friend who means to raise dairy goats. He does have a lot of chickens. I think he could use a barrier like that. Do you know him? Raleigh Beckett?
I should be very glad to have a barrier, but...my blood hound, Knight, is a kind of beast. He's not like a mad dog, he's very well-behaved, but he feeds on blood pollution, and I wouldn't wish to see him exiled from my home by anything meant to keep away beasts.
no subject
I believe I do know him. I thought he had metal alien suits, not chickens.
[ it just goes to show people are onions: they have very interesting layers. she'd never thought a man she thinks comes from space would be the type to settle with chickens. ]
It can always be a boundary that lets Knight in and out. Magic is intricate like... a very complicated dessert dish.
[ looks intimidating af on the outside (and inside) and is stressful at times to put together, but in the end, the complexity, blood, sweat, and tears are worth it. ]
no subject
I think he has both. Many farmers have known war, where I come from, and feeding a city is the best way I know to defend it.
[sansa doesn't know very much about fighting battles, but she knows wars are won and lost by food supply chains (and weird old men with grudges).]
We'd all be very grateful for your assistance, and your company.
[speaking of which,]
Do you have a favorite kind of cake? I'm trying to practice my baking.
[not unrelated to her more general concerns about shoring up the food supply here.]
If you don't like cake, I can make biscuits or jam tarts, but I'm still learning pies, so I can't promise you a very good one just yet.
no subject
[ any kind of cake. given that she's come from so little, she's enjoyed anything that anyone gifts her. vision had once given her a very sad looking cupcake he had tried to bake himself. a valiant attempt was made... and it had been the best cupcake she had ever tasted.
she scrunches up her face playfully, ] Have you ever made a chocolate cake?
no subject
I have! It's very easy with the cocoa powder. Would you like me to make a chocolate cake that we can share? [she pauses.] If you ever want to talk about your children, I would be very glad to listen.
I could tell you about my mother, too.
no subject
I would love to hear about her. Especially if she likes chocolate cake, too. [ she teases, ] I feel it's very important to know what flavour of cake she would like the most.
no subject
[sansa hadn't even truly thought wanda would want to hear about her mother, much less right now. she's not entirely prepared, and her voice sounds a little strained.]
We didn't have chocolate in Westeros, or vanilla.
I know she liked lemoncakes, and blackberries, and mint.
no subject
when she speaks, her voice is a warm light laugh. ] Do lemoncakes taste as they sound? Like lemon?
no subject
Yes! Lemoncakes are my favorite. They were the first thing I learned to bake, here.
Do you like lemon, too?
no subject
[ while she likes the description of an expression looking like someone's sucked a lemon, that's one thing she hasn't quite done in her life. ]
You should bake them today. For your mother. [ then she's quick to add: ] Only if you want to, obviously. You may have other things you want to do.
no subject
I think she would rather I make you your favorite cake. She was very gracious, and she didn't eat it very often. But perhaps I will make fish for dinner, I think she would like that.
[with a slice of lemon.]
no subject
alayne's mother is too kind, just like alayne. it seems the lemon doesn't fall far from the tree. ]
What if you make me lemoncake and chocolate? Is that too much? Is lemoncake very big?
[ oh, god. she's not asking her to make a five-tier cake, is she? ]
no subject
We made lemoncakes very small. I can use the pan for muffins, and the big one for chocolate cake.
I can make tea, too, or lemonsweet. We can have a little party. You can even give Lady an apple.
