[ Yuri's voice is low and rough, somehow both heated and emotionless. His emotional state has been degrading since Flynn's omen led him to Flynn's corpse. He growls and there's rustling over the Omni ]

If you killed him, be at the Gate at midnight.

I know it's not. It- it doesn't make any of it easy or fair or good. That's- it's just how things are.

[He hears Yuri's voice break and his heart wrenches. This is never easy for anyone to go through. The fact nothing can fix this kind of thing is a hard lesson to learn. ]

I'm sorry. Really, I am. I don't know if... back in Deerington? We'd come back to life. I don't know if that works here or not. I don't...want to get your hopes up. But he might not stay dead.

[ It doesn't have to be. Things don't have to be unfair. The best person in the whole damn world doesn't have to be taken away, for no reason at all.

No. It's rotting, like he's been dead for days. But he wasn't, I saw him this morning.

[ It feels like a lifetime ago, now. ]

He's at our house. His omen disappeared. It's, it's, [ He doesn't know where he's going with this. Maybe he should hold a funeral or something. ]

[Sorry, Yuri, Varian is just staring at the screen in confused horror. He doesn't understand that's- that's not how death works. He'd been worried with Ramona's demise if they'd well and truly broken the resurrection system and now it's starting to sound like his concerns were real. ]

Damnit.

[He blinks, looking back at the screen. Right, right.]

Okay that's- not what used to happen. It...look, before you do that, can you get in contact with a friend of mine? Eddie Kaspbrak. I'm not...not trying to stop you from grieving, but we've never had that happen to a body here before. Just- just to check. In case burning him might...uh stop him. Coming back.

[He doesn't know if it would or not. He has no damn clue, but he knows bodies are extremely out of his wheelhouse. He doesn't even know how much they are in Eddie's, but he has a far better chance of figuring out what the hell is going on than anyone else here.]

[ Yuri's voice sounds dead when he says it. It's not about Eddie. It's about the insurmountable task ahead of him: dealing with Flynn's body. Targeting his anger at someone let him forget that that was something he had to do. It's lying there in his house, waiting for him.

Maybe Eddie can deal with it, and Yuri can just... he doesn't know. Go fight some monsters or something. That'll help. Except that the monsters are people, and he doesn't want to kill people. Not if he's doing all this to honor Flynn's memory. If he's doing that, he has to do things right. ]

I'll do that.

[ He'd better come back. He'll come back. But if he doesn't, if he doesn't come back...

He can't think about it. ]

[Yuri really doesn't sound okay at all, not that Varian can blame him. The death of a loved one is always hard, but he needs to remember Yuri is still fresh to this world. He's not seen people come back from the dead. He hasn't experienced it as a painful stop-gap in their continued existence in this world. ]

Okay. I'm...I'm really sorry. Is there anything I can do to help?

[ Descriptive. He doesn't want more people to die like this, doesn't want more people to have to suffer like this.

And if he doesn't kill the guy, and he kills someone else-- Yuri wouldn't forgive himself. ]

Blonde? Not the person I thought of at least.

[He's...not sure how to feel about that? Relief? A little guilt for considering it at all? Probably a mixture of both.]

[ That it isn't Maul. He'll figure out the guy's name, then. ]

Yeah. Sure. It's... [ What is it? He doesn't know. He doesn't know what to do or how to feel. He just knows that Flynn is gone, and all these people are being nice and that isn't really what he wants right now. He wants to punch something. ] Thanks.

[This is so deeply worrying. He knew it was inevitable that someone would end up testing the reincarnation process here- if it happened at all, but he didn't think it would be so soon. There's no comfort he can give- even when he knew for sure people would come back, the process of losing someone was still devastating. ]

No problem. Uh...let me know if you need anything, okay? I... I don't know how much help I can be, but if I can, I'll do it.

[ Yuri nods his head, then remembers that this is voice, not video, and sighs, long and slow ]

Yeah. I will.

[ And he has nothing left to say. He won't reach out, that's not the sort of person he is, but he'll try his best not to do something stupid, so he's still around if Flynn does come back.
