[ The feed clicks on to ragged breathing, too close to the Omni ]
Who the hell killed Flynn? Some guy with a light sword. Give me names.
[ Yuri's voice is low and rough, somehow both heated and emotionless. His emotional state has been degrading since Flynn's omen led him to Flynn's corpse. He growls and there's rustling over the Omni ]
If you killed him, be at the Gate at midnight.

[Lysithea's eyes widen at that before she gives a shake of her head.]
...No, you're right. That's not the way it's supposed to go. But I suppose - if we're outside the dream...
[She lapses into thought.]
You must forgive our lack of empathy. In this world, death became commonplace, almost expected. It was not a matter of avoiding death, but a matter of minimizing the number of times you died.
But a body doesn't rot within a day of death, either. And it certainly doesn't sprout crystals. I would suspect that the Pthumerians are intervening. Or perhaps the deity of death still holds some influence here.

[ He wishes it was. He wishes he could wake up and Flynn would be there, in the kitchen making some monstrosity that he'll say is great, and Yuri will tear apart after one bite.
He wishes that this hadn't happened, that Flynn was still here, that his presence was still in the world. The world is a better place with Flynn in it. ]
I don't know. No one knows. Of course the idiot had to be the first one to die. He can't stand not being the best at something.
[ And now he's the best at... dying. Great. ]

[Lysithea gives a small nod.]
Although we have been Awakened, we are still Sleepers yet. If they have called us here for a specific purpose, I cannot see that they would allow our lives to be so wantonly spent. Keep watch over your friend.
If these incidents are as dangerous as those in Deerington, then... the streets will run red with all our blood soon enough, and they will find the stock of Sleepers to soon be in short supply.
I promise nothing, but it was a half-Pthumerian who continued to resurrect us before, and we are in the company of patron Pthumerians now.

[ His voice is bone dry, and he watches her through the Omni with a completely blank expression ]
But. Yeah, I'll watch him. He's, it's not looking good.
[ And looking at Flynn's body is painful. He can get Smokey to do it. Smokey can tell him if he's needed, if anything happens. The smell of rot in his house is almost too much, as it is. ]
I dunno if these Pthumerians really have our best interests at heart.

[Lysithea responds quietly. Those who were new to Deerington and its horrors couldn't truly understand what was likely to come.]
I don't think they do. But I think their best interests involve our continued existence in this city.
And, er, perhaps don't actually physically watch him the whole time. I'm sure you can cover him with something appropriate. For dignity.
[She feels pretty certain that something unusual is going to happen to those who die here. What that is, she can't say.]

Yeah. Guess we should figure out their angle. Use it to keep as many of us alive as we can.
[ Well, maybe not all of them, if there are more Anakin Skywalkers out there. ]
I... yeah. I'm going to build a shelter, outside, so he isn't just rotting away in the living room. It's weird, he doesn't smell like a normal dead body. Smells... fishy.
[ Look, he's still really upset about this, but his practicality wins out, sometimes. It's easier to be overly practical than to dwell on the fact that that's his best friend in there ]

The goal of the previous dream was stated upfront. This time, it's hard to tell what they seek. Some have stated that they simply want to keep this city safe, and that we are here to act as its caretakers.
But I've a suspicious mind.
[It feels as if there must be more.]
I'm sorry this has befallen you so soon. And -- ah, I believe that might be because of the... squid... thing.
['squid.' 'thing.']

[ He isn't really in the mood to listen to theories, and it shows in his tone, a bored drawl. He isn't trying to be rude, it's just that his best friend died. You know how it is. ]
...yeah. Probably. Man.
[ Yuri shakes his head. This is all so very weird. ]
Guess I better be grateful for it.

[Sounds right for Deerington Pt 2. But Lysithea, for all that her younger self blithely ignored other people's feelings despite being aware of them, is not so obtuse that she can't pick up on his signals.]
I don't know about grateful, but... let's call it hope. You should try to get some rest yourself.

[ Do something. Figure out what to do with Flynn.
He laughs humorlessly ]
Let's hope they aren't trying to suck us dry.
[ He watches this girl for a moment, then gives her a nod ]
Well, we'll see what happens.

...She, too, would dearly like to know what happens next.]
