How many people are familiar with a festival called "Tanabata"? And "wishing trees"?

Lady Amaterasu isn't here anymore, but her guardian trees still are. What she would have wished I think was for people to still enjoy them and find hope in them, to keep them strong, so a few of us were going to do a small festival to honor her at the Sanctuary tree. From what I've been told of the tradition, which would be taking place around now anyway, it's something that would suit her her wishes I think. It'd be nice if we could do something at the other trees as well-- turn them into "wishing trees" as well maybe.

It'd be good for people to have something happy to look forward to as well, with everything that's been going on. I don't think she would want anyone to be sad.

[ And we're going to pointedly ignore all the Actual and Avoidable Shit going on because he'll get mad and start lecturing, and that's not his place. Wars and revenge between humans never are, and it's why his tone is as sober as it is gentle. ]

Moon Presence appeared to Miss Luna and Lady Alayne. [ He pauses. ] Sanctuary has been blessed by her, so anyone suffering ill effects for the time being might find some added relief here. Anyone meaning harm to anyone or anything inside will be repelled as well, so people needing safe harbor should please seek us out. [ Which means any party crashing assholes... Try it. He'll deadpan from the door. Is it forever? No, just for "the Beast Moon." Is he going to let that on? heck no ]

We're clearing out some extra rooms if anyone needs a safe place to stay for a while. There's no cost-- just help out however you can.

[ ooc: a wild and unexpected Tanabata event appears! I will update here with a link when the log is up, it'll be in a general open post for Sanctuary with setting update stuff for the month. ]

Ungrateful and narrow minded, makes sense the two tend to go hand in hand.

The realm of realism and logic says it's only a matter of time before you need anti-corruption help in some capacity. So when I see you running over to the sanctuary or asking for help from the magical wishing tree, just know I told you so.

But you would never do that because it would make you a liar too, now wouldn't it?

Yeah, you'd think that. I've heard about this corruption stuff. I've gotten something that's supposed to help. I don't need a tree.

I've seen this tree. It doesn't seem so special.

Maybe if I was it'd be better for everyone.

[Shit, he didn't mean to send that, where's the delete button on this?]

[He's sticking to text, thanks.]

Delete button's all the way over here, great.

There's only two people I've seen so far who give a damn about me. It's fine, I know you don't. It's not a problem.

I don't care.

[It's a lie, he knows it's a lie, but it's a lie that's less painful than the truth.]

There's no one who cares about me.

If you understood, you wouldn't.

[ WOW. That was way shorter then expected. ]

...
I TOLD YOU SO
.
Tell me how logic works in that realistic realm of yours again? Because out here with the rest of us, if something helps you and it's of no cost to you, you don't go around intentionally putting it down and lying about it for no reason.

[ Pfft the fact it needs to be spelled out. ]

Should we add stupid or willfully ignorant to the list?

But you would never do that because it would make you a liar too, now wouldn't it?-

Does that sound familiar?
Because I literally just said that to you. And you responded I don't need the tree.

All along you were aware of the fact that you already used the tree and knew that it healed your curruption.

-That's lying.

I don't need it now. And I don't really know what cured that petrification. I don't even know what caused it.

With the attitude you're running around with, it's only a matter of time before you need help again.

Corruption caused the petrification, and you were healed through the cherry tree. If you aren't sure how something works, ask. Don't just give an opinion on it. It's extremely disrespectful and rude.
icanhearscreams: (hmm...)

[personal profile] icanhearscreams 2022-07-07 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd ask, but everyone here has a completely different frame of reference for science. So it's almost useless to ask.

I understand, but let me tell you that's not true, in fact I come from a very modern time and have high standards for scientific measures.

Here I've been working with engineers to improve the quality of life for everyone. Studying different ways to combat corruption is high on that list.

Science is all about learning how the world around you works. Not every place is the same, and it gives sleepers the opportunity to create new technology that may not have even been possible or in some cases necessary in their home worlds.

Think about medicine, often its components come from nature. The cherry tree's flowers can be made into a soothing tea that will help alleviate some of the side effects of corruption. Is it an antibiotic? Nope. Should it be used like an antibiotic? Nope. But just like germs, just because you can't see corruption with your eyes, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
icanhearscreams: (grr...)

[personal profile] icanhearscreams 2022-07-07 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
... I guess I can't argue that much.

I still think wishes are stupid.

Again

You're entitled to your opinion, but it's not appropriate to put it under a post that is in honor of someone who has moved on. It's selfish and takes away from the individual.
