Video; un: darkness

[The video starts off with Maul looking angry, as he usually does, and he starts in with no introduction or insults. There’s a definite sense one gets watching that he’s doing his best to keep himself from pissing off the population at large.]

It appears that recently there was a misunderstanding over who had killed someone named Flynn. I am here to make it clear that was not me. While I have no issues with being accused of things I have actually done, I won’t stand for people speculating that I am the cause of all your miseries here--

[He pauses, visibly restraining himself from saying anything further that he knows won’t help his cause here.]

--But no matter. I knew who actually did it and so I have brought the miscreant forth to tell you himself.

[He nods to someone off-screen and Savage comes forward with Anakin. He has his lightsaber pointed at his throat.

The effects of bloodsport and corruption have started leaving their marks on Anakin. Despite the lightsaber held against him, he’s still twitchy with pent up energy. In addition he’s flushed with fever. He stares at Maul blankly, not understanding what’s going on here.]

Are you going to kill me again?

[Maul shakes his head no, pointing to Venge who is currently broadcasting the video.]

Not if you cooperate. Now, tell the people here what you did at the Gate.

[He looks at Savage.]

Cut his hand off if he refuses to cooperate. I’ve no patience for playing games today.

[A smirk appeared on Savage’s lips, and he lowered the lit end of his saberstaff downwards to make it clear that the threat would be carried out without question. His mechanical hand tightened on Anakin to prevent much squirming.

Anakin winces as the metal parts in his hand grind together. Maintenance wasn’t as easy.]

So if I say whatever you want me to I get to go? [Turning directly to face the camera.] Whatever he said, it was me. It was all me. I did it.

[Maul nods in satisfaction. He figures that’s as good as they’re gonna get on any coherency from Anakin.]

There, you see? It wasn’t me.

[Then he turns to Savage.]

Let him go.

[Honestly, the fact Maul isn’t about to execute Anakin on the network is a bigger sign he’s sincere about this than anything else. He never would have been willing to let Anakin go after having to deal with such a problem a year or two ago.

Savage growled as he turned his saberstaff off, then moved to seize Anakin to drag him off screen to be set free. As promised.]

Well he threatened to kill my brother and creeps on a friend of mine, so I figure that's enough. Ariadne? Do you know her? Doesn't matter if you do I guess.

I completely understand. If he had threatened to kill my brother, this most assuredly would have been an execution video.

[Maul is the shorter, overprotective older brother of his taller, younger brother and both are woefully codependent on one another....now where has that dynamic been seen before?]

Yes, I know her. Why has he taken such an interest in her?

[As if Anakin couldn't be awful enough as it is, apparently now he's doing this. Fortunately, Maul isn't too invested in his relationship with Airy yet or there'd be a major asskicking coming Anakin's way.]

[Sorry what kind of sibling dynamic is that? Never heard of it.]

[Oh. Oh. Suddenly, a big piece of the puzzle Maul has never figured out lands right in his lap and his eyes widen as he figures it all out. He's known for a while now that Anakin's fall to darkness was prompted by his love for a woman but Maul didn't know who that was, not knowing much about the man's life personally. But now it all makes sense, how the Senator from Naboo plays into all of this drama.]

This.....explains a lot. [Then he scowls.] So he's treating a woman that just so happens to bear a striking resemblance to his lady love like she's a possession for him to own. Just when I think he can't get any worse, I hear something else that makes me question if he has any redeeming qualities at all.

[Man it's a weird day when Darth Maul instantly understands what Sam means and all the implications behind it in just a few words. Because yeah, that's it. Exactly.]

That's about the jist of it, yeah.

And no. He doesn't.

[Maybe he can give Anakin a swift kick in the ass for acting like this. And to treat a woman that way after the boy had grown up a slave and everything!]

I'm glad someone else can see it. You seem to be very familiar with him. Are you from the same galaxy or are there certain movies in your world? Stars Something-Or-Other?

[He can't remember the exact title that he was told.]

[A woman who, Sam suspects, was some kind of former slave or servant herself. Tut tut Anakin.

But wow, color him surprised at Maul's self forth walling. Sam lifts his brows for a moment before approaching the answer laterally.]

I don't have to be familiar with him to see it. He threatened my brother, made my friend uncomfortable and he's a murderer. Looks like he's draggin your name through the mud too, intentionally or not.

[Apparently Sam is only here to shit talk and drink tea and he's all out of tea.]

[Maul is more than happy to talk smack about Anakin Skywalker, idiot Jedi supreme.]

I have no idea what his master and lady love must see him. There has to be something underneath all that instability but I just don't understand it.

[Maul's face clouds with anger.]

If you get the opportunity to kill him, do it. If he threatened Savage, he'd be missing a head right now. And was more than happy to let me take the blame and let this ridiculous farce of mistaken identity continue forever, letting me take the blame for something I never even did.

Well, if you've got him right there you could probably do us all a favor and gank him.

That's not my usual way. [Anymore.] It's one thing to defeat someone cleanly in battle and kill them but this is another thing entirely. Besides, my brother already let him go, so I assume he's going to crawl back into the primordial ooze he came from.

[Maul's lips twitch like he's trying to suppress a smile.]

That is a very distinct possibility.
