[Ariadne hasn't been able to show her face on the network--or in person, really--since her meltdown in July. But she's starting to come back, as it were. Only on voice because she can't quite bring herself to share all of her feelings.

Feelings that are very strong right now.]

I don't believe in revenge. It's a messy business that doesn't ultimately fix anything. You can't always undo a wrong.

You can, however, be better.

I say this for two reasons now. The first is that I urge all of you not to take revenge against the user who goes by the name "NoMercy" on the Omni network. I don't know who they are and I don't know how they've suffered. But hurting them isn't going to un-murder Ezra or Oscar or any of the others.

The second reason why I'm talking about revenge is that...I need to know what happened to Dean Winchester. I need to know who burned down his house, who killed him. And...I want to reassure you--anyone who's listening--that if you know something or if you were, in some way, responsible...I'm not going to hurt you.

I...I don't believe in revenge.

And that's...that's all, I guess.

I know a lot of people were influenced by the last moon and not acting as they should. But even they need to own up to their actions. Whether or not they didn't mean it and the whole 'we can't die permanently' doesn't mean they should get a pass.

I imagine you just mentioned Sleepers as well. What if they harmed or killed the local population?

[ This point Gaia wraps up with the actual question she wants to put out. ]

I'm not one for revenge either. And this goes for everyone, not just the person you're trying to defend.

What about justice? Or compensation for the damages? You say Dean had his entire home burned down and he was killed by someone else?

Wouldn't it be reasonable to expect some atonement in actual physical compensation from whomever did that? The same may well be said for your NoMercy by the people they harmed. And you don't even know who they are or if they would do this normally.

[ She adds one thing before finishing. ]

Sorry for getting caught up a bit. And yes, anyone is welcome to respond to this question too. Not just the person I'm talking to.

But, when you say 'no revenge' do you mean no consequences at all? And if so how do you think that's going to help?

I do think there should be consequences. Absolutely. Please don't misunderstand. When someone does something wrong, they need to make amends, atone.

...even if they don't think they've done anything wrong.

[ There seems to be a long pause before another response comes. Gaia went to read the related entries she missed while dealing with her own problems in July. And some of the attached threads. She finally responds to Ariadne. Her voice sounds more than a little shaken now. Thankfully this had not been a video communication. ]

I still don't believe in revenge. But are you out of your mind for trying to plead for that, for her?

[ Did she change her tune? Not exactly. She truly feels consequences and compensation are more important than the short term satisfaction of revenge. ]

You may think me going back on what I said. But people don't need to hear someone treating that like it was even worth the same level of consideration of some moon-fueled arsonist and burglary gone wrong!

[ The words burst forth from the shaken teen. It's clear what she saw was terrible for her. ]

If you want to save her from corruption, go save her. If she's like that to begin with, stop her. Don't just put up a post about pleading for people not to take revenge and let people pat you on the back for your efforts at stating what they don't like to see either!

Even a lot of the people who actually responded to her, what is wrong with you. If you know her, and you're capable, go deal with it. Stop chatting on the omni like it has nothing to do with you! Or flinging threats for her to laugh at, for that matter!

[ Gaia sucks in a deep breath that sounds a bit like she's trying not to go to tears. She's not the sort that cries! ]

And if you're just going to all sit back and settle it out on the Omni like this, then don't be surprised if someone goes for revenge before you can 'be better'. [ Yeah that was unsurprisingly mocking. ] I might not like it, but I'd hardly blame them.

Also don't be surprised when some of the justice looks and sounds a lot like revenge. Because how can anyone compensate for that level of horror?

[Ariadne is silent for a log time before she replies.

When she does speak, it's in a quiet, even tone.]

I'm not pleading for her.

I'm pleading for everyone who would hurt her. Who would go after her and just prove her right. To let her murderous deeds turn any of us into murderers is...

It's what Mother Superior would want, isn't it?

I never said it had to be about murder, revenge or otherwise.

[ Gaia's response has been immediate this time. ]

Frankly I don't care what Mother Superior would want, if it's the right thing to do. Whether it's saving that girl from being forced to commit those acts or stopping her because that's how she is.

You've got the energy to argue with me about not going for revenge, why not turn it on finding a solution that won't need it?

That's my solution. Not to give in to violence.

[She exhales slowly.]

I'm no god. I don't have powers. My blood isn't even powerful.

Words are all I have to try to sway hearts and minds. I wish I could do more. But I can't.

[ There is a distinct hrmph noise. ]

You know how to think don't you? [ She sounds young, but the tone indicates a no-nonsense attitude. ] You have friends? People you know might be able to champion your cause? So use your words to gather like minds and help them think of a way to confront the problem so it stops being a problem. Don't just leave it at a suggestion not to go for revenge or what have you.

[ The tone shifts to a somewhat tart mannerism. ]

Whoever gave you the impression that you're helpless just because you've got words was wrong.

[ Gaia does leave the impression that goes especially if that person was Ariadne herself. ]

I never said "helpless."

[Although, to be fair, she has kind of felt that way lately. Not that she's going to get into it with this very angry person.

She doesn't want to fight.]

If you have a suggestion for how to handle the situation, please tell me. I'll support you.

As long as it doesn't involve killing.

[ The teen is standing her ground. ]

You just said you've only got your words to sway hearts and minds away from revenge like there was nothing else. If you can do more, then that's certainly no excuse.

[ Gaia then scoffs softly. ]

Of course I don't know much at all about the situation other than what's been posted. If you're going to want me to make any suggestions you're going to have to actually tell me what most of this is even about. And not over the network by the way. Never know when this is private or not.

[ Sure the conversation could have gone to a more private 'thread' by this time. But after that month with the omens broadcasting memories, she's definitely wary of talking about anything over what she'd constitute an open channel. ]

I'm not going to let you push the lead off on me about this either, just so you know. You want this girl to be saved or brought to justice, you're the one that gets to take charge. I'll hear what you have to say in person and give suggestions or help if I have the ability to do so. But I'm not promising anything more.

[She pauses a moment.]

[ Oh right, some people use aliases. ]

My name is also Gaia. You didn't have an alias set. What's yours?

Ariadne. Although everyone here calls me "Airy."

[Which oddly works for her. There's a lightness to the timber of her voice, to the breathy way she speaks.]

Lady Gaia, I sense that I've inadvertently offended you. I'd like to apologize for that first. It was never my intention.

[ It does seem to work for Ariadne. Gaia lets out a soft sigh. Perhaps it's time for her to concede something. ]

Alright, Airy. Look, sorry if I came over strong. You don't have to apologize. If there's anything you want to say other than that, then by all means do so.

There is...

[But she hesitates, clearly choosing her words carefully. This is so uncertain for her.]

I think it's that I need help. I don't...I don't know what to do.

Alright. Well if you mean help with this girl or your friend Dean, I'm willing to meet you and hear what you know.

[ It might not be a video call, but maybe Airy can hear the faint smile, or at least kindness lightly in Gaia's tone. ]

Look, it's like I said. I don't know if I can help you. I won't give you false hope like that. But if you're able to tell me what you know, I'd at least try to make good suggestions.

I mostly meant the child but...

[She exhales shakily.]

If I don't find out who hurt Dean, I'll never know why.

[ Gaia sounds decisive. And the first thing isn't about the child, nor Dean. ]

Let me know a time and place to meet you. If I'm going to hear you out more, I'd rather do it in person.

I understand.

[Sort of. She's still new to these devices. But there is something to being able to look into a person's eyes.]

I'm at Serenity Garden every morning. Weeding the plants. You can usually find me then and if it's early enough, alone.

[ By this time, Gaia seems to have relaxed quite a bit. Now things are going more in a (what is to her) sensible direction. ]

Alright. I will try to be there tomorrow. At the very least as soon as I am able.

[ All in all she realizes this is something that shouldn't wait 'a couple days' or anything. She'll likely be there the next day; whether early enough to be alone or not is another matter entirely. ]

[Ariadne bows her head. And then realizes that she's on audio, so one can see it.]

Just Gaia is fine.

[ Though this one seems friendly. In any case it's the last words she speaks before ending her side of the communication, though she'd wait for acknowledgement if given. ]

[Ariadne closes the channel, flopping back against the wall with a low exhale.]
