[Suggestive of a common ancestor of symbology, and how quickly and surreally accustomed Ortus has become to such a concept.]
Are you a young person yourself?
no subject
id be an adult next year back on earth
[ Which is a weird thing to say ('earth'), but fuck it, better than saying 'home'. ]
you became a skeleton?
[ No, he knows this person did from browsing the replies, but it feels proper to ask first. ]
private ∞
Then I thank you doubly for your input. If you know of any others, I would be glad to know them.
And I have become a skeleton, yes. It is somewhat less than convenient.
no subject
how old are you
[ Writing-wise they sound like they're from Ye Olde Days, but Robby hadn't taken that to mean they were old-old. ]
and whats being a skeleton like or dont you want to talk about it
[ They did just private this. ]
no subject
[It would have been his birthday in the month past. It was not remembered in any sign he took note of. He has not marked his birthday since he was half the age he is now.]
I am willing to speak of it. I only do not wish to cause alarm among those who know me.
It is disconcerting. I am much lighter than before, and find my usual movements untenable. I clatter disagreeably when I go about, though less so with practice, and of course I am deprived of many skills of the living: fine dexterity, speech, and so on. What I find most curious is that my senses of sight and hearing are not fled from me, even as scent, touch, and taste are. This would suggest the imprint of a necromancer's theorems, but I am not, so far as I may tell, a construct, as I yet possess my own mind and will, though I cannot say where they are lodged.
no subject
(Did he really just help someone be hip with the youth? God.) ]
id go with the latter measurement [ Personally.
And as for the rest... ]
thats weird
whats a "necromancer's theorems"?
no subject
It would make greater sense as an assessment of my perspective.
Theorems are the mechanisms by which necromancers apply their art. A simple theorem would be one that smooths the movement of a skeleton, or helps adhere their bones together without the use of additional gobbets of flesh. More sophisticated ones grant the appearance of situational awareness to skeletons, although in most cases, there is no animating intelligence inherent to them.
no subject
[ Admittedly, reading all that was one big 'oh', but he gave himself some time to try and digest that. ]
so its a type of magic but someone did a different magic on you?
have you tried asking if someone can change you back? can you
[ Holy shit, wait, is this person stuck as a skeleton? Robby, how do you get flesh and organs back!! ]
no subject
I believe it to be a different magic, yes.
I have considered asking, but according to those I might ask, such a resurrection is impossible.
And I would not place myself willingly in the hands of the one who might achieve it, regardless of his true capability.
I have been told a measure of blood harvested from a Sleeper yet untapped for their blood's potential may also aid a return to my usual fleshy condition, but that seems a waste to me. According to what I have been told, I may also wait out the curse, and be restored by time alone.
no subject
That's the thought that lingers on with Robby, even as he gets to the end that, no, this is a temporary inconvenience; and what a shitty one at that. But this was another example of how Trench is, and maybe, sometimes, there isn't a reverse to the problem.
It's hard for a guy like him to imagine just how more crazy life can get, even with the examples already seen. Experienced. ]
hope its a curse. shitty curse
better than getting stuck
you know who you pissed off?
no subject
But Ortus is not unused to sifting meaning from fragments.]
It would appear that if I have caused offense to any malign entity, I am not alone in it. Which is another way of saying that I do not know, but I believe it linked to the application of face paint as ward against the restless spirits of the city.
Thus, I would advise donning disguises that signify a person or creature you might find pleasant or interesting to be if the same misfortune befalls you. An idol of yours, perhaps, or a mythological beast?
no subject
that got somethin to do with the black parade? i know a friend started face painting for that
i havent been interested in it. but good to know
[ In case he decided to change his mind, he guesses. (What kind of idols can a person paint on their face? Shows how much he knows about idols.) ]
ur stuff about meditation. did you get any good answers?
no subject
[Or else he might have been modestly more concerned.]
I received some, but I would not refuse more.
[Not all of them were precisely what he was looking for, but he is extraordinarily grateful for the rush to aid him.]
no subject
its not just meditation but ppl can do it for that. you go through motions meant for learning karate (fighting) but you can always take it slower
slower is good when youre learning a set
[ At this part, he pauses what he's typing out. Thinking before submitting to anything, but he continues: ]
i cant meditate right now bc my blood sucks but its been good for calming me down
not going to lie meeting a skeleton would be really fucking weird but
i dont know i could ask someone to send you some examples over this? videos. i can ask my sensei and you can do it in your own time or he can meet you. or i can
if you just want your mind elsewhere its good for that
no subject
[It isn’t the important thing, but it is a curious one. ]
I did not know that there was a slower version, or that it might be used to meditate.
[He had not been the most apt pupil, but he is sure he would have recalled if there was a slower, less arduous version mentioned.]
I would not ask you to meet me in my current state, but I would be grateful for examples. They may aid me twice over. The one I seek to help also was a student of the karate fighting style.
And I am sorry that your blood troubles you. There is far too much blood here, and it is over-active.
no subject
but ill send a video of a simple one. theyre usually short but then you have to work through the set. theyre a good way of memorizing moves
and thanks. i know it bothers everyone. being a skeleton sounds worse
no subject
I am obliged to you. I have wished to improve my knowledge of the karate style, although I doubt greatly I shall ever achieve great skill.
Perhaps it is, perhaps it is not. In either case, it does not do any good to say - this one is worse off than I, so I ought not complain.
Or such has been my experience.
no subject
[ Well, at least. ]
and it doesnt matter if you do something great, right. as long as you enjoy it. as people say
[ Because if Ortus can have a 'as people say' moment, so will Robby.
(But Robby will get back to him, giving him a video displaying Gekisai-dai-ichi (wow look another!!) in a slowed down movement, with instructions for each movement; another display of its slower form, and then at its regular speed.
And the bows before and after the proper, normal speed set, of course.) ]
no subject
[And he will continue not to until he is restored to his usual self, although he does not know this yet.
In the meanwhile, he would smile if he could at the (presumably) young man's mild rebuke.]
I find the sayings of the people of Earth are often different from the sayings of the Ninth. I am more accustomed to 'if you're going to insist on making a fool of yourself, it would be better if you took a long walk over a deep mine shaft than to keep wasting my time'. More or less.
I believe I prefer the Earth custom, and I shall study these films in due course.
