[Kassandra had spent the better part of a day figuring out just how to use the Omni before doing this. She's not technologically inclined, but once she had certain things pinpointed it wasn't difficult to work out some of the basic functions. Including ill-advised videos introducing herself, though she clearly hasn't mastered the Art of the Selfie.

The video feed opens at an odd angle showing a tanned woman, thankfully right-side up, staring at it with furrowed brows. Deep in concentration for a moment more, she simply stares at the camera in silence until she seems to come to a conclusion. Nodding, the woman exhales, and finally speaks up.]

...Hello. If other people are able to hear me, please say something so I don't keep talking to a rock and wondering if it really is magic or if I am crazy.

[Her voice has a heavy Greek accent, and if her attire is any indication she is not of the modern era.]

If I am talking to a magic rock, then know that my name is Kassandra, and I am looking for my family and my crew. Men named Alexios, Nikolaos, Barnabas and Stentor...and women named Myrinne, Roxana, and Odessa. I have hope that I am not alone in being reborn in this strange land, yet I have seen no sign of them.

[There's a pause as she fiddles with the Omni one more time.]

Aletheia, if you can hear this, show yourself.

[And then the feed drops.]

You know birds, right? I can fly like that but I don't have wings. In the future, there'll be ships that fly in the air like they do on the water.

Ships that fly sounds almost as outlandish as this whole place.

[She inhales...but nods.]

And I believe it, given that I'm standing in this place. That must take some great wings to make a whole ship fly.

[rocinantes]

It would take too long to explain to you how it works.

( and he's lazy. )

But just trust me and know that we do get there. And once we do, I left this planet as soon as I could.

Sounds nice...I suppose?

[She wouldn't know.]

I imagine that's thousands and thousands of years after my time.

[rocinantes]

Probably. I'm surprised you've gotten the hang of this network thing so fast.

( she hadn't fumbled too much that he'd seen. )

[metoikos]

It seemed fairly self explanatory. The rock told me what to push, so I pushed it.

[And there's also her grasp of Isu technology. She assumes this is more of that.]

But I also spent a day poking at it.

[rocinantes]

The rock.

( he sighs, shakes his head. )

I hate this place because shit like that makes sense.

[metoikos]

How do you think I feel when none of this makes sense?

[Mostly confused. And kind of angry.]

[rocinantes]

Pissed?

( that's how he'd feel. )

I'd probably be punching things. Or people.

[metoikos]

I do want to break a few things, yes.

[Very much so.]

...But is that any better than a child throwing a tantrum?

[rocinantes]

Why are you equating that to a child throwing a tantrum?

( he doesn't agree. )

It's a good way to get excess energy out. It's that or fucking and fighting comes with less strings attached.

[metoikos]

Fighting's also a good way to make enemies, and get people to look down on you. Neither of which are things I can afford in a new place where I have no friends or allies.

[She's learned this the hard way.]

And who says fucking has to come with strings? Hetaerae and Pornai don't exist here?

[rocinantes]

I don't know who Hattie and Porn are. Unless you're talking about pornography and then yes, that does exist here.

( and some of it was great. )

It just tends to happen. I've had it happen and I'm not gonna let it happen again.

They're...mmmm...it's words for people who take money for sex.

[She has no idea what pornography means, but hey, she'd probably like it.]

Good luck avoiding that, then?

I've been doing okay for awhile.

( so, he thinks he's home free or whatever. )

But we do have what you're talking about. Or I don't know if this place does but where I come from does.

I'd be surprised if a city lacked such an industry.

[Oldest profession and all that. She's not one to judge.]

So would I. I just haven't gone looking.

Given the state of the place? Almost certainly.

It seems depressing.

I guess it is. We haven't been here all that long.

( but it sucks. he thinks he prefers dreamland. )
