[Kassandra had spent the better part of a day figuring out just how to use the Omni before doing this. She's not technologically inclined, but once she had certain things pinpointed it wasn't difficult to work out some of the basic functions. Including ill-advised videos introducing herself, though she clearly hasn't mastered the Art of the Selfie.

The video feed opens at an odd angle showing a tanned woman, thankfully right-side up, staring at it with furrowed brows. Deep in concentration for a moment more, she simply stares at the camera in silence until she seems to come to a conclusion. Nodding, the woman exhales, and finally speaks up.]

...Hello. If other people are able to hear me, please say something so I don't keep talking to a rock and wondering if it really is magic or if I am crazy.

[Her voice has a heavy Greek accent, and if her attire is any indication she is not of the modern era.]

If I am talking to a magic rock, then know that my name is Kassandra, and I am looking for my family and my crew. Men named Alexios, Nikolaos, Barnabas and Stentor...and women named Myrinne, Roxana, and Odessa. I have hope that I am not alone in being reborn in this strange land, yet I have seen no sign of them.

[There's a pause as she fiddles with the Omni one more time.]

Aletheia, if you can hear this, show yourself.

[And then the feed drops.]

Apparently there's an Archive here that has a lot of books, but I haven't been there yet.

(she took what she wasn't finished reading with her from deerington, and there hasn't been much time to sit down with anything so far... there's a little stack beside her bed, and abby supposes she's nursing it.)

I like exploring the markets too. They've got a lot of weird food stalls there that change all the time.

The markets sound a little more to my comfort.

[Well, mostly because she lacks the association with reading and enjoyment.]

What...do you like to read? Philosophies?

[armd]

No, (abby says, amused,) classics, mostly.

(... wait, she won't understand what that means.) They're... of cultural importance. Were. Sort of– the first in its genre to do something really different, if that makes sense.

[metoikos]

I...think so?

[Kassandra smiles awkwardly.]

If they're new stories, then they're important. And so classics. Something like that?

[armd]

... Something like that.

(a hard concept to explain.

but this one isn't:) And shitty romance novels. They're fun.

[metoikos]

Oh?

[Kass wrinkles her nose, amused.]

Are you a romantic, Abby?

[armd]

Maybe? (a shrug,) I... like it in books. It's so over the top.

[metoikos]

Good. It's a thing that everyone should have, and seek.

[Kassandra knows that maybe this is out of line with someone she barely knows. But she also feels strongly about it, after seeing the excesses of her homeland.]

I feel too many people harden themselves up and ignore the wonderful world that we live in. I fear that will be the downfall of Sparta, in the end, and I would hate to see it happen in this place, too.

[armd]

(maybe... abby scrunches her nose, and says nothing to that.)

Hate to break it to you, but this place isn't all that wonderful.

[metoikos]

All life is wonderful. As long as we breathe, then we've a chance to make the world better, and to find some enjoyment.

[She waves a hand.]

This place is plenty wonderful. There's good food, and new friends, and it smells better than anywhere on Crete.

[armd]

(abby has no idea if she's naive, or overly positive; either way, she has the air of somebody who won't be argued with, and also, she can't be bothered.)

Whatever you say, (is all she'll offer,) You're right about the food, at least.

[metoikos]

[It's more that it doesn't take much to be an improvement over 400 BCE Greece.]

Food, yes. So what is your favorite thing here? So I'll know what to try.
