Rose Dawson has returned to the sea, and perhaps home.

I'm not sure if she promised anything to anyone, but please let me know if so, and I will make sure it comes to you in a timely way.

[ Robby only needs a confirmation of where she is to start moving--and hell, he's moving before that, getting ready to leave the archives where he's been reading. Fortunately, he knows where she lives, and the only delay is in the speed of his walk to reach where Snow White is.

But if there's a door that he needs to knock, he'll knock it, unless Snow White happens to be outside. He's got a special delivery to give, see. ]

I don't feel like going out much, though I know I have to gather more food for the winter and start planting. But yes... I am home.

[Snow White is inside, her animals all morose and sharing in her sadness with her. When Robby knocks, it's several long minutes before Snow opens the door. Her eyes are red and puffy, and her nose is a bit rosy. She wipes her eyes.]

Robby! You cam so quickly! I didn't... I didn't have time to make anything.

You can make and bake any other day.

[ Being normal and fine is for days when you don't lose your girlfriend. When you don't lose a friend--and Robby's thinking of Rose the entire time he hurries to Snow White's place, when he's waiting at her door.

She wanted to represent Snow White in another karate tournament. She wanted to protect her.

He tucks those thoughts away as he opens his arms and brings himself to hug Snow White right there on the doorstep, because fuck waiting, look at her. Buries his head close to hers, and just holds her warmly. ]

[Hugs are wonderful things, simply marvelous things, in fact. She wonders if this place is making up for the years and years and years she went WITHOUT hugs. She wants to linger forever inside of hugs because hugs are warm and safe.]

She's gone... Robby... she's... she's really gone. We both knew this could happen but... but knowing and going through it...

I know. [ He does, and he doesn't. Robby can't understand Snow White's pain as it is, even if he can share in a fraction of it. Rose has no life in the sea, she had a life and future she was imagining here. The hug is as much a comfort to him, and he strokes her back as he thinks of Rose, but also Snow White. ]

I don't wanna think she'll be gone forever. She had you, she had a life. [ A life. ] What fun's there being a squid in the sea? Not when she has you.

[ A repeat, but--Robby knows just how much Rose loved Snow White. It wasn't meaningless, not enough. ]

She's not very fond of the ocean, no. [For reasons Rose didn't like to dwell on.] She wouldn't have left if she had a choice. That's what we both knew. Neither of us wanted to leave the other if we could help it.

We both have a real life here.

What do you want to do? [ Have Rose back, yeha, but- ] What would help right now?

[ More than just hugs. Maybe she needs a distraction, or maybe she just wants to talk and cry. Maybe she doesn't really know what she wants, and that's valid too. ]

I... I don't know. [She answered honestly.] I've never... I've never... I've never been allowed to just... [To feel this sadness. She had to brighten up quickly and either get back to work or get herself to a safe place.]

I don't want to just sit here in my tears, though.

[strongroots]

Even if you don't do it alone? [ There's a light--a sliver, even--of humour as he says, ] I can hang around and do some chores with you if you wanna try keeping busy, but I dunno how up for doing anything bigger you'll really be in the mood for.

[ Still, he'd be okay with keeping her company. Some kind of support if he can be. He doubts she's going to be in the mood for any of her food prepping, though.

But hey, at least he knows how to help if she tries. ]

I suppose... [She sniffled and wiped her eyes.] I suppose that some small things need to get done. There are... there are clothes that need to get folded and put away. Do you mind terribly?

Clothes folding? Think I can handle it. I got real good at folding them in the air. [ As opposed to setting them down on a surface. Amazing, truly. ]

We can compare techniques. [ He grins. ]

We have three whole baskets we can try different techniques on! You know, before coming to Trench, I've never had a single person ever help me with chores before, but now, I have people willing to help every time.
