Good morning, everyone. [ said a polite but hesitant young man's voice offscreen. ] I might have a problem. Does anyone know how to sew?
[ The Omni hovered over a freshly laundered dark green jumpsuit. There were rips in the side where something with long nails or claws had scratched through. ]
I know it's bad, but this means a lot to me. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out in time for the festival. Thank you very much.

[Lucille sits tall, her expression aloof and cool. It's rare for her to offer help to anyone, but he said that the jumpsuit means a lot to him, and she's surprisingly sentimental. She sympathizes.]
I'm no stranger to mending clothing for people.

T-Thank you very much! I don't know how I can repay you!

[Look who is super confident in her abilities! She's been patching up clothes since she was a child, so she has every right to be confident.]
I must ask... what manner of creature did you encounter? I do hope you're all right.
[She sounds so disconnected and aloof, and it isn't even intentional.]

Ah! Thank you! I wonder, can you handle thicker materials too? My arm brace took a beating.
[ The camera shifts wildly while a scarred hand grabs an off-white arm covering long enough to reach from wrist to upper arm. It's less scratched up, but due to its color, there are faded blotches from dirty brackish water and... probably blood. ]
Sorry I couldn't get all the stains out of this one. Maybe you know something that will work better than soap?
Video
And I can give it a try to get the stains out, dear.

Yeah, I'm not terrible at sewin' stuff. Everythin' I own's thrifted, so holes are part'a the deal, and there's only so much a stapler can fix.
[A beat, then, a little quieter:] You aren't hurt, are ya? Looks like somethin' nasty gotcha.
HAHAHA
I need it to be a lot more durable than just wearing around for fun.
[ He turns the camera around onto himself. He's wearing bandages on one of his arms and a boring black shirt he bought at the nearest store for cheap. He waves a scarred hand over his side. He smiles, but it just comes off as nervous. He's no TikToker. ]
Oh don't worry about me. Patching myself up was easier than whatever it's gonna take to fix this.
she's TERRIBLE, i'm so sorry, deku
[Then she grimaces, nose scrunching up, protective instincts kicking in.] That don't look okay, buddy, that looks like you fell into a garbage disposal and it won. I can fix your superhero get-up, but do you have like...ibuprofen or somethin'?
are you kidding, i have an excuse to use this icon

That's so cool!
Uh- I can help a little. I've had to sew and patch up my own outfit on the road a few times.
I'll admit I'm better at fashionably tearing something apart than fixing it though.
Re: Video | UN: ClickClickBloom
'Snap'...? You're the person from the well! Thanks for your help! Yeah, it was kind of dark, and I was covered in mud...
[ He hopes it was just mud... ]

That's me! Ruby Rose. Kind of a long time resident in this world one way or another. Or at least I was trapped in a dream world that collapsed around the same time we all started washing up here.
Happy to help out! Yeah- Apparently the sewers are not a fun place to hang out in here. Who would have thought?

Could teach you, if you like. It's not hard.

[ Does he expect it to happen again? Yes, yes he does. He turns the Omni around so he can speak to this person properly. It doesn't show much, but Midoriya's on a fire escape, no doubt trying to dry his laundry in the open air. He's obtained a plain black shirt from the nearest cheap store and bandages on his arm. His hand has scars. He looks like he might do sports or martial arts, but his face, lacking in pretense or any kind of coolness, clearly reads nerd. ]
I don't have school now, so I've got plenty of time to learn. I really appreciate it.
[ He bowed. ]

Could run out of stuff pretty quick, all things considered. (deerington was a fucking disaster-zone at all hours of the day. why would trench be any different,) But it's a really useful skill. Good for first-aid, too.
(- a gentle pause, as he mentions school.) Wait, how old are you?

No. I wasn't looking to kill... whatever it was.
[ It looked like a kid! That raises so many ethical questions!! ]
It's trapped in the well now, and I notified the Hunters. For now, I should leave it to them. They know more about this world than I do.
[ Like whether or not to kill something that looks like a kid! ]

Midoriya is a pretty ordinary human. Then again, Karkat has only really only met a small amount, but has seen enough in John's shitty movies to pick up on some commonalities.)
I WOULD HAVE. I WOULD HAVE DESTROYED IT THOROUGHLY. THEN PROBABLY EATEN IT.
HUNTERS? OH. YES. THE PROFESSIONAL EXECUTIONERS OF THIS LAND. WHAT A DISAPPOINTING NAME. THEY COULD HAVE BEEN CALLED SOMETHING SUBSTANTIALLY COOLER LIKE "BLOOD RAVAGED THRASHERS." I WOULD HAVE JOINED THEM THEN.
I AM SURPRISED YOU ARE NOT A HUNTER WITH YOUR DESIRE TO FIGHT BETTER. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR YOUR PUNY HUMAN BODY.
THERE IS A LARGE ARCHIVE HERE THAT HAS SOME HELPFUL RESOURCES ABOUT THIS WORLD. JUST AS A "FOR YOUR INFORMATION."

Midoriya. [ Worry lines the edge of his mouth. ] Are you okay?
[ Was he attacked?! For sanity's sake, he tries - very hard - not to jump to conclusions. ]
What happened to your costume?
Re: private | video; un: shouto
My jumpsuit's in worse shape than me. Sorry, I should have taken your advice and not gone for a walk so soon. I didn't know the tides here could drag people all the way into the water system.
There's an old well with a long drop and a Quirk-cancelling aura. Watch out for the monster hiding in it. She just looks like a junior high schooler, but dead, and pretty strong.
[ Some of his usual energy leaves his face as it sobers. ]
Everything you said is true. It's dangerous here. If it hadn't been me... If it had been just an ordinary civilian... At least one person has already died down there, a while ago.
1/2
The tides dragged you out to sea?
[ No other water system comes to mind. It's only been a month and his exploration of Trench is far from complete. Fortunately, Midoriya explains his meaning leaving the youngest Todoroki confused. ]
I didn't know there was a place like that here.
[ Quirk-canceling? Monster? The fact that he's in one piece without so much as a scratch dampens his initial fears. Midoriya, like the rest of their classmates, is a hero-in-training. Encountering obstacles like a monster in a cave isn't far-fetched in their chosen studies. They've trained for emergency situations like this with and without their quirks, though the encounter with the 'dead student' seems unique to Trench. That part of the story leaves him more disturbed than the fact that his friend got dragged into a well. ]
2/2
Midoriya. [ His tone, when he speaks, is calm but there's an obvious concern that colors his words. ] Are you okay? I know you're not harmed but...
[ But what? He's not sure what he means to say. ]
... You look troubled.

Yes. Everyone's been really nice. I think it's because it's so tough here, and we're all missing home...
[ He sounds a little sad, though he's really trying not to be a downer to strangers on the internet. ]
It's my hero costume. So I need it to be ready for work. There's a festival coming up.
no subject
[Atsushi needs a moment to digest this information. He's lived a sheltered life without access to much fun media, but he has been out long enough to know about superheroes.]
So does it help you use some sort of power? I think I've seen that in comics before..?
Would regular sewing be enough?
